  1. yeah very right. i am thinking because they havent clocked my turbo back on the manifold facing the right direction this is maybe causing the issues because i have had to add an extension of pipework to the boost pipes which makes it differant than the standard setup? also the extension of pipework that was fitted was the same thickness and heavy duty so it fitted over the lugs of original boost pipe and had to be heated up to make this snug fit an heavy duty jubillee clips were added on to metal endings.the pipe had been heated up and forced on the metal end of boost pipes were the lugs were so the jubilee clips had something to tighten down to with the added fact the pipe was heated for ages and still had to be forced on. and like what mattybvrs said the car has been mapped and had egr blank plates fitted. and when turbo went and was replaced i connected the egr back up could this cause issues because its a diff setup from when it was remapped
  2. i might take the egr pipe back off like b4 turbo went, put the blank plates on and see what its like then if it smokes and hasnt as much power it could only be a boost leak then im sure
  3. do you think so? would i be able to hear a boost leak. i will have to take pics tommorow which better explains it
  4. yeah the turbo is the original one that was reconditioned at gap turbos and no i cannot here any leaks when im driving it. i do remember when the turbo was fitted back on when they connected all the pipes the main pipe that connects into the turbo wasnt in the correct place, basically the metal part of the turbo where the boost pipe goes in is supposed to be facing down at 6 oclock and basically it wasnt the metal part of the turbo where boost pipe goes in was at an angle and was in the 9 o clock position which explained why pipes where short. he had to add another extension of boost pipe which was tightened on both ends of the pipes where the lugs hold the clips had jubilee clips added on properly and isnt leaking for a fact im sure. so basically the boost pipe that comes out of the turbo has a rubber pipe at the end thats extended on and connecting to the metal pipe that runs underneath the belt. so basically one pipe is longer than it should be from factory, could this be the root cause now im wondering
  5. this is my second fabia vrs now and i think this car with the smoke issue and the mpg and power its ridiculous
  6. this car must be overfuelling due to so much black smoke and my mpg when i fill up, the mpg is disgraceful, i remember before i would get atleast 80miles to a £10 now im getting around 40miles to a £10 and thats not right
  7. yeah alot of power loss. im thinking thats maybe due to smoke because the more i put my foot down the more smoke will billow out and when i look in my mirrors to the rear its just billowing out. anc you can feel the turbo working,but before the turbo went on this and it was replaced it was quick as hell i couldnt fault it at all. i was very happy
  8. yeah the car is mapped also but i never ever remember it smoking as bad as it is now, if i put my foot down to get up a hill i can imagine the car behind wants to slow down and make a gap due to the smoke because i would

  11. MY CAR DID NOT SMOKE BEFORE ALL THIS, BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER I DIDNT HAVE THE EGR PIPE FITTED B4, IT WAS A BLANKING PLATE
  12. HELLO GUYS I AM WONDERING IF ANYBODY COULD HELP ME.. I HAVE A 2005 SKODA FABIA VRS AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO MY TURBO DECIDED TO FAIL. THE (TURBO PROPPELER SHAFT HAD SNAPPED) AND OIL WENT THROUGH ALL MY PIPEWORK AND EXHAUST PIPE. I GOT A BRAND NEW TURBO FOR MY FABIA FROM GAP TURBOS. I CLEANED ALL THE PIPES OUT AND GOT A NEW INTERCOOLER AS THERE WAS BITS OF METAL IN THERE, INCLUDING NEW OIL AND OIL FILTER.. SO I GOT THE TURBO FITTED BY A MECHANIC AND ***WHEN I WENT BACK TO THE GARAGE HE SAID I WAS MISSING THE PIPE THAT COMES OFF THE MANIFOLD INTO MY EGR. IT HAD A BLANKING PLATE BOLTED ON. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THIS IS PROBLY WHY MY TURBO WENT BECAUSE ITS CONSTANTLY OVER BOOSTING, AND IT WOULD BE BETTER TO GO BACK TO STANDARD AND BUY THE PIPE. SO IVE BROUGHT THE PIPE GOT IT FITTED AND THE CAR WAS DONE BRAND NEW TURBO FRESH OIL/FILTER PIPES, INTERCOOLER, AND THE CAR IS DECATTED. THE CAR SHOULD BE OK NOW. HE EXPLAINED THE CAR IS GOING TO SMOKE FOR A FEW DAYS AND AFTER A FEW DAYS GIVE IT SOME NOW AND AGAIN TO CLEAR IT OUT. MY CAR IS STILL SMOKING NOW A MONTH AND HALF LATER, WHEN I PUT MY FOOT DOWN IT SMOKES AND I MEAN ALOT IF I GET MY CAR JETWASHED NOW IT WILL BE COMPLETLY BLACK AT THE BACK 5 MINS LATER. (BLACK SUT) THE CAR IS REALLY BAD ON DIESEL PLEASE HELP WHAT COULD IT BE THERE IS NO LEAKS IN NONE OF THE PIPES IVE LOOKED AND LOOKED AGAIN, THE CAR IS DECATTED ALSO. SOMEONE SAID I MIGHT NEED TO BUY A NEW EGR OR ONE OF THEM BLACK BOX THINGS THAT ARE NEAR TO MY WATER FILLER CAP UNDER BONNET WHAT COULD CAUSE IT TO SMOKE SO MUCH AND BE VERY POOR ON DIESEL PLEASE HELPP
  13. also if anybody could help me, whats still baffling me is the bit of oil in the water filler (coolant), is it common when a fabia turbo goes that some of the oil contaminates the water (coolant) when i start the car i can see fresh clear water (coolant) going into the water (coolant) bottle from the top pipe which i have circled in red. and the bit of oil is sitting in the middle of bottle, ive checked my oil top up and dipstick and they dont have milky bits or water on them. could anybody help as this worries me spending all this money and the engine could be on its way out ?, i have took pics also water (coolant bottle) http://i.imgur.com/GU09ZK5.jpg circled in red is where fresh clear water feeds into bottle. oil filler cap http://i.imgur.com/tGt8A8i.jpg (looks normal) dipstick http://i.imgur.com/mJEEpgL.jpg (looks normal) also i noticed this pipe had a delete (blank) on it.http://i.imgur.com/kBdlNUr.jpg it connects to egr pipe? is that ok
  14. so i took the turbo pipes off, the bottom intercooler pipe that i took off was full of oil probs about 1 pint or 2 and little bits of metal. took the egr off had a gap to play with put my finger into the turbo to see if proppeller would move it was jammed no play, so i took a pic and looked at it and you can see the propeller scratching the side and its jammed with little pieces broke off, the car will be getting a replacement turbo supllied and fitted from a garage up the road come thursday, in the mean time i noticed alot of sut on the egr it was caked literally so was the manifold it connects to so i cleaned up the inside of egr and done my best on the part it connects to but was in an awkward position. ive took the intercooler off and soaked it with wd40 alot of oil was dripping out,and again with the pipes. because of the metal at the bottom of the intercooler does that mean my engine could be gone? and does the suction come up through the intercooler up to the egr? ive took PICS ALSO 1ST TURBO PIC LINK http://i.imgur.com/o1i2DCa.jpg 2ND PIC LINK http://i.imgur.com/yHL8sZn.jpg EGR PIC LINK http://i.imgur.com/NWHux6q.jpg MANIFOLD NXT 2 EGR http://i.imgur.com/83SF7Z5.jpg INTERCOOLER PIC http://i.imgur.com/DzIBvp4.jpg need any advice from anyone on here please i just hope the car aint knackered
  15. so my turbo has gone after all got pics but it wont let me upload as there too big
  16. i drove it up and down the road earlier slowly and can still hear the damaged turbo crunching (scratching) slightly,didnt do it for long as ive heard my diesel engine could runaway on me. will be taking turbo off 2moz now i just hope thats it and engine is ok but still abit annoyed about oil in the water filler
  17. yeah i topped it up with water a little bit i wouldnt of said it was losing water (coolant) the light didnt and hasnt come on the dash, i just topped it up a little bit as i hadnt done it before. and yeah the car is remapped. ive took the pipe of that sits in the corner by the intercooler and a little puddle of oil fell out. i showed my mate the car earlier and he said deffo my turbo but confused like me about the oil in the water. the car starts up still but ive still got intercooler pipe tucked to the side also i took the cap of the coolant and started it for a few seconds and i can see that the water that is circulating around the engine and coming back into water coolant tank is clear water but the oil is sitting in the middle of the bottle
  18. ok so if my car has experienced head lift does that mean the engine is knackered? i mean i wouldnt mind as much if it was just the turbo its just that the oil in the (coolant water filler) isnt reassuring me one bit.and yeah will take a pic if not sure tomorrow. i remember topping up my water about 2 weeks ago and all looked fine in there.
  19. hi sepulchrave what is head left? and how on earth has oil got into the water i dont understand does my coolant (water)connect to my turbo? hopefully aswell when i get time tommorow ill take off the intercooler and pipes see how much oil is blocked up in there, maybe why it was causing the suction on the pipes? and have ago at taking turbo off how do i know if my turbo has gone? just feel for play on the small turbine,
  20. thanks sepulchrave for the help i just hope to god the engine is ok knowing my luck. i spoke to someone i know not long ago and i explained the bit of oil in the coolant and he said its not my turbo its head gasket failure or a cracked cylinder head
  21. i have only had this fabia for just under 2 months now and the previous owner had told me the turbo had just been reconditioned, however i cannot prove this and a garage i had phoned up and explained the situation to, said that reconditioned turbos still fail. And to bring it in for a look over, i just want to get abit of advice on here because if the engine is knackered and ive paid money for a new turbo and labour then im in a deeper hole
  22. is it time i source an engine for the car or get a new turbo? as i dont know much about the mechanics of a car just the basics really anychance someone could give me abit of advice on what to do.
