  1. Hi, My father has a poverty spec 1.2 Fabia1 2008, bought new and done around 14,000miles. it is one week out of warrenty and a fault has developed with the door locking. I wondered if anyone else has encountered the same problem. the drivers door lock seems incredibly stiff when compared with either the passenger side, or indeed , my own series 1 112,000mile fabia quite often the doors will not lock at all ( the noise of the mechanism seems different when this happens).forcing the key makes no difference. has anybody come accross this? any advice, comments, laughter would be very welcome.
  2. im presuming that there is a gasket between the throttle body and the egr body?
  3. hello, I have (the usual) egr fault code showing and now my EPC warning has come on. bearing in mind that I also have an exhaust blow from the manifold end, could these both be related? 1.4 16v 100bhp money pit. thanks in advance for any advice, your knowledge has really helped in the past and is very much appreciated.
  4. if it's anything like my fabia, then it's coming from the scuttle, below the windscreen. the drains block and cause the area to fill up with water and spill over behind the greater into the footwell.
  5. wash the car first and dry . Most claybar kits come with a lubricant , spray this on the panel, then work the bar in to the lubricant making sure that you keep turning the bar as it becomes contaminated. you,ll. see the flecks appear on the bar. dont let the area youre working on become dry or the bar will start to stick to the bodywork.. .Dont rush, when you are happy with it you can polish straight over the area with a good quality wax and buff off with a microfibre cloth.. I use autoglym, but there are lots of good claykits out there. If youre a bit aprehensive. a decent valeter can "clay"
  6. 1) steering sensor 2) rear window washer supply 3) EGR 4) reversing light switch on gearbox. there is bound to be a five within the next few days
  7. Thank you to all the posts on here, i definately now know my sensor is wonky, My question is , Is there an idiots guide anywhere on here about how to locate the sensor ? i presume the wheelarch liner comes off but where do I go from there. any advise will be much appreciated. 1.4 v16v
  8. put an egr cleaner through the other day and turned eml light off with Bluetooth code reader...the light hasn't come back on and wife says it's going better...time will tell if it really does work.
  9. Ok, thanks, I'll try rainworth...my local dealer can sometimes be a bit arrogant with giving part numbers over the phone of they think that they will not not the job themselves.
  10. ok thanks, ill give it a try, could this be why the egr fault keeps coming up ? wrong fuel, wrong burn perhaps... also anyone know the part number for a steering sensor compatable with the TRW system? Also I presume that if I change any electrical component that the ecu needs to read the replacement part to operate properly thank you all so much for the help on this . this car has been the most problematic ive ever, ever owned and my other car is a citroen !!!!
  11. No, not using superplus or whatever its called, always thought it was just a marketing trick. Am i missguided in this ? Are there real benefits?
  12. no, never ever,..... use a hand wash carwash site instead or a decent valeter and pay the money with good grace.. a lot of them use recycled water with dubious filtering and the brushes are way to aggressive.
  13. Thank you.. looks like its a TRW, i have a better look at the Weekend when I will put some egr cleaner in to hopefully turn off the other warning light.. turning into a money pitt this one .
  14. Slightly off topic, but hopefully wont matter, Does anyone know how to tell which steering rack is fitted without taking bits of car apart... I have diagnosed a faulty steering sensor ( checked battery, earth, alternator etc ) so I need to source a replacement but am of the understanding that there are 2 kinds..... Xreg fabia 1.4 16v. any help would be very much appreicated.
  15. Recently bought a 1.4 16v fabia mk 1. It seemed very low on power, not like I would expect a100bhp to go like. Anyway with no service history I got the cambelt changed today (108,000 miles). Mechanic reakons that it had never been changed before but more worryingly was that the tensioner had collapsed and was knocking about at the bottom not only really lucky that I got away with it but also affecting the timing..new belt, tensioner and waterpump plus obviously re timed up and it goes likes little fire cracker.
