Hi all, we've spent quite a bit of time recently perfecting our 1.6TDI Software. We have a good few cars runnig it with great success. Power delivery is much the same as standard, just more of it everywhere. Typical power output is between 139 and 142bhp. Depending on how you drive, MPG is up between 2- and 4mpg. We can also offer a more conservative calibration with a little less power and a little more economy dor anyone interested in going down this route. On a 2011 car, you will likely need ECU removal before any Self loading system can be used unfortunately. Rick

You're looking at a solid 200bhp, more if you do a cheeky DPF removal.. Rick

Yes, spot on. You have to get pretty aggressive with the timing before the noise starts to be noticeable. At part throttle where the economy driving is, the cylinder pressures are still pretty low Rick

The 1.6's do very well from a map also. Regarding fuel efficiency, this comes about for two reasons. 1. the extra torque means less gear changing and generally a lighter right foot. 2. Re calibrated injection timing. This is the real key, and also the hardest thing to tune on the car. Altering the point at which the fuel is injected changes the burn characteristic My aim when tuning is to time the burn to give the most kinetic energy to the piston and not simply escape out of the exhaust valve. The 100 cell cats give very little restriction but it is a struggle to pass the MOT. To be honest, the 200 cell cats can struggle too. The key thing is to get them as hot as you an before the emission test is done, half an hour or so of spirited driving can work wonders. Rick

What I am saying is that the blacklist as you call it is fully automatic and changes depending wheter the last scan is detected as standard or not. There are practical and ethical issues here. If a car has an engine component fail as a result of a map, then it's either because of a particularly bad calibration or because the tuner/owner has just pushed things too far. In that case, I wouldn't expect warranty to be honoured or be comfortable trying to deceive the warranty provider. I have Audi TTRS/RS3 owners running 500hp plus, these owners are under no illusions regarding warranty. Touch would, no issues yet! The point I'd like to make is that jsut because your car has had a remap, don't be under the impression that suddently no warranty work will be honured, as that isn't the case. Thanks, Rick

When scanned, the modified ECU an set a marker on the Audi Database which signals car is modified. Audi HQ will not honour drivetrain warranty claims. The dealer can at their discretion. If the ECU is returned to original state, and read again by dealer, the marker is removed. This means you can take it to any dealer and warranty will be honoured by Audi UK. This is from investigation and personal experience. However, we have never had a car fail that requires warranty work as a result of a remap. Just water pumps, tensioners, that kind of thing. Some insurance companies are more flexible than others. Regarding warranty, if the dealer decides they don't like it, the car can be put back to standard and the warranty is no longer void which is better than 1 strike and you're out. Rick

I would budget 4 hours. The fine tuning shouldn;t take too long as the cars are still very new and so unlikely to have any issues with worn parts etc. However, it still takes time to get the datalogs to check everything is exactly as it should be. Thanks, Rick
