  1. Thanks for pictures, i'm sure it will come in handy as i'm planning a few bush replacements too. I have to replace the upper and lower bush where the dog bone bolts into, was the sub frame easy to unbolt? Also does it knock out the alignment?
  2. This might not to be everyone's liking, but I run Quantum Synta 10w40 in my remapped BWA TFSI estate and have been running it for the past 15k with no ill effects. I was also having really bad oil consumption, I was using Quantum Platinum 5w40 oil and replaced the breather filter but it was still using too much oil, was losing 1 litre every 500 miles! I picked up 5 litres of 10w40 from TPS for something ridiculous like £12, so bought 4 cans of the stuff. I ran some engine oil flush through it, drained the oil, filled it up with 10w40 to flush out any remaining engine oil flush, drain again, replace the oil filter and re-filled with 10w40. I now stick to a 6k engine oil change and i find the engine is smoother (mines on 135k) and it uses 1 litre every 3-4k depending on how its driven. Take it as you will, but i think this is a possible solution for those who can't afford an engine rebuild!
  3. Just swapped out some 5 year old KYB Excel-G shocks. Both were completely shot, replaced with Bilstein B4 shocks and new bumpstops. Difference is like night and day!!
  4. Sorry to hi-jack the thread chaps. I have a 2006 Octavia VRS estate TFSI and looking to refresh the rear suspension. My bump stops are shot to pieces so I ordered some new bump stops and some new Bilstein B4 shockers as the old shocks look tired. I was also looking to replace the rear springs but having trouble tying to find the correct set for my car, my local parts shop weren't able to provide me with a part as my car has sport suspension. I had a look on the KYB web catalogue and its suggesting KYB RH7121 for the rear, however it says its for cars with a standard chassis? I want to keep the ride height OE so standard springs for a VRS estate are what i'm after. Has anyone recently bought standard rear springs for a VRS estate? If so can you share the P/N with me? Thanks!
  5. Could be wishbone rear bushes. Changed mine out and the issues you described were sorted, now need to replace the lower engine sub frame bush where the dog bone mount bolts onto.
  6. When was the timing belt and water pump last replaced? Could be either a fraying belt or bearings on the water pump.
