  1. Hi all So for some time my O/S LED headlight has been fogging up, now it fogs up so much, the moisture covers the whole of the inside lens. 2018 facelift Octavia VRS. Not sure of the exact cost yet of a genuine one, but from what I have read it's astronomical ££££. I just wondered if anyone has found where to get a good reliable aftermarket headlight? Here is me hoping for a better price somewhere.
  2. Give that man a cigar. Cheers all you guys who tried to help me get this working. But I tried as suggested by HappySam to buy a better quality cable. Just been down to the phone shop and bought a genuine Samsung cable. Connected the phone to the USB socket in the car with the Samsung cable and bingo, it all worked, after of course I pressed okay to a couple of onscreen questions. So if anyone else has the same problem, it might just need a quality cable to get it all working.
  3. I should not have said app, as there is no normal app showing on the phone. But when I go into settings and then apps, I see the AA app in the list there. Then I press on in-app notification settings and the screen with connect a car comes up. Can't find anything to do with a cable data connection in connections either.
  4. It does have AA built into my phone. When I connect the cable, nothing pops up on the phone and when you press the AA icon on the cars system, nothing happens. When I get the AA app up on the phone with the cable connected, it says connect to a car, press that and it then shows a cable as an option. But on that screen, nothing else happens. I think the first thing to do is buy a better quality cable. It's a mystery to me at the moment.
  5. My phone is already connected to the car via Bluetooth already, as all my phone services show and work on the car. So it is open to other devises. My phone is a Samsung S20. The cable is a recent purchase from a phone store, so might not be the best quality I suppose. Will look for a better quality cable another day. I have Android Auto in Settings on the phone and see the connect to my car icon, but it just wants to connect to the car again, as it is already connected. So tried to connect Android Auto via Bluetooth and via cable, nothing works. Sometimes technology is a pain in the ar@e.
  6. I certainly get the After Smart Link Activation photo come up, but if I press any of the 3 icons, nothing happens.
  7. So, when I press the app button in my car, I get 3 choices, one of them being Android Auto. I have the Android Auto app on my Samsung phone as well. Tried connecting the phone to the car via a lead straight into the cars USB port. Can't get them to link, why? When I try pressing the Android Auto symbol on the cars screen, nothing happens. My old brain must be missing something. I just want to use Google maps instead of the cars own map system. I am guessing I have to pay a Skoda dealer to activate Smartlink on my car first.
  8. Just a thought when you replace the clutch. The rear engine oil seal is known to be weak, so it might be worth having them replace that at the same time. You also don't want to have happen to you that happened to me. I had fitted £1700 worth of performance clutch and DMF on under 30k miles. After a couple of months the gearbox input shaft oil seal went and ruined all those new parts with clutch slip heat marks. so back to the specialist and I had to pay all that money again for the all those new parts to be replaced. So I would also have them replace the gearbox input shaft oil seal at the same time. I know extra expense, but not as much extra if it all goes wrong.
  9. I poly bushed the front wishbones on my previous VRS. Would not do it again as it was annoying constantly spraying them with silicon to try to stop them squeaking. As Carlston says, you might as well get whole new arms with rubber bushes fitted.
  10. Those are really great instructions. Thanks for all your effort in getting these.
  11. Hi TheClient. Thanks for coming back to me on my question. The return valve shown will not fit in my Racingline housing, as it is described for a pre 2016 housing, unless of course Racingline sent me the wrong one. My car is a 2018 model. Seeing as though Racingline state in the product information you just have to change the O ring across from the old stock housing and then screw the new housing on, it does not make sense they don't supply the inner return valve inside the new part! It will be interesting what Racingline come back with, as they requested the part number off the box they sent me. The part number shown on the housing they sent me is- VWR19G706. The part number shown on the housing info you have posted is- VWR18G700 for pre 2016. Why oh why do car makers keep changing a simple part on the same motor?
  12. I just wondered whether anyone has bought this product for their MK3.5 VRS and found it did not have a centre spiral bit inside that the filter pushes onto. Some cars have this part fixed onto the engine, so that you push your new oil filter onto it to centre it and then you put the housing over the top. With mine, you push the filter into the housing and then screw the housing back onto the engine. I have sent an email to Racingline with photos saying I can't use the new metal housing because there is no centre spiral in the housing to push the filter onto. Waiting to here what they have to say. It was not cheap either!
  13. Yes I took the exhaust tips off and painted them Gloss Black. So now there is no chrome left on the outside of the car, not even any on the wheel centre caps.
