  1. So my new (built June 2013) Roomster SE has this problem - the sunroof blinds will open when driving along. Obviously I'll get this fixed under the warranty, but I'm surprised this problem still exists & that they haven't added the magnetic catch or something similar as standard (or maybe they have & it got missed on my car). I took a picture of the catch that's in the blind runners and is the only thing that holds the blinds closed - it seems pretty insubstantial, and going over any bumps causes the blind to be knocked out of it. The blind moves quite freely along the runners, and seems to be slightly sping loaded to open - which obviously doesn't help things. I wonder if anyone can confirm that this is what holds the blind closed on theirs?
  2. I ordered it early May, it was built in the first week of June and was at the dealers by last weekend. I'd recommend seeing if you can get the child mirror - did the first trip in the car with the kids today, and it's hard to see what's going on back there with the normal rear-view mirror
  3. FYI the changes in June made the protective side mouldings an option on the SE trim - they were standard before. Was slightly disappointed by their absence on the new Roomster that we collected today- hadn't been made aware that they weren't standard any more, so was expecting them to be there. Have asked the dealer what can be done to sort it out. The car's otherwise fine - though haven't actually had much time to play with it yet. I'll try to post some picture of it at some point - Regency Green doesn't seem to be a very common colour, but actually suits the roomster pretty well. BTW, does anyone know anything about the child-controlling mirror mentioned above? I'd find it useful (two kids to control with it), but couldn't find any info about it... would be interested to know if it's easy to add on.
  4. I was quite surprised about how few options had been added to the "in stock" models that were available - mostly either a spare wheel or passenger airbag disable switch (why isn't that standard or at least software controlled?). I did wonder whether they deliberately configure the trim levels to make you want to add options, but then I'm quite a cynical person. Regarding the safety stuff - I'm surprised more of these features haven't already been made mandatory by legislation. At the moment it feels like it's never going to be hot & sunny in the UK again, so no need to worry about the car turning into an oven...
  5. Thanks to you both for the confirmation - I had completely forgot to say it's an SE with the default wheels, so it sounds like they'll be 195/55 R15. Regarding the trim levels, was a bit annoyed that the SE Plus had been discontinued, leaving nothing above the SE. Was also a bit annoyed that you can't get it without the sunroof unless you go for a Scout (and pay the premium for that) as am not too fussed about having the glass roof. Opinions on this forum seem to be that people generally love the sunroof though, so I'm hoping I'll decide I couldn't be without it once I've actually got the car! Was also a bit perplexed as to why the cost difference of adding the DSG gearbox to the Scout is the same as adding it to the SE when the Scout already has the ESP stuff - i.e. you pay £700 to add the DSG and ESP to an SE, or you pay £700 to add just DSG to the Scout. I guess this stuff is often down to marketing decisions, rather than some logical pricing structure. Anyway, options I went for are: Climate Control Cruise Control Maxidot 3rd Rear Headrest Black roof bars Spare wheel - some of these are unnecessary luxuries, but since I'd started off by seriously considering a Fabia Elegance I struggled to go back on some of the extras that comes with.
  6. Have ordered a new Roomster - 1.2 TSI 105ps DSG in Regency Green with some extras including a spare wheel - and have a question I'm hoping someone can answer for me: Does a full size spare wheel fit in the space under the carpet in the boot? Dealer seems to think it does, but I thought I read somewhere that it takes up space in the boot by raising the floor or something. BTW, I ordered at beginning of May and have been given a build date in early June - so it's much quicker than the 16+ weeks I was told when ordering.
