  1. Just filled up my truck in Spain ... 97c/litre, about 65p at current rates (and it was a shell motorway services not a random brand!)
  2. Hi, is the tuning box a plug and play unit? Fairly simple to install?
  3. If you could do them 75 posted I'll take them
  4. Thanks johngt, sounds like there may be some hope! I'll give them a call - can't hurt to try anyway!
  5. I would guess it has developed from stone chips/road debris thrown off the front wheels
  6. Ok, so even though the sills are pretty bad they would just say that is normal wear and tear due to stone chips?
  7. I've got a high mileage SE, and i was just wondering in peoples experiences of the paint warranty? I 'm not expecting anything would be done about stone chips to the front but along the bottom of the sills has come through very badly, would this be covered? There are a couple of bits I've seen mentioned elsewhere like the rear corners where it meets the bumpers as well. Has anyone any experience with Northampton skoda on this? Or got any advise to help make a claim?
  8. The nut should be captive in the top of the subframe, just undo the bolt from below and it should come out!
  9. Do they? It must be an incredibly soft beam if that's the case as don't they also have springs on each corner?
  10. Usually they are only a 100 section tyre and smaller than standard (hence the term space saver) if I ever have to use them I always make sure to swap them onto the un-driven axle to prevent damage to the drivetrain. Also the load on the rear of a fwd car is nothing compared to the front so you can forget about the 50mph ... Just watch out for a bit of extra oversteer!
  11. Correct on the rebound, but by taking 30mm off the stroke, there is a lot more chance of hitting the bump stops. If running a matched damper/spring set up the bump/compression damping would also be stiffer due to this. The alternative is to shorten or remove the bump stops, you then run the risk of damaging the damper internals when the valve stack bottoms out in the damper. You could also get eibach to coil you some variable rate springs, this would allow you to maximise damper travel without worrying about bump stops. Not normally something I'd worry about on a road car though - that's more when you need to factor in aero loads!
  12. The life of the shocks will not be affected by lower springs, however the effect of the damper will be hampered. The shock is absorber is only there to control the action of the spring, therefore if you fit a stiffer spring the standard damper will struggle to control the spring, resulting in poor handling and ride. Matched spring/damper set-ups are valved internally to suit the increased spring rate. Another thing to consider is the bumpstops, shorter springs on a standard damper will bottom sooner as the travel is reduced. Matched damper/springs will normally have the body length reduced so maximum travel is maintained.
  13. The 9n polo does I think. My door switch does the same thing. I'm told by a friend that is into his vws that it's fairly common, there's a bad solder joint that will need repairing. He's gonna show me when I get chance to pull it apart.
  14. 2nd on the springs if above doesn't go through please, also would like mats and boot floor liner if in good condition?
