  1. Having just purchased a new Fabia 1.0S can anyone confirm that if I were to disconnect the battery on the car for any reason that the infotainment system would still work on re-connection. On my previous Mk1 Fabia disconnecting the battery required me to input a security code before the radio would work properly again. Is it the same with the Mk3 Fabia with it's infotainment system (Swing) or is this not required as I do not seem to have been supplied with a radio security code with the vehicle documentation?
  2. Ok, thanks for that info, I might just give it a miss in that case.
  3. Thanks for the part number, might give it a go at some point.
  4. I'm soon to be getting a Fabia 1.0S for my wife, just as a matter of interest is it possible to retrofit cruise control to this model? I've retrofitted cruise control to my own Golf & also to my wife's current Fabia Mk1 so I have an idea as to how it's done, I also have VCDS so I can probably enable it as well. Has anyone here done this? Are the cruise control stalks readily available, and where is the best place to get them? Anyone?
  5. A while back I fitted a Kenlowe Hotstart to SWMBO's Fabia which pre heats the engine & gives instant heat from the heater & with the heated seats as well, it's sheer luxury on cold & frosty mornings !
  6. This offer was posted on the UK MkIV forum, it looked interesting and so as I was in Halfords today anyway, I had a look at it. .http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_173083_langId_-1_categoryId_165572 This is a very high quality extremely comprehensive socket set on offer at half price, the Halfords Professional range have an excellent reputation and a lifetime guarantee.. You can probably tell I was well impressed with what I saw, so much so, I bought a set on the spot an absolute bargain !. Tell santa you want a set.
  7. Could be but on the other hand, I've seen this happen with just a bad connector at the pickup coil A quick clean up & a squirt of servisol and it was fixed ! It could be any number of things really, a scan for any logged fault codes would be a good start.
  8. Taking it to a garage (if you can tow it or get it uplifted) would be one way to get it scanned for fault codes although a cheaper way might be to find one of the wonderfully helpful members on here who lives near you with vag-com, see this thread: http://briskoda.net/diagnostics-vag-com/vag-com-owners-map/80992/ then if you find someone and send them a P.M. & ask nicely they might just be prepared to come and check your car for you for the cost of a beer or maybe even for free if you are lucky ! Getting it scanned for a fault code would at least then point to why the immobiliser is cutting in, .
  9. Probably you will have to get someone with Vag-Com to read any stored fault codes for you to determine what's actually causing the immobiliser to kick in
  10. SWMBO's car is a Fabia TDI Elegance Estate PD100 remapped by Angel Tuning to circa 140bhp. I've had it up against a friends Fabia VRS PD130 & found it was slightly quicker in a straight line than his (standard) VRS. The Fabia Estate PD100 surprisingly, is also slightly lighter than a Fabia VRS. You'll have plenty of oomph with a decent remap although it won't ever handle nearly as well as a VRS and you won't be able to get near a remapped VRS without some serious tuning. All in, I'd say a remapped PD100 is a good alternative to a VRS with the Elegance versions having a pretty decent spec as well.
  11. So being blunt about this, he lied to you ! :thumbdwn:
  12. I did this as well on my wife's Fabia Estate but I mounted the cd multichanger in the boot rather than under the passengers seat as she wanted to retain the storage drawer there, it is as Sarah says, a great piece of kit & it works well. While I was at it, I also integrated her mobile phone carkit to the radio so that it automatically mutes the radio and diverts the phone output to the radio speakers when in operation and I also enabled the radio speed related volume feature. As for the spare key situation, I think you should be ok if you have one working key. You can obtain the secret keycode using Vagtacho and reprogramme a new key using the existing key & code after of course getting the blade cut to match. There is information on how to do this somewhere on here I think.
  13. I bought my wife a Fabia Tdi Elegance estate a few years back, it has all the goodies, heated seats, cruise control, electric windows (front & rear), air-con, 6cd changer, central locking, parking sensors etc, etc. I got it remapped and it now has VRS performance (140bhp), it returns about 50mpg on average. Plenty of room for two baby seats on the back seats and a good sized hatch back, plenty of space for buggies etc, enough space to comfortably carry our two fully grown Labradors in there. All in, it's a great "mums taxi" economical to run, comfortable and with a bit of go in it when you need it. Good choice !
