  1. Oddly enough mine has just done exactly the same. Have you tried the comfort feature, using the key to unlock and hold to open windows? Hewesy
  2. Oh dear, just fitted a Lion! Only battery in size, amp hour, in stock (car needed tomorrow) - I'm not deliberately ignoring advice guys. 3yr warranty so any issues will be going back. 12.6v at rest and 14.4v when running across the terminals, bit healthier! Hewesy
  3. I know when they did my passenger side front the specialist I used showed me the jig he had made to ensure it went in correctly (he know's I'm geeky on tools!). Might be time to use another place mate? Any local Indy specialists about? Hewesy
  4. Cheers guys, much appreciated. Looks like I can get an Exide locally too. Thanks Jrjg, I think mine is still just the earlier version, but duly noted on fit! I have a mk1 MX5 with the battery in the boot - it tries to jump around if the clamp isn't nice and tight! Needs vent pipes too, always interesting as it is opposite the fuel tank... Hewesy
  5. Cheers for the quick reply, Euro Car Parts do have a battery for about £60, Lion I think is the brand. Like you say, likely to last the life of the car - or at least my ownership! Just put a meter across and it's kicking out a heady 9.6v. Probably the few tries I gave it have taken a chunk of what was left. Any fitting tips? Hewesy
  6. Hi All, long time no speak and all that! Come out this am and been greeted with a "whurr" when trying to start the car. The Central locking still works, dash lights come on but as soon as I turn the keyy everything goes out, including the clock. It's always started first time till now. It still has the original battery (2005-2014, pretty good!) So that's my first guess. It's only been sat unused for a week and ran started perfectly when I last used it, but I guess the last short journey wasn't long enough to recoup the start. So, looking at Euro Car Parts it seems I'm awash with choices! I'm thinking a mid level Exide for about £80 unless anyone has any better suggestions? It's "only" a 1.4TDi, no mods and I just want it to start every day! Hewesy
  7. I'd take it back to check, the passenger switches might have failed causing a short and then causing the odd drivers side failure. You can pop the switches out without removing trim - look underneath for the hole and use a small screwdriver (tip wrapped in gaffer tape) to pop the catch and lift out. Cheap fix if they are duff, your dealer should take back if you don't use them (check first!). Hewesy
  8. Mine had this, common fault I believe. New mech sorted it, easy part to order from your dealer. Crawling thru the boot loses it's charm quickly... Hewesy
  9. Thanks GTI Fly, where did you source the 3m from? Is it headlight specific? Hewesy
  10. Thanks Benjiman, I've ordered Meguiars clear polish as I've also got an old MX5 which could use the plastic rear screen cleaning, gone a touch coudy! Thanks guys, Hewesy
  11. Now that's a great tip, thanks Jason, And thanks Lee, it does look like Meguiars plastic polish, now I have Googled it following your suggestion. Never heard of it, one for the list! Hewesy
  12. What did you use, just the wet dry Jason? Whats the black tube, polish? Hewesy
  13. Thanks chaps, how do I ask the parts folks whitep? Sorry not been around for a while and probably missed something! Hewesy
  14. Some great replies and demo's there guys, many thanks. Jason, do you use the wet sandpaper by hand then use the rotary polisher to apply the polish compound? Luckily my wife has a Dremel with polisher wheels and rouge for jewellery work so we should be good to go. Thanks again, Hewesy
  15. Wow, great replies guys. I'll check out the kit but will take a closer look at the wet sanding too. My wife makes jewellery so have access to some proper display polish for the final shine up. Cheers! Beers owed. Hewesy
