  1. Regarding your tie hitch. I tow a Caterham on a BJ trailer. I got a Westfalia kit but the tow hitch was way too high with the front two wheels of the trailer hardly in contact on the road. Someone on here (I forget who) did some research and found the VW Tiguan removeable hitch is a better height. I bought one and pluggedit in and it is now level and tows great. The MX 5 will be heavier so the leveller the better!
  2. The car is just over 3 years old with 30,000 miles on it. The CRB is making an expensive noise! Has anyone had one fail. Never had this before in any of my cars. I have an extended warranty with the car but I bet it won't cover this! It is booked in for a service on Monday. I was due to be towing with it tomorrow but Skoda Assist advised against it after hearing the noise.
  3. Thanks for your help, just ordered from Wiperblades, Bosch Aerotwin £21.00 delivered. Should be with me Friday. Thanks again.
  4. I need some new wiper blades for my Yeti. Can anyone recommend a supplier online or is it back to the dealers for replacements? Thanks in advance.
  5. Johann's idea of the Tiguan tow hitch is of interest. I tow a Brian James Minnow trailer with a Caterham 7. My colleagues tell me that the tow hitch looks too high. Which it does! It is a 4 wheel trailer with the rear two taking most of the load. When reversing on uneven ground the number plate (which is the lowest point)on the trailer catches on the ground. Sometimes I have to take the Caterham off the trailer to reverse it!! Sounds like lowering the tow hitch is the way forward as this would raise the rear of the trailer. Any ideas besides ebay (already searched) where I could get a Tiguan tow hitch? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi, mine worked like this. Once it has recognised your Bluetooth phone and downloaded your phone book from your phone, you long press the roller button on the left hand side of the steering wheel and state clearly the persons name from the phone book you wish to call and then just follow the spoken commands from the phone doofer....simples!! PS my son in law sorted mine out for me but finished by saying that if I had consulted the handbook I could have done it myself! The instructions in the Amundsen hand book don't cover it, but they are covered in the main Yeti handbook. Hope this helps
  7. Sorted.....so I wasn't dreaming!
  8. Hi, I have an Amundsen Sat Nav, phone doofer on my Yeti. When I first started sorting it out, I am sure a prompt for "voice recognition" came up on the display/ menu for the phone, but I have not seen it since. Anybody know if this is a feature of the unit or have I been dreaming. I also admit to not being very good with phones/computers etc. Thanks in advance
  9. Had to reverse it as it was impossible to move forward without a plough. The only way back was up the tracks the car had made coming down. Is the off road button just for forward movement?
  10. Yep, it was the "off road button" Previously in approx 3" of snow I just press the button, put it in first and it finds its own way home up the hill, all I do is steer! Today it was approx 8 " deep with four foot drifts which brought us to a halt so I was going to reverse it back up the track. Put in the off road button and reverse but no joy (approx 30 degree slope) after digging out and reversing up the hill on to the flat I put it in off road mode to go the 4 metres onto the drive but to no avail. Out with the shovel, down to the Tarmac and hey ho it got home. I understood from the dealer that the off road button allowed the car to control the speed/ traction as it crawled its way through the difficult bits, after which you disengage the button to put it back in "normal" mode....maybe I misunderstood. Any advice much appreciated.
  11. 4x4 140 Elegance. Dunlop sport 4mm fronts 6mm rears. Rubbish in the snow today even when using crawling button. Had to dig 2 x 100 metre channels down to the tar mac to get it home. Even on the flat in the snow the wheels just spin without much forward movement. The car is second hand with 18000 miles on the tyres. I was hoping they would last me through the summer before putting winter tyres on. I have a 12 year old Octavia with winter tyres that goes anywhere !! I am presuming and now hoping that winter tyres will make a huge improvement to the Yeti. Any suggestions as to which make of winter tyres o go for would be much appreciated. In the meantime whilst this weather persists I shall stick with the Octavia!
  12. Thank you E J Stubbs and Dan Barnes. I now have my phone book loaded and working. I would never have found that "notification"!! I had telephoned Motorolla help desk who told me the Defy plus was not compatible with the Yeti's system!! The phone was packed up and ready for returning to Amazon prior to your postings, so thanks again.
  13. Just bought a Motorola Defy Plus as my old phone was, well, old!! I thought Bluetooth was Bluetooth but apparently not. Long story short, my new phone will not transfer the "phone book" across which seems to defeat the reason of having Bluetooth. My old phone worked fine with Bluetooth on my Yeti. Any ideas or previous experience of how to get around the problem would be much appreciated. Thanks Car is Yeti 4x4 140 Elegance 2012
  14. dbg400 L7C Championship is mainly down south but we do visit Harewood early August and I have a course booked at the school in May. Built the car in 2005, busy taking bits off it at the moment trying yo reduce weight! Off to see NY and Crazy Horse in Birmingham in June. Try to get to a concert every time he comes to the UK.....excellent. Hope he does not pop his clogs before June !!
