Hi i know there have been quite a few posts on Octavia water leaks but i couldn't see one that covers my problems ,My car is a 2002 Octavia estate, i first found the rear seat wet and a bit damp on the rear passenger side floor, i then checked back and found it wet in the false floor area and spare wheel area and i looked where the cd changer is and that's very wet, i cleared the sunroof drain though didnt seem blocked and i am now not sure where to go next as i checked today and its wet again after the rain today ?????

Thanks for the advice, today I found both sides are wet, I liked into the sunroof both sunroof drains where blocked which I have cleared out, I have a dehumidifier in the car trying to dry it out, there is a lot to get out !

Hi I have had this problem for sometime but have lived with it, the floor under the matts is very wet ,Its wet through to the rear footwell on the drivers side I have a water leak from somewhere but no idea where, I did check the bulkhead drains, they where clear of muck. What other suggestions are there ? I am thinking of taking the carpet out to dry it out till I can find the leak ?

Its a bosch battery, the car is 2002

Thanks for calling me a muppet !! I did the clutch change , I even cable tied the wires out of the way ! If I switch the ignition on the battery flashes on and off for about a second , I have read other posts saying that if you raise the engine revs to 2k it should start charging if the wire is damaged, I think its blue and brown wire.

My wife Fabia broke down as she couldn't turn the steering and Christmas come early to the dash as lots of the lights where on show ! When I test the battery it has about 9.6v with engine on or off there is no change of the engine is reved, I have checked the plug under the starter motor and all seems good no broken wires, have I done enough checks to say the alternator is gone ? its strange as the charge light isn't showing on the dash, the alternator doesn't look that old either. the car has recently had a clutch change hence why I double checked the wires under the starter motor.

I stripped the egress and inlet manifold off the car, cleaned it as the egress in particular was manky! But no improvement, I also repaired a bad vacuum pipe.

Thanks for the replies, I did clean out what i was calling the egr area with a tooth brush and brake clean which made it run a bit better, as i said i am thinking of having the engine chemically cleaned.

Hi All My 2002 Octavia 110 bhp tdi (174000 miles) has become smokey lately, If i accelerate hard it will leave black soot lines on the road and cloud behind it, Otherwise it runs and drives fine, i am thinking of having the engine cleaned maybe terraclean as i wonder if the injectors are going bad or the egr valve playing up ? The egr valve will stick open after a run and i have to push it closed then it starts fine, the turbo is also sticky with the vanes, unfortunately these days i drive round town more than i used which doesnt help. Any thoughts on what maybe the problem ?

Hi Is there any tips about doing a clutch change on a 1.4 16v fabia ? I have done clutch changes before so should know what I am doing ! Is there anything I need on particular apart from clutch ? My car is just on 100k miles, cant select reverse without crunching , first could be better selection, and will slip id driven badly ! Thanks

I think I have sorted it, It was the EGR sticking open, I have cleaned it out and all seems well, I have been thinking about having it terracleaned which I may do soon to clean it up properly.

Hi All I cant give very much information at this moment but I am looking for some ideas, my Octavia wouldn't start this morning, It was perfect last night, then this morning it turns over just fine sounds like its trying to start, if I keep turning it over I can smell diesel but no go ! I will put my diagnostics tester on it later. The Octavia is 2001 110bhp tdi, asv engine. it is serviced and been no problem. Thanks
