  1. I have a late 2012 rs wagon with CTHE in Aus. I had the oil jets and ecu updates because of oil usage problems, under warranty. It markedly reduced oil consumption. It was using up to 700ml per 1000 kms. Since the last service the car has done almost 4000kms and I have topped up with 650ml of oil. If it was all motorway driving that figure would be near zero, but I do a lot of 10 km trips to work and back so, not too bad.
  2. I had my vRS 4 year service done a couple of weeks ago. 50000kms on it. The plugs were definitely needing replacement by this stage. I also told them that the DSG didn't feel right, with shuddering on take off, clunking and banging into gear at times. Well I don't know if the spark plugs not firing properly at take off speed or if they did a reset or a software update...but I drove the car away from the dealers thinking that I had a new one. Massive difference. I looked in the boot...no sticker.
  3. After almost 50000kms I have just changed from the original Continentals to Bridgestone re003. They seem much smoother, I suppose because as you wear tyres down, you loose rubber and hight and some give. Also the re003's have some serious grip!!
  4. I'm no expert but you have less caster on the front left than the front right, which should give you a tendency to wander left. It even says that on the wheel alignment. My car pulls a bit left as well, but I haven't had an alignment done since new....and 40000kms.
  5. My CTHE has used about 1 litre of oil in 9500kms since the jets were done. BUT mine wasn't a major oil user at highway speeds. It has just had it's three year service with 38000kms and is, as it should be, running strong.
  6. OK then, but what about this K&N set up that includes the bottom air box, K&N Filters Performance Intake Kit 57S-9505
  7. My Sept 2012 CTHE has done over 5000kms since the oil jets and software were done. Has used about 500ml . Almost all of the kms were short runs to work. Just did a nice 660km highway run. It was due for a good clean out. It used to use up to 700ml per 1000kms. As per OzFabia, I had no problems getting it done as once my dealer knew I was serious about the oil use, they arranged to get it fixed.
  8. Well the oil is so thin, like water, so if you snooze....you lose!! And you could have a point about being upside down but.....
  9. Yes...I know what OzFabia is taking about. I think it happens more when the oil is between the hatched area and the top orange bit. I just checked mine, HOT, and had the same problem. I tried a slightly different method.......Pull out dipstick, clean, put in dipstick.....as soon as it bottoms out in the tube, pull it out quick, and check. Don't leave dipstck in the tube. One quick movement, down and up. My car has done 2400kms since the jets were done and still very little movement on the oil level, and oil staying much cleaner!!
  10. We had Shell V-Power Racing 100 here for a while. It was V-Power 98 with 5% ethanol to boost the octane rating. It was eventually withdrawn. My best guess would be because of a lack of sales.
  11. Heat is always going to be a problem with forced induction. In Australia, the recommended fuel for the Vrs is min 98 octane. 95 isn't mentioned. Well, it sort of is in brackets.
  12. Car had about 28400 kms when oil jets fitted. Now 30000 kms. Didn't have an official oil consumption test. I just advised the service manager of how much it had used in 1000 kms.(about 650-700ml). He said to bring it in for a software update that played with the oil pressures,(reducing) I was then told they wanted to do the oil jets as well, so booked it in for them. Now seems to be great but of cause, still keeping a check on oil levels. ps. Just remembered that when the jets were done, I also thought the spark plugs were changed as it was cold idling very smoothly. Still is!!
  13. 1. They wanted the car for 24 hours. It was dropped off in the morning and was supposed to be finished next morning. The next morning I was told they would need it for longer as the goop they used to seal the sump wasn't set as it got cold here overnight. Was actually ready by that afternoon but picked up the next day. 2. Just Jets, new oil and filter. Software update was done a few weeks before. Nothing else. 3. No other changes. Car now done 1500 kms. Exactly as wesleyuk has said above....no smoke from exhaust, rear window cleaner....no noticeable oil usage.
  14. I have done 1500 kms since my oil jets and software update were done on mine(CTHE). All good so far with no noticeable oil use. My exhaust tips and rear hatch are much cleaner than before. Get it done and enjoy!!
  15. A couple of weeks ago I had an ECU update and I suspect new plugs and this week I have had the oil jets done. Mine is a Sept 2012 CTHE. At no point did I have an official oil consumption test. I assume that is because there isn't many Skoda dealers in OZ and they simply know that if you tell them it's using 700ml/1000kms that 1...you aren't lying and 2....they know some use oil and need fixing. Even better was that I had a Yeti 4x4 2.0TDI as a loan car and now I know what my next car is!! How awesome are they?? When I have done a couple of thousand more K's and I know what it's oil consumption is like, I will do a write up.
  16. Nasty....looks like it did it's job and saved you. RIP :(
  17. My car had a type of oil consumption test done. I told my dealer how much it used in 1000kms. It was about 700ml and it had been using around that amount consistently. I went for a highway drive of about 700kms and it used about 50ml. There is a lot to be said about a good blast on the open road, loaded up with 3 adults and luggage to get the engine working. Anyway, the car went in for some type of ECU update. I'm not sure what they did to it but it was like a new car. Very crisp and nice gear changes. I suspect they changed the plugs as the car cold idles like it was when new. Even better still, I get some new oil jets (squirters) next month and it was the service manager that said he wanted it done. Can't complain with good service like that!!
  18. Yeah, distance means nothing now.We all live next door these days.
  19. I think this ECU update is a very new thing. A couple of weeks old maybe.
  20. My car (late 2012, early CTHE) uses a fairly consistent 650ml per 1000kms.. Unless it's all highway, and then as low as 300ml/1000kms. I generally do a lot of short trips of only 11kms to and from work. Just enough time for it to get to operating temp. It is going into the dealer next week for an ECU update (must be a very new thing). It plays with the oil pressure. Reducing it. See how that goes. They seem to be trying to reduce pressure to stop the engine from spraying so much oil around through the oil jets and having it misting up and the engine breathing it in. Basically the oil jet fix using software. I'll let you know how it goes.
  21. I think when you read the forum and hear all the negativity about these cars.........the best thing to do is go out for a bit of a rap and use some revs. I did yesterday and holy ****. Doesn't this thing go. Very smooth revving, pulls hard and no miss firing. Just working the way it's supposed to. Love it!! In saying that....those Focus are a sweet looking ride!!
