  1. Now booked in for an aircon regas next week although if anybody is interested before then I'd be happy to knock the cost off the asking price!
  2. MOT passed, 1 advisory for some damage to the inside face of the drivers side front alloy, which they say has a ding in it but as it doesn’t wobble and holds air fine it does not need replacing.
  3. Selling my partners much loved Fiesta, she's owned it for 7 years and it has been faultlessly reliable in that time. 12 Months MOT and Full Service History, Always serviced by local indies or me and with anything that has needed doing sorted promptly. 4 good tyres, Continental rear, Avon front. The car has covered 102k miles. Work done in last few years: 2018 May - Service - oil, air, fuel, pollen filters and oil change May - MOT (Going in tomorrow, will list any advisories although it sailed through last year) 2017 Both rear wheel bearings replaced with decent brand Oil Service 2016 Full Service Expansion Tank Replaced Air Con topped up 2015 Coil Spring Replaced Service with cam belt and aux belts (86,477 miles) Front Brake pads and discs 2014 Full Service including spark plugs 2013 Front brake pads oil service Clutch Kit Brake fluid change Gearbox oil changed 2012 Full Service including spark plugs There is a folder full of receipts to go with the car as you can probably tell. The car drives perfectly and wants for nothing mechanically. Bad points: Plenty of small 'parking' dings, including some paint flaking to the front bumper. Bit of trim missing from B pillar externally which seems pretty common on these. Boot catch intermittently reports that boot is open, when it isn't which causes the interior light to come on. Air con doesn't seem to be up to much at the moment, probably just a regas. This is the ideal first car or little run around that you don't mind leaving parking in Tesco! Viewing is available any time in Taunton by arrangement. Please get in touch if you have any questions. £1200
  4. I'm so sorry for missing these, I thought I was supposed to get emails to notify me! Oops! The car has now sold, thank you for all the interest. I think it's a testament to the car that it has sold twice in a row on first viewing at full asking price. James (VRS-JTH) was a pleasure to deal with and I hope he keeps the car on the forum for a long time! Thanks Chris for responding in my absence.
  5. It's been an excellent car Chris, I'll be really sad to see it go! Are you still running the two Octavias?
  6. After two and a half years I am selling my VRS, previously owned by Chris (VRSerious) from here, and well loved throughout it's life. Below I have basically updated his sale advert from a few years ago as it contains most of the information necessary! The car is in very good condition, it has none of the usual issues that can occur with the Octavia's- no lacquer peel anywhere, airconditioning compressor is good (replaced 2016). It has full service history, from various main dealers or independents in Chris's ownership, and with receipts to back up the servicing in my ownership which I have either done myself or had my 'friendly local' mechanic do. I have serviced it every 10k or sooner in my ownership which equates to roughly every 6 months. A new clutch and flywheel was fitted at 80K new thermostat 2014, cam-follower 2017 and BSH oil catch can and PCV blank. Cambelt/water pump done 2016. Polybushes to the front and rear of the front wishbones. The car is running a Shark performance stage 1 remap with a STS (self tuning system) which means the map can removed/changed whenever you like. This has been on the car for 6 years and can say it was/is worth every penny, the car is very smooth and on the rolling road made 252bhp and 315 lbs/ft of torque Other modifications include- Whiteline RARB. Superskoda lower front grill, colour coded. Window tints from B pilar back. - Very small nick in rear glass tint forge short shifter. The leather suede on the front seats started to bobble so Chris replaced them both with FL ones, the seats are in excellent condition. The gearknob was starting to look worn so Chris also replace that and the gatier with new FL ones. The paintwork has real depth but has a few stone chips on the front and a couple of small parking dents on the nearside passenger front door. There is a small scrape to the front bumper insert (pictured) which would be easily rectified at a paintshop as the insert can be popped out. There is also a scratch to the rear bumper that I could not polish out. There are no swirl marks on the car and it really does polish up a treat. It has been treated very well and gets a full day of polishing and waxing twice a year in my ownership, with regular top up cleans in between. I know that Chris's care routine was even more rigorous than mine so I can say with confidence you won't be disappointed with the paint condition. The alloys have a few marks on them but are certainly not in bad condition and also there is a fifth zeith as a spare. Four good Uniroyal Rainsport 3 Tyres, Fronts new around Christmas time and rears probably 4-5mm. Full 4 wheel alignment last year (Twice, it still wasn't perfect the first time) Plenty of Pad and Disc life left, all good brands (Brembo pads and discs front, Chris replace rear so I'm sure they were decent.) Everything works on the car! I will try and include as much information as possible but if I've missed anything please ask I really take pride in my cars and this one has been amazing and looks the same, its only getting sold as I've got a company car now and the missus wants something easier to park for herself. Year-2006 Colour - matallic silver Milage- 150k Previous owners- 3 Service history- full - last a major service including plugs and all filters. Mot- until 11/2018 Factory options- Xenons with headlight washers 18" zenith alloys Maxidot Jumbo box Cruise control Dual climate control Options retro fitted Parking sensors Bolero with updated cambus gateway VCDS tweaks- anti hijack (locks all doors above 10mph) all doors unlock with one click on keyfob dual rear fog lights Car beeps on locking Mini improvements- brushed aluminium climate control rings vrs seat inserts LED sidelights to match xenons LED number plate bulbs Rear mud flaps Boot Liner (This is what looks 'damaged' in the photo of the boot, it is just the rubber in the middle peeling up and does not affect the 'waterproofness' of the liner. Parrot Bluetooth Kit This has been the best car I've ever owned. You would never know it is 12 years old or that it has done the mileage it has. It drives as new, the paint is better than some two or three year old cars and the interior is mint. I've used this for work it has never let me down or looked out of place. It's not been ragged, and in my ownership has mostly covered very sedate motorway miles, with just the odd fun bit when conditions allow. Whoever has this car next is going to be very pleased with it and I hope they keep it in the forum! I have just had it professionally valeted so it is beautifully clean and parked up now ready for it's new owner. The private plate will be coming off the car in the next week. Looking for £2250 which I think is a good price given the spec and condition.
  7. Have you got pictures of the wheels and has the cambelt been changed? Are the seats heated? Looks like it has cruise and xenons? Any other options? Cheers
  8. Interesting to hear about the problems with the 1.8 tsi, I had read lots of good things previously, but have now found some of the bad threads! Back to the drawing board I guess.
  9. I currently drive a 55 plate VRS TFSI manual hatch, remapped by shark to 250bhp, currently sitting on 145k miles and in excellent condition. Been looking at a 2010 FL 1.8tsi DSG L&K estate for sale with around 50k miles on it. I started looking at the 1.8 engine as it supposedly has better fuel economy than I currently get. I do around 20k miles a year and could do with looking for something a little more economical than the car I have now. I would also like the new car to be an automatic estate with heated seats, as I find heating my back on long journeys can help relieve a bit of lower back pain. I guess what I'm asking is what would you do? Anyone had experience of both and like to share pros/cons of owning either (engines or trim level)? I tried the seats out in a diesel L&K and found them comfortable but more sit on top than the VRS, which I may or may not miss. My VRS has xenons, bolero, cruise, bluetooth and maxidot so I'm not sure I'm gaining much spec wise. Unfortunately the car is to far away to go and try without the intention of purchasing. I looked at diesels but for my budget I'd be looking at >100k miles again.
  10. It was good, I mostly cycle the Quantocks which is awesome but all natural unless you venture into the 'Downhill' area so it was nice to ride some well thought out, flowing trails!
  11. I was also there, what a brilliant day. The bike of the day for me was the whyte T130 C Works, what an absolute machine and I instantly clicked with it. The fatcaad was the biggest laugh of the day, 5 inches of tyre should not jump so well yet I could barely keep it on the ground I was going so fast over the flowy pumpy bits of the blue. The guy riding behind me said he had no idea what his demo bike had ridden like because he was having so much fun watching me on it. Agree with everything you said about the ebikes, my comment to the trek dealer at the end was "I couldn't have one because I'd never ride any of my other bikes". The nukeproof mega 290 was intriguing as I liked it nearly as much T130 but I felt like I was really having to manhandle it round the berms, not sure if because it was a 29er or because it was the last run of a very long day. My first time riding the FoD and think I need to make another trip there soon.
  12. How did you find the Resonated vs Non Res at Motorway speeds??
  13. Mine does this, the headlight washer feed pipe has split away from the washer unit. Need to get round to getting another one.
  14. Golf-fiend, I'm agreeing with you! I think the blurb I read on them when I bought them said something along the lines of" designed by the British for British weather" or some such and I have to say they've been excellent!
  15. Again, this appears to be the confusion between snow tyres and winter tyres. Snow tyres are probably worse in wet conditions than your summer tyres as they are designed to hold on to the snow to increase grip which is the opposite of what we need for standing water! Winter tyres designed to deal with cold and wet weather is exactly what our climate requires!
  16. Mines in the shed. Stick a ground anchor in if you're worried with a motorcycle chain and padlock
  17. Another vote for winters. My Vreds are brilliant in the summer but spinning in 3rd at 5 degrees C was no fun. I got a set of Avon ice touring ST which are designed for cold and standing water more than snow and they've been great. I've now done about 20k miles on them (left them on far to late into the summer due to exams) and they're around 5mm left on the front. Wheels and tyres from http://www.mrwinterwheels.co.uk were about £360 and when I need to replace them the avons were about £50 last time I looked making swapping to winters much more cost effective than running the same wheels all year round. Not found a down side yet!
  18. Got to be worth starting there! Will report back once I get a chance to get it off.
  19. Hi all Following on from the previous thread of a similar name I have a very similar problem. Started with a flat spot and squeal at around 2500 rpm and a squeal on lift off. Diverter valve replaced and squeal and flatspot gone at 2500 but squeal still present on lift off (not as loud as 2500rpm squeal). I have a BSH Catch can fitted by the previous owner, this has now stopped collecting anything. As the previous thread was sorted by the PCV being replaced I'm assuming I'm facing a similar problem but as I didn't fit the catch can i'm not exactly sure on what part in it could have failed as I thought it was a fairly simple piece of kit. I have a spare PCV but would rather keep the catch can if possible. Alternatively is it possible I botched the diverter valve install (seems unlikely as the catch can isn't catching anything). I also believe my mpg may have dropped a little. Cheers for the help in advance!
  20. How did you get on tracking it down? I've got a similar issue will make another thread tomorrow.
  21. I'd say the crate would be fine while the labrador is a puppy but I think we are going to have to get a larger crate for our spaniel for at home as I don't think he'll be able to turn around in it by the time he's fully grown (he's 8 months so nearly grown). To clarify we have this one http://www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/double-door-crate In size medium and it is like it was made for the car (55 plate octavia vrs hatch). I honestly think you would struggle to go 1mm bigger in any direction. The estate could go higher and deeper bit no wider.
  22. I have a crate from pets at home. It was either the medium or the large, and is the more expensive of the two they offer so you get the two doors on it. It's like it was made for the boot of the hatch with only a couple of mm between it and the glass. It's fine for my sprocker spaniel but I don't know if I'd want to squeeze 2 in there! You're probably best off going for a dog guard.
  23. I'd imagine it has had both rear fogs activated but this would have been done years ago so can't see that this would suddenly have gone wrong. The boot is bone dry. I have taken off the trim between the two light clusters and prodded at all the wires trying to replicate the issue. Currently the light will go on for a bit and off for a bit at random intervals as though a wire is just barely touching another and doesn't seem to be directly related to any other light being on. I will try to find the multiplug next and see what condition that is in.
