Help! I am having problems with what appears to be severe overheating. There are no warning lights or warning alarms, no evidence of the problem when inside the vehicle, e.g. smells or smoke, but when standing outside the car with the bonnet raised, EXTREME heat radiating from engine compartment, all components far too hot to touch, including battery top and even bonnet stay! There is also a strange smell like hot metal or possibly hot fluid of some kind. Oil and coolant levels all o.k., brakes not binding, and tyre pressures all o.k. Symptons first appeared after return trip from east coast to wakefield area(60 miles?), then 2 weeks later after short trip from Castleford to Normanton (5/6miles?), then again after trip of 30 miles. In each instance when stood next to the vehicle, the engine sounds different, maybe "higher pitched".
The car was booked in to the local (Wakefield) Skoda dealer who say they can find no fault that could cause this prroblem, and they told me it is the Diesel particulate filter "burning off the soot" and this "generates temperatures of 600deg".. Iam not exagerating when i describe the heat, it must be a hairs breadth from bursting into flames.
Any advice or help would be much appreciated.
