That "Honest John" article is tosh!! We have a new BMW F31 330d with the ZF8 gearbox.Most people and journos rave about it,it is very nice but i think the Fabia 7 speed is better Also, I think the BMW auto boxes are "sealed for life" have been for a while.

Our vRS is going in for its 20K service soon.What is done at this service,just oil & filter with a visual check over? Car is about 16 months old and will be its second service.

Just checked our SD countryman, has 4k on the clock and wants a service in another 16k and/or 07/2015.

Can check our countryman. Our old 120d was 18k/2 years.

I don't want to start a internet/forum fight over service schedules, you will never sell me the idea of long life servicing in a million years, and I've been in the trade for 15 years (Bikes). Its just my personal choice of what a know and have seen. I'm out

I cannot quote numbers for you sorry,just reading on the interweb Some manufacturers you dont get a choice of which service regime you get,It's just long life.It's just my 2c really,i would not touch "long life" on a car if i was going to keep it for a long time ( Out of warranty ).

All i will say is "VAG" and "Oil Sludging" ..... Seems to be a common problem with the 2.0l TFSI now.

If you are planning to keep the car for a long time,do not do the long life sevice plan.Long life servicing if from the devil.

I bought the same wheels for my winter set,also put on some 205/46 16 SV-2's Sitting at work waiting for it to get a bit colder.

The lights in my vRS are dire.Both our Mini and my old WRX had xenons,so it's a bit of a shock.Will have to fit a HID kit brfore winter hits.

Had 49mpg reading the other day coming off the motorway,was sitting around 70 for most of the way.

We went to Germany the other week for a long weekend. We got a new C-Max (as our hire car) with th 1.0 three pot turbo,WOW what a sweet little engine,had to look under the bonnet to see what engine it had. Both my wife and i where blown away with how well it went, not under powerd at all. The new engine and turbo tech is coming on hard and fast.

I did not really run mine in.Just drove it normally. But i did do an oil & filter change at 950 miles.

Can the Mk2 turbos be rebuilt?

I bought some SV-2 's the other day, £57.20 each in 205/45 16 sizing to go on my Seat wheels.I also have a second set of wheels for our C1 with Goodyear Vector Four Seasons. So i'm all set for the winter

The factory fit conti's are 84 load rated.Is this the lowest load rating we can use? I was looking at some 16" winter Goodyears (winter wheels),but they are 83 rated.

I've just changed mine and put "Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40" in it,which is 502.00 rated. Will do it again around the 5k mark.

Anyone tried the Star Performer SPTS AS ?
