  1. Hi there, I'm still on the trail of getting my remote steering controls working. I have found that there is a converter for Can Bus systems but not fo normal systems. I have called Skoda and have said that my Superb is Can Bus as it is registered 2003. However delivery inspection is March 03 so it is early in the year. I have looked at the radio connecters and they look like normal connecters, not the big black can bus style. I'm uninformed in this stuff so can anyone give me any hints please? It is a 1.8t 03 Superb it has dot display etc. Thanks
  2. Hi there, Has anyone replaced the HU on a Superb with an after market stereo and managed to get the controls working on the steering wheel? I have fitted an Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35 to my Superb and can't get the steering controls working. I have tried the official Blaupunkt harness but it is for Octavia's but no dice. Is it easy to get to the leads for the controls? Do they feed into another unit before going to the stereo? Surely the system should be the same as the Octy's? The only leads that I have found on the green plug is the data lead and the clock lead. The data lead controls the standard stereo but not my Blaupunkt, even with the converter fitted. Please help.
  3. My 03 Superb comfort was also missing the Brolly. I replaced mine with a brolly fromm Marks & Spencer. It's dark grey, £15.00 and has a button that extends it and closes it just like the real one.
  4. Thanks for the tip regarding "giving it a tug". I bought a aluminium stubby a while back and was stumped by the anti theft device and didnt want to break my new car by yanking the aeriel. I just went down and put the new aeriel on. Not sure if I like it yet, looks like I've docked it's tail. I'll give it a couple of days to see if it grows on me.
  5. Looks like I have a mini project coming up. Time to take the steering wheel apart and get see if I can get the wires connected up. I do think it is Skoda's fault and also the fault of all car manufacturers. If they can't provide a stereo that has everything i.e DAB, MMC, perfect SatNav, MP3, perfect quality sound etc etc (which of course they can't) then they should make their systems viable for upgrading.
  6. Has anyone replaced the HU on a Superb with an after market stereo and managed to get the controls working on the steering wheel? I have fitted an Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35 to my Superb and can't get the steering controls working. I have tried the official Blaupunkt harness but it is for Octavia's and also the Nashville isn't listed as supported. Please help.
  7. I have tried the official Blaupunkt Skoda Octavia adapter for the steering wheel controls but it doesnt work. The wiring for the Octavia is different to the Superb. The data lead that runs the steering controls and Maxi Dot is in a differnt location on the green plug. All you have is two wires, one for data and one for the clock. It's bloody anoying, I'll try to get it working with the system sold by Autoleads next. It's ridiculous that Skoda don't build cars that can have the stereo upgraded, especially as the Symphony system can't have DAB added.
  8. Hi all, i searched these forums when I was looking at fitting DAB to my Superb and I found the topics and post to be very informative. So i thought I would pass on my observations in case it can help anyone else. I have a 2003 Skoda Superb Comfort 1.8T which I am very happy with (excellent car in pretty much every way). Anyway for xmas my wife bought me a Blaupunkt Nashville DAB35. I had a BMW 5 series at the time and fitted the stereo and internal glass mount aeriel with no hassles and the DAB worked very well. Anyway I got rid of the BMW and removed the stereo (the aeriel broke as the two thin wires snapped and stayed stuck to the windscreen). I was reluctant to put the Nashville in my Superb as I didnt want to lose the cd changer/steering wheel control and info dot display. So I bought the Acoustic Solutions DAB converter from Argos. Top tip, don't bother, It absolutley sucks. The wiring connecters are very poor quality and the whole thing looks very cheap. Also it doesnt work as the reception in crap. Taking that hunk of junk back. Anyway, I decided to fit the Nashville and I'm so pleased that I did. I stripped some wire and removed 2 x single strands and soldered them onto the broken antenna and put it back on the windscreen with diamond clear modelling tape (looks just as good as the original). Then fitted the Skoda connecters straight into the stereo. And everything works perfectly, No door lock probs or alarm errors. I've just ordered the steering wheel converter lead from Blue Spot so at least I'll have that backin order and the Nashville takes SD MMC cards so the 6 cd autochanger won't be missed. The only thing I'll lose is the info dot display which isnt much of a loss (anyone know of any way to get this running from a Bluapunkt? There must be a way) All in all I'm really please with the sound quality and the DAB has excellent reseption even without connecting the power leads (may connect them up some time). I live in Berkshire and the reception is great. The sound is a lot clearer than the symphony HU and it looks better.
