  1. Thanks for the advice everyone It sounds like something specific to Xenon lights, I've never had a problem before with lights needing such regular cleaning. I suspect if I did long journeys at this time of year I may feel the benefit more. At the moment I give the headlights a quick once over with my ice scraper when I do the windows, which is sufficient. I do have factory fitted Xenons so it looks like I'll just have to leave them to avoid MOT issues.
  2. I was wondering if it is possible to disable the front light washers. They seem utterly pointless, achieving 3 things 1. Waste screen wash 2. Don't really clean the lights 3. Unintentionally flash traffic, causing mild confusion Any thoughts?
  3. Interesting to read this. After a weekend of heavy rain I just found my passenger foot well flooded. Car (2013 MK2) parked facing up a slope. Checked the leak is coming from under the glove box, passenger door side if you see what I mean. I have contacted Skoda and they will be looking at the car in a few weeks (still under warranty). I will pass on the information above and see if that helps them. Is there anything else, that could have been damaged by the water, I should mention when I take it in?
  4. Thanks for the ideas. Superb170 tried with the reserve keyfob (unused) with no result (car a year old so think it unlikely it is dead on the reserve) Mark, tried running all windows up and down via the keyfob, No joy :(
  5. I've been folding my mirrors from the keyfob for the last year or so. Yesterday it stopped working, from the keyfob - works fine inside the car. Any one had this or have any clues before I phone up Skoda?
  6. Rear windscreen misted last night. As anyone contacted a dealer about this?
  7. Hmm sounds like this is a classic QI Klaxon thread. Still, not very good is it - Do other Superb owners get condensation problems?
  8. Already present on the inside of the windscreen before starting engine.
  9. As the weather gets colder in the Uk, and damper, I find I am often finding all my windows misted up on the Inside. This has started in the last few weeks (car is 4 months old), the misting clears after with wiping and with warming. Affects all windows not just windscreen. First noticed it starting from windscreen air vents, from bottom about 10cm up the window. Now it covers all windows as mentioned, though these could be unrelated issues. I do carry damp gym kit some days, could this be a cause (I think unlikely) or does it point to another problem? Worried car may smell and start to get mouldy + could point to a fundamental problem. I have aircon on and auto-climate selected.
  10. One more question... Why is it called the 'Boot Floor Holding Strap'?
  11. That definitely looks like the answer. I wonder if that would work on the combi. Quite an ornate piece of kit for such a simple task, I wonder if that's it's sole purpose e.g. what are the holes for?
  12. A ha, does it somehow feed into the metal loops almost behind the rear lights? Will have a fiddle tonight.
  13. Isn't there already a hook on elastic thingy for this in the superb?
  14. Yep, this is perfect for the job, looks good, ticks all the boxes. Also bought this set of mats http://www.skodaparts.com/product/superb-4-piece-rubber-floor-mat-set-2008-2014-21288 (for DSG) Can recommend SkodaParts, give great service
  15. Bought this by mistake a month or so ago , forgot about it completely, duly arrived today. http://www.skodaparts.com/product/superb-boot-floor-holding-strap-2008-2013-50575## . Rubbery type material not very stretchy though; about 25cm long. Just wondered what the hell it's for (rude answers not accepted)?
  16. I flay my my knob twice a day and it is still in perfect condition. Have you tried some sort of lubricant? Friction can do nasty things to your knob if not careful
  17. Great explanation wokwon, that has cleared up a couple of things for me as well. I was noticing when stopping at roundabouts, if I took my foot off the brake immediately the car sprang forward. Whereas if I stopped, for more than a few seconds, the car needed much more encouragement. My drive is on a slope, so when I start up I should make sure the brake pedal is depressed for a few secs before hill-hold kicks in. Good to know what might have been thought of as little idiosyncrasies are in fact by design.
  18. Greenfieldboy, you're right - caprine sacrifice had no effect, maybe another species? Mike, tried the whole 45 degree thing with no effect. I have the spent a fare while trying different combinations, with the rest bit pulled fully forward + without and at a variety of attitudes Maybe I have a dud, do most people find this easy in their car; I mean am I just a complete numpty? please note last bit of self-deprecation was an attempt at humour, I'm not really a numpty - I think.
  19. Manual is a chocolate teapot on the subject, how the hell do I raise the height on the centre armrest? I've tried different scenarios and it does it occasionally but not consistently. I love it raised!! I'm off to sacrifice a goat now to see if that helps, but in the meantime any other suggestions?
  20. Using this feature a fair bit in the UK at the moment. Useful when it's hot, to have the windows open before you get in, just takes the edge off the temperature.
  21. Yeah but what does she know? (I'll get my coat)
  22. Watching the Tour de France over the weekend I noticed many Superb support cars, this got me to thinking: What is the status of Skoda and in particular the Superb in mainland Europe? In the Uk, however hard it battles, the brand still has a stigma associated with it from the old Eastern Block days. In my experience only more knowledgable people are aware of the whole VAG thing and the unrecognizably improved Skoda Quality. I suspect by it's association with cycling the brand is more highly thought of in Europe than in UK. Interested to hear people's thoughts, particulaurly European. (By 'European' here I am refering to mainland Europe; though the UK is still technically part of Europe we are still happy to refer to it as though we are not)
  23. I'm interested in a seat cover for my leather, particularly the driver's. Anyone got any recommendations?
