  1. Afternoon all... its been a while since i was on here being honest so spent a few days lurking around and trying to find answers to my questions... without any luck :( Anyway... 2 things... 1. Is a squeaky type rattle from the sunglass holder in the vRS roof liner a common problem and is there a fix? It's slowly getting worse, possibly just noticing it more now im tuned into it. I've had the assembly out and cannot see anything lose or whatever, i also cannot make it rattle by shaking the life out of it either. 2. Front and rear badges... my father in law has just bought a vRS estate and the rear badge is worn in the middle, looks like solvent or something has got on it, bit odd really as the cars only done 38K miles. Anyway, looking at replacements whats the options? Will the new style badges fit and if so does anyone know part numbers and a decent priced supplier other than eBay? Thanks in advance and im sure these have been asked or covered hundreds of times already, im just rubbish at finding old threads with the search function ! Cheers, Nige
  2. Chemical Guys Fabric clean is probably the best product i have used to date... dilute it to your desired strength and then apply using a spray bottle or via a bucket and sponge... work it in and then wipe it up. As Baker21 said, a wet vac (to extract the water / soap) is the best but it you dont have one or access to one then lots of MF cloths or towels. Fabric clean diluted to 10:1 with water makes a really good interior cleaning spray too... smells nice as well HTH, Nige
  3. Both giving the best advice on this thread... the OP obviously doesnt know where to start and as said, claying (although an essential stage for me) isnt going to make this car look better without subsequent polishing. Granted, going from a wash stage to something like SRP wouldnt sit right with anyone in the know but is that a step too far in this case? Personally i would wash the car, cover it in tar and glue remover and wipe down then wash again before using SRP and then a wax. Time would probably be better spent on the details (trim and tyre dressings and making sure the glass and plastics are clean and dressed). HTH, Nige
  4. Took delivery of my vRS on Tuesday and can confirm it has a flat glass... The Leon i had before had the aspherical piece on the end (with a faint dotted line) but the mirrors on the Octy are quite a lot bigger so i wonder if they think thats sufficient? Are the mirrors the same size? if so it makes no sense other than Skoda saving money !
  5. Thanks James... you are right about the colour... in the pic the lighting is poor and from a phone so it looks like a relatively normal grey, i definitely wouldnt have picked that colour had that been the case In the dealers when i first saw it (under the halogens) it looks like a medium grey with a heavy flake in the metallic, i've only seen one other in this colour on the road since and it looked very blue. The Leon this replaced was Nayara blue which was a light silvery blue which would change shade depending on conditions... i have a soft spot for those sorts of colours Once the weather sorts itself out and i get chance i'll get it properly cleaned, give the paint a good check over and get some proper protection on it. I'll also get some better pics to show the colour off better. Cheers, Nige
  6. They've taken Skoda off the Lex car list at work completely now... i think that happened in October / November - we have to order minimum 16 weeks in advance though.
  7. Cheers buddy  Edit: Reading that post it sounds like i do have maxidot as i get a picture of the car with the relevant doors open... guess i need to refer to the manual to work out how to work the screen from the stalks... damn Skoda for not making the multi function wheel an option only on the DSG !
  8. Guys... how can you tell if you have a maxidot display or not? i did select it as an option but to be honest, i havent played with it enough to see these other options... at the moment all i have cycled through are the fuel range indicators etc Thanks, Nige
  9. Tried the track on the root of the SD card and it works a treat... with mix selected it will play 2 tracks off each other album in a random style. If you then interupt the mix by searching and selecting a track yourself it will revert back to only playing tracks from that album. One other thing... it may just be ice blocking the nozzle but in case it isnt, how easy is it to adjust the washer jets for the windscreen ? the drivers side sprays fine but the passenger side has one hitting the windscreen and the other shooting over the car !... it saves me using the rear wash wipe function but its a bit irritating Thanks, Nige
  10. Thanks for the comments and replies guys... The dealer called to ask if i had looked in the spare wheel well... i'd turned the car upside down and there is no boot net... it doesnt come as standard in the hatch (which is what i have) and i added it as a cost option when ordering the car. They are sorting a new one via the parts desk and posting it out to me this week - all sorted Thanks for the tip on the SD card and having a track on the root... i did work out this morning while sitting in traffic all the way to work that the mix option does only mix that album and not the whole lot so i'll give this a try (as per above it sounds like it works a treat)... at the moment i have a ton of albums on the card so having all the tracks on just the root will do my head in and i'd have just left it as is if it didnt work another way. The colour is steel grey metallic, its a medium grey with a heavy blue flake so it looks like different shades depending on the light conditions, i think it was a new colour to the range towards the 2nd half of last year. Other options are xenons, maxidot, auto lights / wipers and dimming mirror and the infamous boot net ...lol It does feel good to be back in a Skoda though, the Leon this replaces was a good car but the quality of the overall package is miles ahead. Cheers, Nige
  11. Not the best picture granted, i'll get some better ones when the weather picks up and i can get it cleaned and sealed with a wax or something... got some bits n bobs for protecting the interior too. Dealer forgot to put the boot net in but they are sorting that out for me... all in all very happy with it and looking forward to living with it for the next 4 years. This may sound like a daft question and i will consult the manual (cant believe i said that !) but how do you get the Bolero to play in a random mode from an SD card? I've tried the mix button but it doesnt seem to do anything and just goes to the next track of the same album. Cheers, Nige
  12. Cheers guys.... I've had an Octy vRS before (mk1) and its still around, a member on here has it now. Been away from the brand for a few years but looking forward to returning. Currently in a Leon FR TDi but the Octy is definitely a step up in terms of quality.
  13. Got a call from Lex the other day... car has arrived at the dealers and is booked for delivery on the 22nd Jan Slightly excited.... who am i kidding... cant wait !!! Got a vRS TDi with Maxidot, Xenons, auto lights / wipers etc in steel grey, oh and a boot net :p Its coming from a dealers in London (i live in Walsall, West Mids) so hopefully they bring it on a low loader
  14. Liking these... havent seen anything from Neuspeed where wheels are concerned... if the quality of the stuff i have seen is anything to go by, these should be awesome !
  15. Ordered my vRS last month... its a lease through the company scheme but i've been able to add extras that one of the lads couldnt hope to have this time last year when he got his. I do agree with the comment on the Superb... i'd never considered them until i looked round one in the dealers and i do think its maybe the car for us after the Octy lease expires in a few years. I suppose if the vRS is where your heart is you need to decide whether your bothered about a new version coming out next year or whether you can look past that and be happy in a mk2 FL with extras you probably wont stretch to in the new one... i know for me its the mk2 FL with extras. I dont even know what the next Octy and vRS is going to look like, it could be an abomination !
  16. Yes mate, current car is a Leon FR but will be getting a vRS TDi in January when the lease on this one runs out. So, the car will be a MY13 ? - vRS with maxidot, auto wipers, lights and xenons Cheers, Nige
  17. I've read a few threads in here now about options being made available or coded that are there but lurking in the system lying dormant... Is there a list of "options" anywhere that can be enabled either via Maxidot or coded in with VAGCOM / VCDS ? Having a list and whether its something you can enable yourself or via the coding would be pretty cool i reckon. Cheers, Nige
  18. You shouldnt need to enter the code for it... the key pad was just for enabling things like total lock down for when you have to leave the car overnight somewhere and other options. You should be able to find the manual for it online somewhere surely. Yeah, real shame about the pics cause i had taken pics at every stage of the car from being new from the dealers to when it left my ownership. Glad its still going strong though
  19. I find it rediculous that this feature should be built in with cars that have the right options but not enabled from the factory ! This is something i will be switching on when i get my vRS but the Leon FR i have at the moment (with auto lights, wipers etc) doesnt even have the option in the MFD (which is the equivelant of the maxidot) and my brothers mk5 golf (again with auto wipers etc) doesnt have the option on the computer. Seat and VW it would seem would like you to hack it yourself with the help of a friendly VAGCOM user or pay a dealer to do it for you :(
  20. Looks ok from the front... and like its been rear ended from the side / rear view. I did think twice about ordering the current vRS because the options and prices through the scheme at work were better than last year when i looked so thought there must be a new shape in the offing. Based on the pics of the concept i'm not worried.
  21. Nice progress... when i had my mk1 vRS the TIP was the biggest PITA to fit but for the money gave the best results... spool was quicker and as you said, under pressure there is no loss of shape.
  22. Thanks for the replies guys... i'll do what was mentioned and try it out before signing for the car... it was possibly just one of those things though. It was definitely the interior drivers door handle though, if you pressed against it with a finger it stopped vibrating. The Leon i have at the moment has a passenger rear handle vibration at higher volumes which i've just lived with. The drivers side one is less easy to ignore though Had to laugh at the mention of the dealer turning all the bass settings down and claiming they'd fixed it though...lol Thanks, Nige
  23. I just noticed all the stainless / billet covers for the bottles, oil etc have been removed and put back to standard... shame as those werent cheap and really finished the bay off nicely. The windows dont look tinted in some of the pics either, definitely not the back so this must have been removed or had new glass over the years. See its still running the Sigma alarm i had fitted though, thats a CAT1 system thats integrated into the factory system so it runs off the original key fob - i didnt want a 2nd fob to clutter things up Never let me down though in the 3 and a bit years i had it. Good to see its with another owner whos a member and being looked after
