  1. After many years, my Felicia had to be retired to the scrap yard in the sky. It was followed by an Octavia which did good service around Europe. But then another job change meant I didn't need a car... Now things have changed, I am searching for a performance car that can be used as a daily. The Superb 3.6l V6 has caught my eye, so off the the bowels of the forum to research! Cheers Paul
  2. I ran a busy inspection department where we were encouraged to buy our own kit. When I left I went into the calibration of equipment hence so much available. Anyone interested? Paul
  3. Hi everyone I have taken some pictures and made a little webpage to avoid filling your email inbox up! Please have a look at http://maxjephson.co.uk/equipment/. Cheers Paul
  4. Hi there everyone Over Christmas I had a bit of a sort out in my garage (aka shed/cave/hidey hole..) The following items are available from my days in the inspection and calibration departments at various engineering companies. Some of it is specialist kit, please ask if you want any more information. All the pieces were cleaned, calibrated, lightly oiled and where possible coated in hot dip strippable coating (crocell). They have been stored for a few years, so I will check them over before any deal is agreed. I will give it a couple of weeks on here then put them up on other forums. Either £50 each or please make an offer for any items you may want, either on here or by PM. Postage is possible world wide at cost. Regards Paul All this kit is my own and I have scared myself researching the prices..... but it has to go Here you go:- £15 Baty Plunger DTI 0.0005” OK With magnetic base, no box £5 Baty Plunger DTI 0.0005” OK No box £5 Mercer Plunger DTI 0.0005” OK No box £5 Baty Depth gauge 0.0005” OK Flat base, no box £15 Compac Lever DTI 0.0001” x 0.008” Good £20 Compac Lever DTI 0.0001” x 0.008” Good With extra stylii £25 Mitutoyo Anvil micrometer 0-1” Good £10 Mitutoyo Micrometer 0-1” Good Back of anvil ground away for access £25 Tesa Micrometer 0-1” Good £30 Mitutoyo Micrometer 1-2” Good Back of anvil ground away for access £30 Tesa Micrometer 1-2” Good £30 Mitutoyo Micrometer 2-3” OK £30 Tesa Micrometer 2-3” Good £20 Moore and Wright Micrometer 3-4” OK Slight rust in places £25 Moore and Wright Micrometer 4-5” Good £25 Moore and Wright Micrometer 5-6” OK Slight rust in places £5 Tesa Micrometer 6-7” Poor No box £35 Moore and Wright Micrometer 6-12” OK £20 Mitutoyo Micrometer 9-10” Good No box £5 Mitutoyo Micrometer 0-25mm OK Box in poor condition £30 Tesa Micrometer 25-50mm Good £30 Moore and Wright Micrometer 50-75mm OK £30 Etalon Depth vernier 12” Good £75 Benson Gear tooth vernier 0.001” Good £50 Mitutoyo Long jaw vernier caliper0-12”/300mm Good £30 Mitutoyo Dial caliper 0-300mm Good £35 Mitutoyo Depth micrometer 0-150mm Good £30 Moore and Wright Depth micrometer 0-6” Good £-- Mitutoyo Diatest 0.95-1.55mm Perfect Specialist kit! 5. Hi everyone Due to a change in job, I no longer need a car. So, my Mk1 Octavia Estate has to go... MoT until May, good tyres, 170,000 miles, clean and tidy in a copper metallic. The indicator stalk and relay needs to be replaced, but I will get that done before it goes, I have the parts, just need them fitting. The drivers door microswitch is kaput, so the central locking and door lights don't work. It returns 56 mpg on a run, never used it in town so can't give a figure on that. Spare wheel, jack and toolkit are all there. No tax, currently under SORN. I will accept ANY sensible offer as it has to go. Please PM me or call 07870276148 and leave a message or send a text. I will get back to you just as soon as I can. Thanks Paul
  6. Mine get done when They really need it I have the time Going somewhere nice or a long journey No set intervals, maybe a full on valet inside every couple of years.
  7. Thank you, not a vital bit of kit, but really needs to be working. Out with the araldite tomorrow then....... Cheers Paul
  8. Please can someone help identify what this item is at the rear of the engine bay on my 2003 Octavia 1.9DTi? It seems to be a butterfly type thing on the inlet or intercooler. There is a small pipe not connected, just resting there! It's arrowed in the second picture, is it important? Thank you Paul
  9. I went in 1996, 1998 and 1999. What an event, will be asking Mrs F if I can go next year, time for some speeeeed. (but no rain please!) Drive safe Paul
  10. Evening everyone Thank you for a great forum. I've been lurking for a little while so I thought it's time to introduce myself. Cars, I had a '98 1.9D Felicia, great reliability, used as a driving school car and then a 520 mile weekly round trip for three years. Sold last week for £500, sad to see it go. Now own a late 2003 Octavia 1.9 TDi estate, 171,000 miles! I've only done 1000 miles so far but think it's a great motor. I'm a bit of a petrol and diesel head, also owning a 1979 Porsche 911SC, Mercedes 1114 truck, Mrs F has an Alfa 156 1.8T. For absolute scary speed, I have a 1988 Kawasaki ZXR750H1, 100bhp and chuff all weight and for gentle rides I have a 1963 Honda CB72 250cc classic bike. For work, a David Brown 885 tractor and a 350cc Yamaha Quad do all the work. So, a total petrol/diesel head, with the need for speed........ Drive safe Paul
  11. +1 for FitnessPal. Makes you think which is important. Portion control works, I have a set of scales by the fridge and weigh everything. Cereals, rice, pasta, even yoghurt! Lost 6kg since Christmas, cutting out the beer helped as well. Cheers Paul
