  1. Just had a call and another Golf R went today, about 3 miles up the road and just after lunchtime. I wouldn't mind but I got the golf to blend in and be un-noticed, obviously it didn't work
  2. Yeah, your right. The car will be going in the next few weeks, simply not worth the hassle I should have stuck with the idea of a Yeti L&K
  3. I did think about that but my keys are still within my reach. I've thought about the consequences and it probably isn't worth the hassle but I'd like to at least see the ***** who thinks it OK to behave like that and damage people goods for their own gain. Have you still got the S3?
  4. CCTV shows them knocking on the door (when I'm on nights I usually ignore it anyway) If someone answers, they hand out a flyer and pretend to be a window cleaner/gardener etc offering services. You then shut the door and think nothing of it. I'm glad I was on the toilet to be honest and not still in bed.
  5. My cars are very rarely in the garage and are insured for parking on the driveway. Gave a cheaper price too for some reason. The garage is actually full of the neighbours garage content while his new one is being built. It's all in the hands of the insurers now. Good news is we have CCTV footage of them, one with a major limp which I hope is a sign of broken bones from the jump. He walked into the bedroom while I was in the en-suite, mid pee, I gave chase, shouting, ****ERS!!! they shut themselves in the front bedroom, I tried the handle but they were holding it up. At first I thought there was only the one but there were 2 voices, armed with only boxer shorts and a half full bladder I retreated and went back to grab my phone, called 999 and got dressed. I then heard a car screech away. Anybody want to take over a lease on an R estate for the next 20 months?
  6. Well, it finally happened. Sleeping off my night shift, about 1pm I was woken with loud banging. Didn't think much of it as the neighbours are having a garage built. Get's up to go to the toilet and looked out the window, no workmen in sight. Next thing, my bedroom door opened, I shouted and the ****ers ran into a spare bedroom, chased em but couldn't get in as one of them was holding the handle up. Once I realised there was more than one scumbag I scarpered back to my room and called the police. All done in a bit of a hurry and a total shock. Anyway, they jumped out of an upstairs window onto a hard surface so I have no idea how they didn't break a leg. House had been turned upside down, every drawer gone through looking for keys and worst of all, mud on the new carpets! The CSI team have not long left and the glazier has just turned up so once he's gone I can do a proper check to see what else is missing. Luckily/unluckily I always keep the keys within my reach and the spare isn't even on site. Might just leave the keys where they can take them and go next time. Entrance Exit
  7. Probably not what your after but I fitted a set of 17" VW Dijon wheels complete with Nokian WRD4's. The Nokian's have been fantastic, even in the mild weather. I'll be keeping the standard Cadiz for the summer and fitting the new Conti SC6 when they release them in my size. Ignore the mess in the background, waiting to do a tip run when I can be motivated
  8. I did my kitchen last year (first time) and got a joiner in to scribe/fit the end panels, internal corners and fit the handles. Just make sure you have a good STRAIGHT spirit level, something like this http://www.oxtools.co.uk/hand-tools/measuring-layout-tools/levels.html (obviously available cheaper) to stop you going round in circles I used these to fix the base units to the wall and it made life so much easier http://www.toolstation.com/shop/p17556?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&mkwid=shF5jhR3U_dc&pcrid=66162905543&pkw=&pmt=&gclid=CLm8qurN3MkCFSoEwwod4P0LnQ Ordered the units from http://www.diy-kitchens.com/ and the quality and service was fantastic as was the showroom. The units arrived, we slotted the feet on and positioned the units in place, doors were already fitted so it only took a few hours. Got a free pack of biscuits and some Yorkshire tea to help us too.
  9. Freedom contracts. It's my first lease car and they were fantastic. The document fee/admin charge or whatever they call it was a bit excessive at £360 but you can't have everything I guess.
  10. It's a personal lease, 3+23. 8K miles year. The excess mileage is 6ppm inc vat. I was wrong, I pay £263.14 per month.
  11. Wow, that is some finance package! Makes the £261/m i'm paying seem like a bargain (it's a lease so it's cheating really)
  12. Good choice, my D4's got delivered last week from TyreLeader. All mounted and ready to go. What's the bet it's the mildest winter ever this year.....
  13. Good lord! My 4.3 V8 has very similar figures (not a Superb obviously)
  14. Honestly, I wish I had a recorder in the car. My car was restricted to 45mph last night, through the Ford Mykey (Don't ask!). I've figured it out now though! I do remember passing 2 slower cars (A white Ibiza and Black 207) on the inside but they had been in the outside lane from the M53 roundabout going less than 40mph and like most people do, they stay in the right hand lane for 5 miles if they are going right into the Croft park. I certainly did not undertake or weave through the traffic. I also remember seeing a silver facelift Superb, looks very nice by the way. The xr2i pulled up next to me at the light's but neither of us were revving, it did sound like he was running a good set of carbs and some solid engine mounts as the car was rocking while idling at the lights. He took off first and I followed, not even half throttle and neither of us went over 45mph. Partly due to a police station round the corner and a speed camera at the next lights, now I'm a bit older I would never race on the roads and I like having a clean license. Plus the fact in the 3000 miles I have done in the car I had struggled to better a tank average of 32mpg, this tank I have achieved 44 odd due to a more relaxed driving style. I'll admit, the car does provoke you to drive it hard, honestly, it's the car not me Gov! but the past 350 miles have been relatively calm. I really think the car does attract the wrong attention, as if people expect it to be driven like a tool. It's one of the reasons it's up for sale. I much prefer cars that blend into the background. If I did race him from the lights (and lost) I would have stayed quiet but I didn't. I did expect him to race away though and I bet he thought the same. PM me if you think I'm wrong, or call in for a cuppa, you'll soon see I'm no racing driver wannabe
  15. This wasn't in Bromborough was it? White ST and a red xr?
  16. Not sure on profit margins, I get access to the Ford privilege scheme through work, new Fiesta ST-1 can be had for £13,495 which is a terrific price. I work at Jaguar Landrover and was shocked when I found out the kind of profits the factory's are making Keith, thanks for the heads up, this is my first brand new car and for me I'd like to get to know my local dealers, presuming they are willing to play ball
  17. I'm not slating the cars themselves, it's the dealers. I love most VAG cars but the sales guy would rather loose a sale than offer anything, surely no one pays list price for a car? The sales guy was an ex VW and Audi Salesman and we talked about a few cars including the Yeti and how much of a good car it was. He was also wearing an M-sport t shirt and trousers, no suit, not that it would matter to me.
  18. Right, just venting off a bit of steam. Now we all like a discount but I'd rather pay a little bit more (100's not 1000's) and buy from my local dealer. They all pretend they've never seen DTD or Carfile etc but it's clear they have I've been looking for a new car for a while but there's so many good models to choose from it's been a hard decision, especially deciding what I want/need from a new car Anyway, Friday I went to BMW to look at a M135i and ended up test driving the new M235i, went through some details then I mentioned discount........I was after a few options and £6k off to which he said let me get back to you tomorrow as I had another appointment to attend. Very good experience and the salesman new his cars/options/pricing and the drive was all about the car, no pressure to buy at all. Next was onto Seat, the new Leon Cupra. I told them my position and we went for the test drive and all the salesman talked about was how Seat was better than BMW, not just the cars but the service and dealers. My main concern was traction through the front wheels especially in the wet, his answer was that BMW being RWD is much more dangerous blah blah blah..... I was there to talk about the Cupra. He had no idea about the controls/sat nav, while I was driving he was pressing buttons on the steering wheel and flashing the headlights to show me how bright they were on the car in-front! Now for me the Cupra had to be a fair chunk less than the 1 series to even be considered, again I mentioned discount to which I got a straight No. I added leather and the winter pack and payment came to £62 more than the M135i! I was astounded. His reasoning was the Cupra has red brakes and the BMW doesn't That night I stewed over the BMW trying to justify it, not that it needs any justification and I've always had a soft spot for a Yeti, completely different cars to the previous 2 but I like to keep my options open. Yesterday I went to Skoda, walked in and had a good look around a Yeti L&K in the showroom, 10 mins I was there and I could see no less than 6 salesmen in the office, I had to walk in and ask if anyone could possibly sell me a car. Long story short I ended up test driving a PFL 140 DSG, it was raining and there was a roundabout, it handles brilliantly for what it is, slow but a lot of fun, I was surprised. Got back and looked at spec, L&K with DSG was only showing as being available with the 140 engine but the salesman said there was a 170 version available too so looked at that. I showed him the deals from carfile, not interested. No discount on the Yeti, not a penny. I said I'll be buying a car today and if you can get near the online figure I'd buy the Yeti now, Nope, no discount, either pay full price or no car. Just as I left my phone went, sales guy from BMW, come down, got the figures you were looking for, got within £250 of the cheapest online price and I had a fantastic experience. I just hope it comes with indicators!
  19. Signed! I was lucky enough to be on 4 squadron and work on Harriers for 7 years. When I left I got taken up in a T10 Harrier with an ex Red Arrow pilot, we even hovered into land. Best 2 hours of my life!
  20. A nice tourer? I'd go for a used 740d M Sport.
  21. You had a look here? http://www.employeevoucher.co.uk/ One of the guys I work with just got a white ST-2 for £17.5k!
