I am a serial car changer...to a deranged degree. I have previously owned a Fabia 2 1.6TDI, a Fabia 2 vRS, a Fabia 3 mpi, a Fabia estate, a Superb 2 1.8 SE, a Roomster 1.2 I have just put a deposit on a new Superb 1.5 SEL DSG estate in Graphite Grey today. Looking forward to it

Did you buy it? If so, how is it?

I would like to know too. I assume it needs the stalk changed, possibly it being coded.

Hi all. Back in the Skoda family after quite a break. Previously had a Superb 1 and two Fabia 2s (1.6 TDi and VRs). Just upgraded/downgraded from a 2018 W213 Metcedes E Class estate. Parking is so easy now! I think I have done 700 miles in the first 10 days and so far averaging 54mpg according to the car. Best motorway run so far is 63mpg over 100 miles. Car is March 17 with 20k miles, ex VAG lease car. I may be being picky but can perhaps hear some gearbox input/clutch noise. Annoyingly, the driver's internal door handle stopped working 3 days ago. Main observation so far is how much more fun it is than the Merc I had. The engine does feel quite limited at times but it is better than a Fiat Panda I had. The main road nearest my house is pretty steep and demands a lot of 2nd gear to get up. The last car was a 195PS 9 speed automatic diesel and so it was really very highly geared (40+ mph/1000rpm in 9th). 5 gears and 19mph/1000rpm or so is such a difference and feels like a throwback to the 90s. I have been driving very hard on quick A roads and cruising at 60 on the motorway. I do wonder if I should have bought the 95PS TSi but this was a purchase to get out of car finance. All in all I am really happy

My last car, a BMW Z4 coupe had an intermittent bulb warning. On a Z4 forum they said it was potentially a duff bulb. It seemed to clear up though... No idea about 2 but maybe fuel shutoff is a bit more noticeable on some cars?

To show that other people have bought from them/to inspire confidence? If it is a paid for classified ad, it increases their exposure on the website

My last car was a 5 year old BMW Z4 and that worried me in terms of its durability and potential for big bills. I bought my Roomster SE for £9900 brand new and am pleased I did. I am happy paying my monthly finance knowing I have a new(ish) car. Advantages over a nearly new? Few really but it is nice to know that the tyres are unworn, there is a full and very comprehensive warranty in place. Does it bother that I will sell the car before I pay for it in full or have a substantial amount of equity? No, not at all.

My car has done 1500 miles so far now and about to do another 300 in the next 24 hours for work. I have added a spare wheel as I hate the idea of getting caught out. Nothing really has gone wrong so far (touch wood). I got stuck in a muddy field last week, a small piece of rubber has come out of the n/s/f runner of the sun blind and there is an occasional squeak from the region of the instrument binnacle. Should I complain about the last two? It is loosening up nicely and cruises at amazingly high speeds given the size of car/engine. However, the fuel consumption has dropped as low as 37mpg when I have been less careful which is a disappointment. Overall I am still very happy with it

I have had dealers telling me that they just destroy receipts although with the switch away from physical service books, they will surely value them more.

For value drop, see this thread http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/316431-residual-value-for-late-2014-63-plate-20-tdi-150-elegance-estate-manual-for-those-interested/

Sodden not soddem
-
well maybe. I got stuck in a VERY soddem field at the Hay festival yesterday. Back there next Saturday and am going to Glastonbury in a few weeks. I could barely walk in the mud so guessing my OE 1000 mile old tyres not the real problem!

LPG?

Welcome from Penarth

My Roomster got stuck in a muddy field last night. The traction control seemed to do nothing to help and in fact I think I may have hindered me trying to finesse the throttle. How should I use it in mud? When I had a Pug 308 with traction control I was in the habit of turning it off in snow to pull away then turning it back on once underway.

I have had loads of ex rental cars and they are usually off the fleet by 10k miles. Look for signs of accidents and for general mistreatment. Not had any problems with mine and they have been very well priced. Saying that, I have never had a Skoda ex rental car.

How could Skoda have made your car better?

So far I have bought a spare wheel. I'm just crazy. -
Fabia or Roomster Brand new alloy wheel and tyre

Grrr only just seen this - picked up a steel spare and tool kit yesterday from the local dealer. A good deal for someone -
Wow. Welcome to the 1970s. Next stop talking about 'the blacks'?

...and your amazing mods. My two week old Roomster SE looks very bland. Climate panel, Amundsen or Columbus, cruise, Monte headlamps and grille, black Gigaro wheels would all suit it well.
