  1. Just rubbed them down with dry paper to begin. Think we started with 800 grit and finished with 1500 so that you have a surface that will take the paint. Then tack ragged to pick up the dust without getting them wet. Then 2 coats of primer to ensure coverage then we left them over night. Then the next morning 2 coats of colour and 2 lacquer, leaving plenty of time in between. We didn't start until about 3pm on the Saturday and it was slightly rushed as I had to have them back on by Sunday arvo. I would say leave yourself plenty of time to do it because all sorts can go wrong. Like my step dad rolling a freshly painted wheel and dropping it paint side down on to the concrete so we had to do the whole wheel again! Also.. we only did 2 coats of colour and lacquer as my step dad did most of the spraying and is expert at it. I would recommend 3 lighter coats if you've not done it before. It's too easy to get heavy with the paint and get drips otherwise. All in all thought only cost about 50 quid and they look epic.
  2. Hi Seeking a bit of help. I've just installed a pioneer head unit (360BT)into my Mk 1 Octy. Managed to get it in ok but every time I start the engine it needs setting up again (clock set etc). I bought it second hand and it came with an adaptor cable, could it be the wrong adaptor? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jon
  3. I have noticed a difference in mpg after half a tank of v power as it goes. I was pretty surprised, thought it was just sales nonsense but it's taken me for 35mpg to 38mpg!
  4. Sounds like it yea. Not worth 100 quid then?
  5. Seen this advertised a lot on Facebook, just wondered if anyone on here has had it done on their mk1 Octy and how it was?
  6. After trying the test wheel in steel grey I actually decided on anthracite in the end and sprayed em up this weekend, and gave the calipers a good Polish. They looked mostly like this all over... Dead pleased with the results. A satisfying weekends work.
  7. Alloys need a refurb to tried out the spare today just to see what the colour looked like. Went for 'Steel' from Simoniz as I wanted something darker than the standard silver. It's not quite as dark as I thought but I'm pleased. WIll be doing the other four in a couple of weeks. My step dad helped me with it, turns out he's really good with a spray can and I also found out that he spent years spraying cars and did an apprenticeship in it many years ago. Handy.....
  8. Happy with that. I think this is how to get it removed. This is a link I've seen in a seperate thread: It's obviously on a LHD. Once in you'll be able to check it's working. So I make that £45 for the trim (£20), Gear knob (£15) and motor (£10). Will they all go in one package for a fiver? How would you like to be paid? PM me if you like. Cheers Jon
  9. See that's weird because the electric windows is the only thing that does work...
  10. Awesome. Can I take the console trim and the gear knob then? Can they be posted together to save on postage? I'm also after a recirc motor for my AC flap if you have a working one?
  11. Cheers guys. Will have a look tomorrow if if time allows.
