Hi all, that is my car all fixed and back on the road after 6 months. The problem was a selector, and it got new clutch assembly's in the process. (Nothing to do with the mechatronics) thanks to all who helped me out. I really appreciate it

Not got a clue bud. I haven't replaced any of them in my time owning it.

The garage never went into detail, once I have it back and I have a rundown on what went wrong and what was replaced I will post it up here to help others. I can see your point in getting the clutches replaced but I'm not willing to spend more than I have to. I have 2 young daughters...think it's time to give the fun car away and get one that's more suitable for my situation. But at the same time I don't want to give it away because SPEEEEEED!!! thanks for everyone's help in this case, very insightful to how the internals of the box works also!

I received a call today just to say they had found a broken gear selector, so that, clutch assembly's, Labour and vat =£1800 all in. And it will be ready early next week. At least it can be fixed. Only my thoughts are going to - if that's the bill for a selector....how much would it be if something else went wrong? Perhaps once it's back on the go it will find itself up for sale.

Quick update - Broken gear selector = £1800ish 😞 away to the pub!

I don't have a clue if service campaigns were carried out, not really sure what they are to be honest. Can't see any stickers in the boot ether. The car is in Charles Butler now yes. Guessing it will take a while to solve and fix so not expecting a call any time soon! I traded in my Monte Carlo tech for this maybe 3 years ago. Suspected clutch? I assume you have not fixed it yet then?

It is a 2011 model, roughly 80k now. Would putting on higher profile tyres help the breakdown? I went from 40's to 45's for a little bit more cushion. Also before it broke down when I had the foot down if 4th it was like it was misfiring, so changed the plugs but still continued.

Hey guys, I went for a little run last night, on start up the engine management light is on (orange) selected drive and going grandad slow it got 1st, 2nd, 3rd then I got reverse. Again into drive going slow I got 1st, 2nd, and put the foot down in 3rd it flashes 'D' screams to the limiter, cuts power and then starts flashing 'D3' from then on I only get 1st, 3rd and 5th, i try reverse and it doesn't do nothing. But if I turn the engine off and on again I can start again with no flashing signs and get reverse once more. The car is getting picked up today and is away to Charles Butler in Forfar - thanks for the tip, only other place I could find was in Glasgow. Fingers crossed it can be fixed!

Hi Guys, I find myself coming for help in the case my Vrs's gearbox has packed up to a certain extent. I was driving on the motorway @70mph, went onto the exit and slowed down to 3rd then it started flashing "3" and went into limp. As I'm having a little panic to myself thinking it's away to give up in the middle of the road it jumped back into gear and drove a little. But it seems the gearbox is very confused, screams to limiter in 1st, then hops to 3rd, then to 5th and vista versa. Diagnostics state gearbox fault. I don't know where or who will fix this, any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated. I know it won't be cheap but does anyone know a garage that can fix? Cheers Darren

Hi all, i have recently bought new better speakers for my Fabia to replace the old ones in the door cards, one has decided to give up completly and every now and again give off a load crackle! I have replaced the 2 front speakers without any problems but...i can not get the back cards off because of the window handles (roll up/down) my question is...how do i get the handles off...without snapping them ofcourse! :-D

Hello to all! I am new to this forum and no doubt im not the first to say im struggling to figure it all out! Ha! I own a Skoda Fabia sport, have done for 2 and a half years now and have loved every minute! I have a couple of questions one of which is ...how do I upload a profile pic/gallery pics?
