  1. It was very difficult to tell to be honest, but at its noisiest it seemed more back than front.
  2. Update: fixed! Had rear passenger side bearing replaced this morning, took it for a run on motorway, and the noise is totally gone. Excellent! Thanks again folks for your advice.
  3. Really appreciate the advice guys. So today I took it to my local tire place, they swapped front wheels with back, there was no sign of wear or sawtoothing, but he did find some roughness in the rear nearside bearing. The noise is still there so I'm having the bearing replaced on Saturday. I will report back with results!
  4. Hello all, your help would be appreciated to identify the cause of a weird noise that's just started on my 2009 Superb. Best way I can describe it is a whirring drone, kind of mid-low frequency range, appears at 30 mph and gets louder as spreed increases. Not actually that loud but definitely there, and definitely wasn't there yesterday. It only changes with variations in road speed. No change with changes in engine speed, stays constant with clutch in or out and whatever gear it's in. So it's not engine, gearbox or clutch. Any ideas? Could it be wheel bearings? CV joints? Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance
  5. Ok, an update. Im now getting P0404 code which is another variant of the "EGR not working" issue. And having removed the engine covers, it seems the EGR isnt at the front of the engine after all, and I cant for the life of me figure out where it is. Ive trawled the net for "2.0 TDI PD EGR" and "Skoda BMP engine EGR valve" but none of the pics or videos Ive found look like my engine. Can anyone tell me on the attached photo where my EGR valve is? Thanks in advance
  6. Hi all This afternoon my 2008 Superb II 2.0 TDI PD went into limp home mode with no warning, and a couple of minutes later the CEL and Glowplug lights came on and a 'Workshop' warning appeared.. Switched it off and on again, same thing happened. I ran a scan with my OBDEleven, and got the code P0403 - EGR malfunction. Cleared the fault and it came back. This is the first time Ive had an EGR issue on any car Ive owned, so I could do with some advice from you good people. Im guessing the first thing I should do is take the EGR off and clean it, the engine has done 128000 miles so the valve is highly likely to be gunked up. But is there anything else I should be doing / checking before I get my spanners out? The 2.0 TDI PD engine is the BMP engine code apparently, and it looks like the EGR is at the front of the engine and relatively easy to take off. Does anyone have experience of removing the EGR and / or can point me to an online guide for this specific engine? Any hints or tips to help me out? Or, am I barking up the wrong tree? I know fault codes can sometimes be a bit misleading, so could it be something other than the EGR? Any assistance will be very much appreciated, thanks in advance, Adam
  7. Hello all, just wondered if anyone had similar experience of a dodgy right reversing light and what was needed to sort it? About 80% of the time, I start the car and within a couple of seconds get the bulb warning lamp and a message on the MFD telling me to check the right reversing light. Ive replaced both bulbs, swapped left with right, and still get the warning most of the time. So, Im guessing there is a short somewhere in the wiring for the reversing lights. Before I go dismantling the bootlid, just wondered if anyone could point me to likely fail points in the wiring. Or am I barking up the wrong tree altogether? Thanks in advance Adam
  8. Thanks to you all for the advice. Much appreciated
  9. That's not a bad idea at all. Would save me the hassle of undoing the electronic side of it. How much do you want for the crash beam?
  10. Hi My Superb came with a tow bar when I bought it, and I want rid - it clouts the sloping kerb whenever I drive off from my drive and I will never have a need to tow anything. Apparently its not just as simple as unbolting it and disconnecting some wires - it needs to be 'uncoded' using VCDS. Is this correct, and if so does anyone have any experience of doing this? thanks Adam
  11. Good question - Im following this thread with interest, I have the same problem. occasionally they 2nd hand ones come up on eBay but are almost as tatty as the ones I want to replace.
  12. This should help for starters (think you go into long coding in the Gateway module to find the country setting) How do I display the large MPH display on my maxidot? (needs the latest white maxidot display on newer cars - This may no longer work on some MY12 onwards cars, I tried to code a May 2012 SUPERB and a 2013 Yeti and it rejected the code... it has however worked on other 2013 cars!!) You will need maxidot fitted to the car (as shown above) and someone with VCDS to change the country setting to Australia: To set the country to Australia: To change the country go to 17- Instruments and click on "Coding - 07" Then click on "Long Coding Helper" Finally under Bit 4 select "70 Country: Australia (AUS)" Exit this screen and you will return to the previous screen (with the current & new coding displayed) you see that the long coding has changed, click on "Do it!" all will then be saved. Once you have made the changes with VCDS you then need to go into the maxi-dot menu: SETTINGS Units, "Consu/distance" change this back to mpg (GB), mi (as it defaults to 1/100km, km), then SETTINGS "MFD data" and make sure the box for Digit.speed is ticked You can also remove the KPH display and replace it with the outside temperature: SETTINGS and unticked the "ALT.speed dis." box (this will remove the KPH speed and replace it with the outside temp display)
  13. I'll plug my dongle in tomorrow if I get chance, need to refresh my memory before I go giving you advice!
  14. Hello all Got my 09 Elegance a couple of weeks ago, it came with a towbar which I'll never use and just looks fugly. So how to remove it? It's not as simple as I'd hoped apparently. I don't really know where to start with the electrics, and it's not a case of just undoing a few bolts. The towbar manufacturer have told me that I must refit the "original bumper beam" - please can someone tell me what this is and where I can get one? All advice gratefully received. cheers Adam
  15. Ive done the MPH mod with OBDeleven on my 09 Superb - its pretty straightforward. Can I help?
