  1. Bump, I've got an intermittent EML on, a passenger rear brake light not working and intermittent problems with the passenger front window not always rising on first clicked. I presume I need to replace the G294 sensor. Is this right? Where do I start with the wiring fault? I did have my passenger window regulator replaced a year ago if this helps.

  3. Great I'll try this on the way home! Always good to have something to keep me bored in traffic.
  4. If it's of any help I have a 1.6 petrol and do 2x 10 mile stop start commute. I generally average 35Mpg and I'm not easy on the car. Taking my time I can push it to over 40.
  5. I had my front passenger regulator replaced a while ago. I tested it once and was happy it worked. Since then I've not really used it until now where I've found the issue. It goes down and up fine, but sometimes when halfway down I press up and it goes down. This happens on both driver and passengers controls. i've searched the forums but haven't found an exact match. What could be the issue?
  6. Oops yea I've realised I looked at MK1 and not MK2. Is this more appropriate? http://www.skodaparts.com/product/octavia-a5-rear-bump-stop-2004--33069
  7. Thanks both, so do I need a kit like: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-OCTAVIA-VW-BORA-2-REAR-SHOCK-ABSORBER-PROTECTORS-BUMP-STOP-KITS-/300721905074?_trksid=p2054897.l4275
  8. I had my car in for MOT a few months ago and recieved an advisory for the rear suspension missing a dust cover of some sort. It wasn't at a dealer so they said they couldn't source the part. I forgot all about it, until recently when I noticed a metallic rattling coming from ther rear suspension. Looking over the wheel I could see a circular metal cover was hanging loose. Presuming this went ontop of the rubbery cover on the suspension I pushed it back on and it fit snugly. A week or so later it's dropped off again. Searching about I can't seem to find anyone explaining the same issue. What's wrong and how do I fix it?
  9. What tab is this? Maybe that's what I'm missing?
  10. Getting them out from the spark plugs hole is easy, it's prying the black connector apart which connects it to the electrics.
  11. Don't forget, this is only counting people who use the forum, and that will generally be older people (no offence Gramps ). I don't know anybody else who uses their car forum in my age group. I'm 22.
  12. I'm following the guide http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=141031 to change my ignition coil (misfire in #1). I'm getting stuck at pulling apart the plastic casing which hold the wires connected to the coil pack. I've tried with all the strength I dare use to pry these apart. I'm scared to pull any harder incase I snap the coil pack and have another issue on my hands. Is there a release I need to push in, or do I have to pull them REALLY hard? Also I'm replacing with the cheapest one I found in halfords. Is this going to be suitable or should I change to the offical part when I can?
  13. Hi, I own a Octavia myself and a friend is looking into getting a Fabia so I thought I'd see if you have any advice for me. The two ones she has her eyes on are: She really wants this one but it all depends on if she can get a loan to cover it: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201307057660593/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/2000/maximum-age/up_to_10_years_old/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/model/fabia/make/skoda/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/radius/40/page/2/postcode/s21rw?logcode=p If not she has her eyes on: http://www4.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201308178353876/sort/default/usedcars/price-to/2000/maximum-mileage/up_to_80000_miles/make/volkswagen/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/postcode/s21rw/radius/20?logcode=p We're based in Sheffield and can travel, but not too far away. Budget is below 1.5k, or 2k based on a loan. What would you say about these, anything to look for, are they the price you would reccommend for what they are? All help is appricated, thanks.
  14. For the moment I've managed to slip the aux wire through a tiny gap between the dash pillar and the plastic that covers the steering column. This allows me to fit the devices in the compartment above the gearbox. At a later date I'm going to install it onto one of the spare buttons on the dash. I still have this question though: There's one wire which I can't decide what it's for. It's black and white and has a bullet connector on the end. It reads front left, which I presume means speaker but the front left does has sound from the aux. Any ideas?
  15. For the time being I've mounted it at the back of the headunit.
  16. I've managed to find a torx screw at the back of the radio compartment which seems to be connected to the chassis so this seems ok now. I've got it up and running! A lot easier than what I expected and nice and cheap too. There's one wire which I can't decide what it's for. It's black and white and has a bullet connector on the end. It reads front left, which I presume means speaker but the front left does has sound from the aux. Any ideas?
  17. Ok so the interface has arrived. I'm looking at either the existing earth I can use or where a new one would go, any help of what I should do is appriciated.
  18. Ok thanks. I don't have any future plans in the short term, although when I get some money together I would like a new double din, or I've been considering a car PC. For now I'm presuming then that there is an existing earth I can use?
  19. Thanks Rainbowfire. Based on both of yours advice I have ordered the item. The only thing I want to check is what I need to do with the earth? The ebay item states important Connection Note: Connect Black Wire on adaptor to an earth (Chassis Ground). And Graeme stated: change out the plugs on the bottom passenger side of the unit and find an earth, there are a couple of screws you could use but i scotch blocked the main earth so it was a positive connection. I just want to make sure I have all the parts to fit it as soon as it arrives.
  20. Thanks Graeme B. Well I wouldn't use the Cd changer with this in place anyway so that bit doesn't bother me. What I didn't want to hear is having to remove the head unit and the dash, I'm terrified of either breaking something or not being able to get it back in when I'm done! Do all the options require removing the head unit or is there anything that can be done at the changer? Thanks.
  21. HI, I've got the basic stream headunit and I'm looking to add an AUX. I've heard of a few different ways, but they either involved a lot of wiring and dismantling or the sound quality is poor. The best recommendation that was made to me was: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...3-/300376755833 I can't see exactly how this would work though, does it take off the CD changer, and is it easy to fit? Any other options are welcomed too. I have tried FM transmitter but again it was poor quality. Thanks, Damo.
  22. How easy was the fitting of it? Did the instructions speak for their selves or are you good at that work anyway?
