  1. Ok so currently got 2 keys and one remains unaffected so not stranded as we were.in town with both sets but my key today unlocked the car released the steering lock and started the car but after 2 seconds killed the engine with the warning immobiliser active. Allowed the engine to restart but again only for 2 seconds. The other key works as normal thank god. The non working key is new about 2 months ago from the aa and has worked fine since then on at least 10 occasions........ideas
  2. I have this problem too the front badge looks like it needed to be very slightly curved. The sides of the badge arnt fully stuck down but 4 months later its still on quite firmly. Its the sort of thing only i notice because i know about it. I did think id put it on slightly off centre or dun something wrong so at least i know im not alone.
  3. I think high mileage is fine but 196 is more than most would want to touch thats very very high mileage. Any car at that mileage is going to feel tired in many ways other than just engine life.
  4. Perhaps a pipe has come off sumwhere causing boost to escape. I would expect a slight performance increase over a running in period but nothing to compensate for what you describe
  5. I seem to recall although mite be wrong that i saw one of these for the superb that went flush with the sliding cupholder thingy. Other half kindly bought me multimedia bracket 5JA 051 435 A. now this fits in the cupholders but isnt close to flush. It says its for octavia 3 and rapid.Does any have or seen a superb specific one
  6. That sums it up really they only suit as a secind car and not as a daily driver that u need to rely on. Also road noise is very intrusive as the plastic body panels are hardly any use at keeping out noise. All adds to the appeal on short runs but u arrive with ringing ears on a longer journey. Forgot to mention that brabus exhausts are made entirely of rust as they are mild steel with chrome finishers they last literally 2-3 years.
  7. As i said there are a few examples thayhave gone higher mileage but as a percentage the failure rate is horrific and almost unrivaled by any other manufacturer. 1.4tsi not withstanding. Theybare potentially good cars but thwy were hugely under tested and under developed but they are safe give them that
  8. Smarts are great fun but been there done that and got the tshirt and its not a t-shirt id reccommend. The quality control on smarts is very patchy both the 600 and 700cc engines are pretty much knackered at 50,000 and need new rings and a rebuild at this time. A few go further but as a general rule they let go at 50k. The oil needs changing every 5000 miles in order to get any length of life out of the engine. In the smart community roadsters are commonly called leaksters as 99 percent leak in all sorts of places. The turbos have a very very high failure rate for cracking. due to the nature of the engine they are revved alot and as such are unduly stressed. The brabus turbo isnt quite as bad for cracking but they still fail alot. The brabus wheels are attrocious ina number of ways they suffer white worm as badly as any diamond poliahed alloy but they are incredibly soft and withe the hard suspension setup regularly buckle. Brabus ones have been driven harder than standard ones so id be even more dubious about one. Many many have been remapped which accelerate the above engine and turbo problems. On a a good day they are great when its all working they sound incredible and give many smiles. But they are awkward to service which they require often they all leak and the engine will either need to have had new rings or will want then soon and the turbo will crack its not if but when. Also the aircon is very very weak and using it on a hot day will cause overheating if u are in traffic for any length of time as the rear engine engine setup needs alot of air forced through an under car scoop. In short ud have gd days and bad days but they really arnt buy them run them and forget cars.
  9. The octavia despite being the best spec available is based on a mundane mainstream model and so will have all of the characteristics of an octavia so wont be as quiet or ride as well as the superb which is designed to be a luxury product and as such has all of those mannerisms regardless of spec. Much quieter and more refined altho obviously slighty behind in terms of tech conectivity if comparing to a mk3 octavia. Other people are entitled to their own wrong opinion of course
  10. Fair play to that car although sounds like its had some very gentle open road miles but even so. Went in a 60 plate octavia taxi the other day that had done 130k and it was falling apart and seemed completely sha***d.
  11. Because the elegance already has heated front seats as standard
  12. I can report back that it was the fuse after a quick swap with the air con one to test. Quite surprised as like I say the map lights would still come on a tiny tiny bit even with the fuse gone so wudnt have suspected that. On the downside there isn't any spare in the fusebox and all my supply arnt mini blades so without lights until I source one. Comments much appreciated!
  13. Exellent that sounds like a plan for tomorrow I shall report back! Thanks
  14. I did try that and it doesn't seem to make any difference which made me think fuse however like I say the map lights in the front come on at about 2per cent power when u turn them on so surely cudnt be that. It's become one of those situations where wish I hadn't started the job!
  15. Gd evening. So today starting changing the interior w5w bulbs for some 18led ones and big.improvement changed all dome ones no issue got the seat ones in eventually and made a start on the boot ones after installing the first bulb in the boot now none of the interior lights work at all if u open the doors etc or oush the buttons. However when u do push the dome light buttons can just see a few of the less flicker very very faintly. The boot and seat lights do not work at all. The lights in door bottoms are unaffected. So ideas.......
  16. To that line of thinking the superb wud be vulnerable to being dropped.... gd sellers will be kept on regardless and i dont think the larger models grow quite so much as theres more leway to repackage extra kit in. Completely agree tho that it would be nice in manufacturers produced new models in a smarter way not just always larger. Im sure i read the new mazda 2 had to be a certain amount lighter than the previous in every component which i think is a gd attitude to have
  17. Obviously both those posts were for the wishlist thread rather than here no idea how that happened....
  18. And no diamond cut alloys. Mdi as standard. More easily updatable sat nav unit (firmware as opposed to software i know maps are easy) badges that dont tarnish and lower tax bands for equivalent performance
  19. The twin door boot to be retained and fewer blank buttons on top models
  20. Thats prob quite a gd idea actually. I mean still a pain to do i c another afternoon gone ill never get back but better than ive got now.
  21. Yes thats gd that u can do that but obviously searching wont work. Im after being able to have folders so i can search and a random selection across all those folders rather than one or the other. I think that makes sense...
  22. If i was to use the medi i would use the mdi which i would i believe allow.totally random selections but obviously beryarge cost involved over making the sd card do it. I have got a fair bit on the hdd but i fond that it has the same problem as the sd in that it wont randomise so is only any good if i want a specific artists entire album all at once. Also i try not to use hdd alot to prvent wear and failure.
  23. I just find it incredible if the super clumsey way ive been doing it is the best way way that there is as so many people seem to use the sd card. As i wudnt be able to do it myself retro fitting the mdi wud be very expensive.
  24. So u dont have album folders as such just one very long list of the single tracks?
