  1. 21,600 miles on a 4x4 Elegance purchased October 2009. 1st service at 18000 miles at a cost of £170. Nearly ready for a fresh set of tyres. Items replaced: Windscreen, front nearside wing, headlight, front bumper & bonnet (I hit a skip!). I've also had both back doors resprayed, clear plastic covers and mudflaps fitted due to excessive stone chipping. Rattles galore, but am generally very happy with it.
  2. 'The only fault really that i noticed was the start of gravel rash in front of the back wheels which I have addressed thanks to the plumber posting part numbers for the protective foils that are or are not fitted at the factory with the off road package (I have the off road button etc but no foils) they are virtually invisable but now stop the paintwork getting damaged.Cost was about twenty pounds each plus vat from a vag/skoda parts specialist.' Me too. My car is a Sep 09 Elegance in silver with the panoramic roof. I'm on the 2nd windscreen which iself is well stone chipped, not a fault of the car I know but the appalling state of our post-snow, let's see how many potholes we can avoid without ripping a wheel off, unrepaired South Wales roads. I've now done nearly 14k and noticed yesterday whilst washing it, a lot of stone damage in this same area. In fact there are several what can only be described as blisters, on both sides of the car, where following a stone chip the paint has risen. I'm rather unimpressed with this and shall be visiting the dealer on the way home this afternoon for some advice on this matter. On the plus side, the engine is a vast improvement in refinement on the the 2.0 TDI PD, but not I think on power. As has been mentioned the boot space with the spare wheel in situ is pathetic, probably similar to but seems less than, a Fabia, but mpg remains excellent at around 50 on the motorway. I struggled in the snow even with 4wd, and have since bought steel wheels and winter tyres. Not worth the RRP of 22k in my eyes. Will more than likely buy an Octavia next time round.
  3. What are my options, take it back to the dealer?
  4. Me too! I jumped in my Yeti last Thursday morning to be met by a 4" crack travelling horizontally approximately half way up the drivers side A pillar. There is no obvious source of impact. I phoned Skoda insurance, to be passed to another phone number as the underwriter has changed. I spent 15 mins on the phone and informed that I would be contacted by my local Autoglass centre within 2 hours. This was 09:00 hrs. I phoned Autoglass myself at 14:30 hrs as I had heard nowt. They had no record of my vehicle and spent another 15 mins giving them the same details as previous. The next available 'slot' for fitting was in 13 days time, as they are 'very busy' and Yetis are 'rare', and my windscreen is laminated and presents no danger to myself. I now have to drive for the best part of 2 weeks with an increasingly growing crack right in my line of sight. I am less than impressed, even more so that there is no evidence of impact, therefore it coukd be a stress crack and therefore it could happen again.
  5. I've got a Black 3 with a white roof. Bought it straight from the showroom un-registered with £2100 off list. I'd never pay £350 for it myself.

  7. I don't find the 1.9TDi any noisier than my VRS. I don't miss 6th gear either. You do get a flip key with a sport. One 'must have' is the Maxidot display, this has an engine temp gauge that the standard dashboard hasn't. Check it out for yourself. I think it's the best feature on my '3'.
  8. Totally agree with the previous post. I've already mentioned the pseudo metal handles that are light years behind in terms of quality that of a MK1. The glove box seems bigger in a MK2 but I find I have no room for the handbook pack if I keep a pouch of cd's in there. The sun visors actually cover about a 3rd of the screen each with a big gap in the middle, although the drivers visor does now contain a mirror. Whoopee! I haven't found climatronic any better thus far (1200 miles in 10 days) but really do appreciate the sun glasses holder:thumbup: My old VRS SE (767) sold for 12K with 14.5K on the clock. Incredible
  9. Of course I should, and indeed I do. It's just the red seat belt light, the maxidot message and then ding bl**dy dong when you do anything over walking pace. I get the message, and don't need telling 3 times
  10. I've had 5 Fabia Vrs's and never had any rear disc problems either. The only benefit of drums is that the alloys need less cleaning. I believe rear discs are fitted when the ESP option is selected.
  11. What they give you in one hand, they take away with the other. Adjustable height passenger seat was standard on a polo sport in 2002 (I had one). The central arm rest is something I can do without, how are you meant to change gear or use the handbrake with it down. How much does the aux input cost? My car is the 1st I've seen with more than 100 bhp with rear drums, a regressive step I'd say. Another 'extra' must be the completely annoying seatbelt warnings whenever the belt is unplugged. Another carry-over (with the central armrest) from the golf/plus that is unecessary.
  12. Mine was from stock. I'm not aware of any 3 extras over an Elegance. Sport seats are better, but still oddly different to a Mk1. I've seen the cups in the handbook, I wonder if they can be ordered via the dealer?
  13. I picked up a MK2 Fabia 3 1.9 Tdi and part ex'd my VRS SE last Monday. It is in Black with a white roof and sunset glass. Bought with 2k off list price. My observations this far: Horn - sounds awful compared with the VRS dual tone, it could be a Fiesta :( Cruise Control - With the 4 spoke wheel it is impossible to see the set / reset buttons on the end of the stalk. Lack of heated seats - standard on MK1 Elegance. I agree with the previously mentioned lack of underseat storage, extremely underwhelming door handles and un-supportive seats. One of the worst points is the lack of oddments storage in the front of the vehicle with no ashtray or cigarette lighter. Why would anyone need 3 cup holders? Couldn't Skoda have designed a pop-out cup holder as used in the Polo? That said it is very nice & comfrotable to drive and the stereo is very user friendly, but really should offer the multi-disc as an option. It is shown in the user manual. Insurance 50% of what it cost on the VRS
  14. It took me 25 mins to get the drive-away insurance sorted this morning, its underwritten by Zurich, and my policy is already with them. Still made no difference, 101 questions and countless inane corporate messages. My car hadn't arrived by Saturday, It had better be ready by Thursday at 15:30..
  15. Saw your car in the front car park on Saturday Babs. All the 07 (yours included) cars didn't have the no. plate holders with the garage name at the bottom. I'll take mine off the 06 and fit them to the 07. P.S. Your headlamp protectors were made in Australia. Haven't they come a long way ?
