  1. I've not seen it searching here, so Having just changed the alternator on my car, here is a map of the belt route for a 1.3 felicia mpi. I hope it comes in useful to someone in the same mess. Note the Jar of eternal rage which was the most noticable thing about this job.
  2. I'm fairly old school, spent more time on vintage machinery than anything else. I just like things as simple and straight forward, that I can see "ah, that yoke is worn/cracked, etc. I'll change/adjust it" I will admit, electronics are definitely my weakest point, but I can do absolutely anything mechanical or cosmetic. I'm not sure about the loophole with the NCT, but I think its fairly easy on emissions over here. Civics are hugely popular as a mod car here and lads do all the far out crazy engine work with decats, throttle bodies, etc. and they pass the test most the time. Lets not forget how common they are for burning oil.
  3. @Teflon Tom, That's usable info there now, I don't like electro nonsense with ECU's and stuff. I'll be doing just that if it screws up. Cheers!
  4. Feck it, I'm gonna swap it out for the 1.4 16v. But until then I'll see how I get on with a Bike throttle body. I've got them sourced from my old job at €40, but I'll just check with the landlord as he breaks sportbikes too. That and a port polish should hold it til the right VW unit comes along.
  5. I had mine pretty low at one point, but the roads I drive on a regular basis are terrible. Took out the kit and now only have it dropped by 40mm on the front. I like this one though and the rims are nice. hope you've a smoother road network than we do!
  6. I'm just gonna say that I like the felicia because, they're so handy to work on. I play a lot of gigs and to be fair, my little one keeps chuggin along. As well as that, nobody really does rat look in my neck of the woods, and I've taken what most would consider a dull car (not us, we're smart) and made it a serious little headturner (Good for advertising gigs). I also like its running costs, especially where here in Ireland, its all so damn expensive! I also had a beater of an estate I had for 6 months, bought for €160 with 180k miles on it and sold on and it was still local for nearly 2 years. They're a Super tool in my book. Heres mine
  7. I dunno what they're like on the 1.6, but I know they're troublesome on the 1.3. I hope it is the thermostat, that'd be handy.
  8. Noticed that most of my engine loom had dried out and cracked near the multi connectors. They seem to be sheilded in crappy plastic. I'll just check these points you mentioned, thanks for posting!
  9. Sounds about right, but if you're not too confident in your own ability, it may be best left to professionals. It would also need the head skimmed as its likely to have warped while she boiled over. And while you're at that end of the engine, if it was me, I'd change the valve stem seals, maybe even go so far as to grind the valves.
  10. Well, I'll see what I can do with the spare lump. Them polo engines, do they fit to the gearbox thats in the felly?
  11. I know, i've been offered engines, but I wanna do this for the sneer.
  12. Was thinkin bike carbs, out of a gsxr or somethin. May look into it, cam and remap, but the car barely cost me that inclusive of spare car and other parts! Is there a way you can remap yourself? Kinda piggy back chips into it or anything?
  13. Well, in a fortnights time when I'm doin the clutch again, I'll know what to do and not rush like a headless chicken. Kudos on the rapid, never seen one my neck of the woods.
  14. Yeah, tax is awful over here in Ireland. And roads are awful. We really envy Britain for the tax setup.
  15. I apologise to anyone who took time to read this, I have it sussed. In a totally stupid move, I neglected to remove the flywheel sensor during the clutch change and subsequently beat it into a hoop, so it was erratically picking up the signal as it was meant to whenever the flywheel was in a certain position. I stuck in a different sensor and that fixed it outright it seems. I hope maybe this is of some use to someone that was clumsy as myself.
  16. I'll have to explain what happened. Saturday gone by, driving the car into town, the clutch went in my 2000 1.3 felicia 1.3mpi. Pulled out a second hand one I had out of a crashed skoda I have (wouldn't have done this normally, but I was trying to be on the road for something on Sunday, also, its condition was decent). Got that in no problems, but now it will not start. I've cleaned out Throttle Body, Checked for spark (Holding coil pack with plugs to see if they sparked-they did). I also Checked all the engine loom (it was broke on the loom side on the brown wire where the lambda plugs in- Connector was soldered on from spare loom), Checked all the earth leads and Now for the first time ever the immobilizer light blinks, at different sequences, never the same thing twice. The car has got a cobra alarm system fitted but I never got anything with it (fobs, instructions). I just had a single key with a chip. Up until now, all I had to do was change the shocks and 2 wheel bearings. The car had never given me trouble after a nearly a year of use, good body, sweet engine with just over 100k miles on it, always serviced. One thing I did notice was last week, the car would drastically drop in power for 2 seconds doing motorway speed. This happened twice so far. Please skoda Gurus, Grant unto me your wisdom. In return; My eternal gratitude.
  17. Well folks, I have a decent s/h engine out of a felicia that was crashed. I bought the car for spares for the daily and decided to turn the rest into a trailer. What I have left over is an engine and box. What I plan to do is tune up and rebuild the engine with out going mental, Just a nice little power increase and to have it done, ready and do it at a leisurely pace. The current engine is fine Intended jobs to be done are: New Timing Chain, Skim head, New head gasket, New piston rings, new shell and crank bearings, Polish ports, grind valves, Make a straight thru exhaust, Performance air filter. What I want to know, is there any handy ways to increase power on the cheap? Any things I can do while the engine is assunder? Even Info on adding a small turbo? Any suggestions are welcome, although, I'd rather not be told to but in a bigger engine or anything as this is just something I wanna do for the sake of it.

    Hi

Well, I've owned 3 fellys, one estate, one hatch ratted (yet still rust proof) and turning one into a matching trailer.
