  1. Sold, after a bunch of PMs! Keen price did the trick. Sorry Santaclart, you were closest to the first person to say yes, only a minute or so behind!
  2. I should add that I can only find one key at the moment. When I bought it the 2nd key had a broken transponder and had lost the keyring loop. I always meant to get it replaced, but I've stuck it in a drawer somewhere and I can't find it since the missus never drove it.
  3. She's up for sale! http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/335260-2001-octavia-vrs-broken-whole-car-only-%C2%A3250/
  4. I recently crashed my black '01 Octavia vRS, so she's up for sale. Whole car only, priced keenly to help get her off the drive ASAP in one go. I don't want to break, but someone is welcome to pick her up to do so; I just don't have the time and my neighbours would hate me. The crash was front-nearside, low speed, and the other car hit me almost perfectly on. It pushed the steering hub in by about 6cm, smooshed the intercooler (but didn't puncture it, it still drives without cooling problems) and obviously scratched the wheel a bit, bent the wing and bent the bumper. It's definitely fixable, but it's outside of my expertise and patience to do. It's not standard, so you get some (maybe cool?!) extras thrown in: Forge DV, an aftermarket TIP and a 210bhp ECU flash. It boosts like a champion and it pulls strongly. There's around 155K miles on the car. I had it MOT'd about 4 weeks before, so there are four new Dunlop EfficientGrips with around 800 miles on them, nice and fresh! I didn't really look after it since it was just a cheap (fun!) runaround for me, so the interior could do with a freshen up (dogs with muddy paws on seats, etc) if you plan to fix it and drive it. Anyway, I'm waffling. One black '01 vRS saloon with a wonky nearside front, ready to go ASAP, £250 to be rid. I'm in Abbots Langley, basically where the bottom of the M1 intersects with the M25. Come and take it away! Rys
  5. I recently had an accident in my black '51 plate vRS, a nearside front collision that's ended up smooshing the intercooler (but didn't puncture it!), bending the steering hub, and pushing the suspension top mount in a reasonable amount. The nearside front wing and front bumper are obviously also pretty wonky! The age and condition of the car, and the cost of repairs, meant I replaced it, so now I'm wondering what to do. The car's still drivable, if that helps anyone give me advice. Condition wise it's "alright". The interior I never really looked after too fastidiously (pair of small dogs in the family, never cared too much about covering the seats) and the exterior is good bar the smooshed bits. It went through its MOT only a few weeks before, including four new Dunlops. The impact hasn't damaged the front nearside wheel that I can tell, but it's obviously a bit scratched up. So I'm now wondering if I should insure it for a day and drive it to a specialist breakers, outright scrap it (least hassle!) or stick it up on the forums here and see if anyone wants to come and take it away. One of the guys at my local garage offered me £450 for it as-is, to break (they're VAG nuts, so had plenty of cars to donate parts to), but he can't take it on now. Is that a reasonable sum to ask for on the forums? I'm willing to knock that down a reasonable amount if someone can just come and take it away quickly. Cheers for any and all advice! Rys
  6. Do you still have the hazard triangle assembly thing, with the relay?
  7. Hi aj, The guy I bought it from did mention that the DV might need a service, so I'll add that to the list. It's not the OEM one and does have a service guide, so I'll give it a clean at the weekend if I can, after I see what vagcom says and check what a drive with the MAF sensor disconnected is like. Cheers!
  8. I'll check the fault codes in vagcom this weekend, and I'll give it for a drive with no MAF and see what it feels like. Thanks for the advice, I'll update the thread when I've got more info. Cheers!
  9. Hi guys, I've got a Mk1 '01 plate vRS that I bought from a member here a little while back and she's got about 130K miles on her now. Recently the car's developed what I think is a breathing problem where the symptoms are a lack of boost and an idle that never settles. Idle wise, it'll sit OK for about 10 seconds and then drop as if it's going to stall, then come back up again instantly. It never does stall, but threatens to like clockwork every 10s or so. It's had the main breather pipe replaced recently, which I thought would cure it, and it's had a new set of plugs and coil packs as well so I don't think it's ignition! I've got a laptop with vagcom but I'm a total novice at anything OBD related. What kind of things should I be looking for if it is breathing related, in vagcom? At a guess it's maybe a duff MAF sensor or an air leak somewhere else other than the breather pipe, so what would show on vagcom to confirm either of those theories? Thanks very much in advance, looking forward to getting her back to rude health again! Rys
