  1. Took advantage of a decent deal on a Mk7. Looking forward to the 7.5 in 3 years
  2. My mk7 arrived earlier this week. No DCC, 18" cadiz. It replaced a mk2 octavia vrs blackline. A couple of things I was curious about and can now answer: I don't miss the leather (yet) and golf's seats are very comfortable. The standard suspension setup feels firmer but overall more comfortable as it seems to handle bumps better than the vrs did. Steering is so sharp and flat around corners, sounds great, looks great. I am very happy...
  3. Now ordered the outgoing model from G2L (personal, £240, maintained, 9+35, 5000 miles) Just a little excited. I did get a quote for the mk7.5 at £290 maintained but the difference pays for the insurance and I probably wont miss the new toys.
  4. Thank you. That is just what my wallet wanted to hear
  5. Does anyone have first hand experience coming from a Octavia VRS MK2 to a Golf R (without DCC) and can comment on the ride quality...sad question I know but must spare at least a moment to consider use with the family. Had a quote for an outgoing mk7 Estate (£245 inc VAT, 8k, 9 months down, 3 years, fully maintained) but with no options. A similar quote for 'mk7.5' with dcc is £100 more!
  6. During last post I got distracted and missed goneoffski's post... So frustrating to not have that as an option when it's available on the hatchback
  7. OK cool,I can't seem to find this on the main site, configurator or finance calculator. Do you have a link handy?
  8. Any ideas why the Monte Carlo estate is not available with the 1.2 110 engine with dsg?
  9. I wonder if it applies to deals like one from Simpson Skoda on the Octavia RS230. Shame its not the dsg version, very tempting!
  10. Looks like Skoda are following the VW £1000 discount for existing customers. I guess it was always on the cards but nice to get an email today to confirm it.
  11. Me too however I can no longer make the 11th - so if anyone wants them please PM me
  12. Thanks Nemtex I think that confirm that I need to get my hands dirty and check everything again. Look forward to reading about your other 'discoveries' during your install
  13. I used to own a Lupo GTI and I was always mocked when I suggested it was actually quite rapid. on a normal road the Lupo GTI, with 6 speed Manuel, is just as quick as my standard VRS CR. I would imagine the remap would give you the advantage - but not a lot. I have been playing catch up since getting rid of that car (family etc) and happy to be back on par with the GTIs but have all the practicality the vrs offers
  14. Where will he put the pram and shopping?! I would be really interested to see how you get on - it will take me a while to play with mine
  15. Forgot one question - in regards to keeping the power cable and speaker cable. So literally I should expect the power down one side of footwell and speaker cable on the other side?
  16. Thanks for your replies. Appreciated. tweeters were set to -3 during the install as they seemed to distort when turned up and set at 0. The filter was set to full but i moved high pass and set quite low (about 60-70hz) as well as adjusting the gains. Having spent some time with them now, running them in, I am really pleased with the overall sound. Stereo imagery and mid bass is great - I think having tweeters set as they are do slightly dull the treble but having compared the sound to my kit in home the difference is minimal and suits my taste and given the tweeter location in the Octavia mkII it's probably for the best. So as soon as I get some time I must actually see and check the earth location to see if its clean Next idea, mentioned above, will be to see if i can get hold of another unit with rcas and see if it makes a difference. I wonder if any audio suppliers would be willing to actually try something like Lc6 with my car without charging or me making any commitments - worth making some calls me thinks.
  17. Decided that it was worth investing in an amp and components for my Octavia and need some assistance. Having installed a Focal Fpp2100 and focal 165 v30 comps using the high level input option on the amp I am getting a fair amount of hiss and 'electrical' noise from the tweeters. I must have reviewed a hundred articles on hiss and noise but still slightly confused! Does anyone have experience of adding an amp to a stock Headunit (Amundsen +) with the same issue. The amp is located under the front passenger seat. The noise is reduced but still there even if I turn the gains all the way counterclockwise and the Headunit volume is 0 with car not running. Any advice would be welcome
  18. Having been a watcher on the forum for some time and taking delivery of a VRS TDI in October I thought it was about time i commented on how happy i am so far - it just a great all round car, enough said! i should also thank welsh Kai boy for the info on BT in the Blackline config...the audio installer I worked with were very surprised this was possible and following the guide I managed to get this done for a 30 mins labour and price of the mic. I also need some advice - but as its audio related I will post in the ICE section and would be grateful if you could take a look. Cheers!
