    Skoda Enyaq

Going back to the heat pump discussion- The e-Golf got the heat pump as standard in Canada due to the cold weather they have meaning that it was basically useless in the winter without it! Heat pumps do drop off in efficiency below freezing, as they literally freeze up. A heat pump is no different to an air conditioner- it just runs in reverse. It's the same technology as a fridge. Below zero the heat pump can effectively freeze up just like your freezer at home, which impairs its efficiency. I'm not sure I'd bother with a heat pump here in the UK on something with the 200+ mile range of the MEB based cars. But I'd definitely go for one in countries with more cold weather.
  2. I fitted Philips Xtreme Vision bulbs to my Fabia, although it had the basic lights without the LED DRLs. Made a big difference. Although now that I've gone to the LED lights on my Ibiza... there's no going back 🤣
  3. That's bull. It's on the spec list, it needs to be there. It's that simple. It's as if they'd left off the MFSW or something, it's a 'miss-build'.
  4. It's on the spec list. The dealership needs to sort it out!
  5. I have factory LEDs in my Ibiza, and they're amazing. I've been totally spoiled by them TBH, I don't think I could have a car without them now! I've been followed by plenty of cars with factory LEDs and they don't particularly bother me unless they're in an SUV and tailgating, it's the poorly designed aftermarket ones that cause problems.
  6. My car beeps like crazy if you open the driver's door with the ignition on. I'm sure my Fabia did too (it was an SE model, with a normal key).
  7. I'm averaging 51mpg long term, with lots of motorway commuting. Very happy with that! My car is a 2019 Ibiza 1.0 TSI 115PS 6-speed manual.
  8. Not on the pre-facelift cars I believe, sorry. The all open/close from the key only works if all the windows are one-touch, which came in with the facelift last year.
  9. I went from a 2016 Fabia 1.2 90 to a 2019 Ibiza 1.0 115, both manuals. The new engine isn't quite as nice to drive, but has been amazing on fuel. My long term average is about 51 mpg at the moment, which is far better than I ever got the Fabia.
  10. Adaptive Cruise is awesome. Although my car's a manual, so it won't go down to a stop. If you press the brake pedal hard enough to activate the stop/start, then the clutches disengage completely, even if the engine doesn't stop.
  11. Is it definitely a Bolero thing, or is it a Bolero thing in the UK? I could see it being an option elsewhere, just like SmartLink is on all Fabia Boleros in the UK but not in other markets.
  12. I sent @FabiaGonzales that part! But maybe that was after March.
  13. Didn't I send you the bit that makes it a not gaping hole?
  14. That's very weird, because USB 3.0 should default back to 2.0 if there's any compatability issues. It sounds to me more like there's an issue with the Pixel, the USB cable, or the computer, but I'm presuming that you've tried different cables and ports on the PC!
  15. So I'm getting really fed up with the stop/start in my Ibiza automatically restarting when the car in front drives off, as it almost always gets confused at traffic lights. I want it to work like it did in my Fabia- only restarting when I depress the clutch. Apparently this thing where the engine restarts automatically is part of the ACC. Is there a way of deactivating that specific part of the ACC/stop-start system? I don't have VCDS but would happily provide someone with some beer tokens!
  16. In over 3 years now of driving cars with Front Assist (2016 Fabia, now 2019 Ibiza), it's never braked unnecessarily. Beeped plenty of times when it didn't need to, but it's never braked unnecessarily.
  17. Very odd. I wonder if this is more emissions stuff? The MPI and 110PS engines are both available in the Polo and Ibiza still, but things are still listed as being MY19. On the Ibiza price list, the 80 and 95PS petrols are both listed as being only MY19, and that MY20 data is not yet confirmed, and as such details may change. So I wonder if the same applies to the Fabia, only they've chosen different engines to do first? Edit: Also, you can now order an 80PS 'FR Sport' Ibiza. LOL
  18. Nope, the pedestrian detection uses the radar system. No Polos or Ibizas have cameras- but they all have pedestrian detection, as seen in the EuroNCAP video. Cars with the camera do use it too, but it's supplementary to the radar. It increases the computer's authority for braking, but I can't remember the figures!
  19. There's statistical evidence that it works, and insurers are reducing rates for cars with it! If the insurers are reducing rates for cars having it, then it must reduce the likelyhood of crashes. They wouldn't reduce rates if it didn't!
  20. The Fabia system is the first-gen Front Assist, the Polo has the newer one. The Ibiza also has the newer system with pedestrian detection.
  21. Driver fatigue maybe, but definitely not the blind spot monitor. That requires a lot of additional hardware, in the form of radar sensors (not the same thing as parking sensors) in the rear bumper area and warning lights in the wing mirrors. TBH the driver fatigue monitor on my Ibiza is a bit pointless. I certainly wouldn't pay money for it. I enabled needle sweep on my old Fabia, it was easy with Carista.
  22. There's never been a true Polo estate. There was an estate (and saloon) at the time of the Mk.3 but they were closer to the Seat Cordoba of the time than the Polo. There have also been saloon versions of the Polo Mk.4 and Mk.5 but they were never sold in the UK.
  23. I would be very surprised if the next gen Fabia has an estate version. A little while ago in the supermini estate class there was the Fabia, Ibiza, Clio, and 207. Now, the Ibiza estate has been replaced by the Arona, the Clio estate by the Captur, and the 207 estate by the 2008. The Fabia will be next with the Kamiq replacing the Fabia estate. The Kamiq is basically a Skoda version of the Arona or VW T-Cross. In the meantime though, I can't see them ditching it until the next gen Fabia arrives, probably in around 2021/2022 sort of timeframe. But small SUVs are the way the market is going. Can't say I'd be interested in one personally, I'd rather either a small hatch or step up to a medium hatch (think Golf) if I needed the space. I think the new Scala could be a good option. It's closer in boot size to the Fabia estate than any other medium hatchback, at 467 / 1,410 litres vs 530 / 1,395 in the Fabia estate.
  24. Been very impressed with my 1.0 115PS 6-speed Ibiza. Drove down to my parents in Wiltshire on Sunday, back up yesterday. 59.1 mpg down, 55.3 back up (against a headwind). It's an excellent engine.
  25. The auto lights have always been standard on the SEL, don't think they've ever been standard on anything else. Interestingly, they're standard across the range on the Polo and Ibiza. I wonder if this is to try and prevent the morons who drive around in pitch black with just the DRLs on? There are 2 kinds of auto lights in the Fabia (and Polo/Ibiza). One has the old-style sensor cluster stuck to the windscreen, and includes auto wipers and auto-dimming rear view mirror. The other uses a small sensor on the top of the dash, under a small square piece of black plastic (presumably translucent enough for the sensor to work!). You can see an image of the two different systems on the configurator. On the SE model, the basic dash-top sensor is £80 and is called 'Light Assistant', while the full system with the auto wipers etc is called 'Light and Rain Assistant' and is £205. The SEL always has a sensor cluster stuck to the windscreen, but this isn't always a light and rain sensor. This is because the climate control also has a sensor up there. There are 3 types of windscreen sensors- one that just does condensation for the climate control (the standard unit on the SEL, or if you add climate to an SE), one that does light and rain (adding the 'Light and Rain Assistant' to an SE), and one that does light, rain, and condensation (adding the 'Light and Rain Assistant' to an SEL, or that and climate to an SE). If you have a sensor cluster of any kind on the windscreen, you'll get an auto-dimming mirror. Quite why the SEL doesn't just get the full light and rain sensor as standard I don't know, given that it can't cost that much more to fit that sensor in the screen instead of the climate only one, and it would save them from having to put in the light sensor on the dash! My mum had a 2013 Superb S, an early Mk.2 Facelift car, and that had the sensor cluster on the windscreen for the auto lights, and apparently you could program in auto wipers! I believe that the windscreen mounted sensor gives you the option to chose when your auto lights turn on in the infotainment system settings.
