  1. Failed Yeti Turbo Charger

    Hi All

Last week the EPC light came on on Dashboard.  Car wouldn’t go above 20mph.  Car was taken to Skoda Bolton who told me Turbo Charger Activator had failed & that there was a repair kit they could fit for £430.

The service I received from Skoda Bolton was excellent.  It only took 2 days to fix.  Although, I was not happy with the fact that  2013 car which has only done 60,000 miles, has already had a major electronic failure on the automatic gearbox which cost £1700 to repair.

    Thanks

    Dave

  2. Voice Recognition

Hi.  Can anyone tell me how I can reverse the Voice Recognition order?  I used to say “Call Dave Home”, now I have to say “Call Home Dave”.  It  has suddenly reversed all phone contacts.

    Thanks

    Dave

  3. Hi All Good news, bonnet open after about 15 minutes of trying. Not quite sure what solved the problem. After opening the internal bonnet release half a dozen times & closing the bonnet, it appeared that there was more movement in the external bonnet release lever. I continued to manipulate the lever under the bonnet, each time gaining slightly more movement which enabled me to open the bonnet. The problem appeared to be there is only just enough travel of the bonnet catch to free the retaining hook. I greased up the mechanism hopefully preventing the same problem in the future. I hope this makes sense. Thanks to all concerned.
  4. Hi Guys Thanks for your suggestions, just to clarify I have tried locking and releasing the catch that is inside the car passenger side a few times and the bonnet lifts up about 1/2 inch and locks down fine when pushing the bonnet down. When trying to release the catch as shown above the arrow in the diagram 2, there is no movement in the lever.
  5. Bonnet Catch Cannot release external bonnet catch on 2013 Yeti. Has anyone got any solutions? Thanks Dave
  6. Hi Sorry I did mean to say that my car had never had the DSG 34H5 service campaign either offered or carried out. I did put my cars VIN number into the Skoda recall action sheet and it said there had never been any need to recall my car. David
  7. Hi Guys Thanks for your repliesI have decided to go ahead and have a new Mechatronics unit fitted it was obvious neither Skoda or the Bolton dealer was going to make any contribution towards the cost and I needed to sort out a car. It is unfortunate that I have gone from thinking and telling others that the Yeti was the best car I have ever had. I feel very aggrieved that a car that had only done 56,000 miles would need such a major repair and can no longer be considered as the best car I have ever had. I think the DSG gear box in a petrol car is a dry clutch and as such has no maintenance requirements therefore I would say the failure can only be down to poor design materials or assembly. Just a word of caution to any body els who has the same gearbox, when mine failed I was going very slowly turning off a quiet road into a hospital entrance when the car lost total drive I do not know what would have happened if it failed in the fast lane of a motorway. Thanks Again David
  8. Does anyone have any suggestions I have a 2013 petrol automatic DSG Yeti with just under 60,000 miles on the clock As I was turning off a quiet road into the entrance of Leigh hospital I suddenly lost all drive, the car would not go forward or backwards. The engine would run . I called out the Skoda / AA breakdown Assistance. The guy determined it was a clutch / gearbox problem and it would need to go in to a Skoda dealer. They sent out a low loader and took the car to Skoda Bolton. I have just been informed by Skoda Bolton that the car needs a new Mechatronic Unit and it would cost 1,923 pounds Sterling (Sorry my keyboard has decided it does not want to print the Pound sign) I have spoken to customer service at Skoda they said there was nothing they could do but he would spreak to Skoda Bolton to see if there was anything they could do to assist. He came back and said that they said they were not willing to make any contribution. I just don’t think it is acceptable that a gearbox should fail on a car with under 60,000 miles on the clock. I have sung the praises of the Yeti many times and have said it was the best car I have ever had. Am I being unreasonable and unrealistic in thinking that Skoda should have some obligation to assist with this repair. I appreciate any input you may have Thanks David
  9. Further to my post No 6 I thought it may be helpful to give an update The sat nav continued to operate the same Ie had to go through a number of steps to get the post code screen to come up this was even after I had unintentionally turned everything back to Factory settings . I could also not get my phone to work hans free in the car possible due to reverting back to factory settings. I arranged to take my car back to the dealers Alex Laurie on the 15th August for them to have a look at it . I tried the sat nav before leaving home and it was no different. When I got to the dealers Tony the technician came out to my car and sat in the passenger seat I sat in the drivers seat switched on the sat nav pressed the flag icon expecting the screen to show country it showed Post Code I can not think how that happened , Tony then proceeded to reset the phone data so it would again pair with my phone. Job done everything back to how it should be. Tony then said he would check what release of software I had , on checking he found that they had been a software update, I explained that my 3 year warrantee had expired on the 23-6-16 and that I had had a service only a few days earlier than that and would it not have been standard practice to install that software, he checked with the service manager and he said they would only install the software update if the customer had said there was a fault with their system , but they would install it in mine for half price £45, I was not too happy but went ahead and had it installed. Another of the service guys phoned me a few days later to see how it was going and told me that next time I get my car serviced to ring him he will deduct the £45 from the bill I have noticed now that when making calls using voice recognition it is far more accurate and responsive . If anybody else is having problems with their sat nav system or is coming up to the end of the warrantee period I would advise that they ask to have the update installed
  10. Hi I did consider that but did not fancy loosing all the routes I have saved
  11. Hi Thanks for that I have retried couple of hours later and it is still the same, but I have found I can get back to the Post code screen by following the following steps 1) Press the NAV button: Screen shows options : Press the bottom one showing a flag the screen now shows 1circle button With COUNTRY shown to the right and two rectangular buttons underneath middle one shows Destination and the one to the right shows ADDRESS 2) Press the round button under Destination:Screen now shows UNITED KINGDOM and two rectangular buttons underneath middle one shows COUNTRY and the one to the right shows LIST/OK 3) Press LIST/OK:The screen now shows list of countries with United Kingdom at top and three rectangular buttons underneath the first one shows POSTCODE Press POSTCODE !!!! I hope this makes sense There must be a way to get it back to how it was Regards David
  12. Hi I have the Amundsen+ system in my 2013 Yeti, the satnav has been fine till just now when I tried to put in a new postcode and the screen only gave me the option of picking country, I think in the past there was as stated above a city buttons as well that when pressed gave you the Post Code option.could it be that there is a limit on how many addresses you can have and that I have reached that limit? I appreciate any help you can give Regards David
  13. Hi Just to close this post I took car in to Alex Laurie Liverpool today they said that the slight oil mist on the front shock Absorbers may have been there from when the car was built and that Skoda would not replace them under warrantee but he would log the job. I can only hope that if they were to fail in short term future I would have a case for them to be replaced FOC??? They did however vacuum wash and polish my car, which I thought was a nice touch
  14. Hi Thanks for your replies , current milage is 30,688 and I have only done just under 200 miles since the service.I will see what they say on Friday when I take it in for them to look at it Thanks David
  15. Hi I had my Yeti MOT today( Not by Skoda) for first time and they have noted that both front shock absorbers are leaking slightly . My car comes out of warrantee middle of next week. (3 years old) I had the car serviced at the dealers I bought it from 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if the replacements should be done under warrantee. I have spoken to service and have arranged to take it in on Friday for them to have a look at it but he did say that he has been told by Skoda that slight leaks were not covered but he would check it out. I welcome any comments you may have Thanks David
  16. I called at the Skoda dealers yesterday to check out my options If I was to trade in my car for a new one I would get about £11k for mine and a new one to same spec would cost £23k Too big a difference for me to consider They said there was no jobs that they knew of that needed doing before the end of the three year warrantee As I was not able to drive the car after the 17th May due to the op I was having it was decided I should have the MOT and the Service carried out before the 17th May A 40,000 service ( Mine will have just over 30,000 at time of service) would cost £435.98 this includes the replacement of the spark plugs which cost £100) MOT at £39 If I needed new tyres they have quoted £188.31 per tyre fitted I have looked on the internet and Skoda have an offer at other local dealers with a major service at £259 ( Not sure I need to check if this includes plugs ?) Halford are quoting £106 for same tyres, they also do services although I think I would prefer the service to be carried out by a Skoda dealer.
  17. Thanks to all for your helpful replies, Furniture: I have been unable to get on to the recall site it says it is currently unavailable , how can I find out if my car was part of the service campaign for the DSG my Yeti is an Elegance 1.2 TSI DSG 105 registered 25-6-2013 Not sure yet if I will go for a extended warrrantee I need to get a quote. An added complication I have is the MOT and the 3 year warrantee are up on the 25th of June 2016 I am due to have a shoulder operation on the 18th of May and will not be able to drive for 6 to 8 weeks after the operation, so I was thinking I may need to have the service and MOT done before the 18th of May losing about 5 weeks on my MOT and Warrantee, The car will not be on the road from the 18th of May till about the 1st 2nd week of July Advanced Member : This next service is only my 2nd service I had a 20,000 service on the 30-10-14 when the milage was 15,568 at the Skoda dealer I bought the car from My current milage is 29907 and I am currently doing about 9,000 per annum Thanks David
  18. My automatic Yeti will be 3 years old in June. Is there any benefit in having the MOT and service carried out at the dealers I bought the car from, would they be aware of any problems I may not know about that they would fix FOC during the service. I have not had any problems with the car in the time I have had it or can think of anything I would need doing under the warrantee.
  19. Hi Thanks for your replies The beeper has started working again ???
  20. Still not working although the warning light on the dial does light up when belt not connected, as far as I know I have not done any thing to disable it
  21. Hi I have just noticed that the seat belt bleeper is not working on either of the two front seats, any ideas what would cause this Thanks David
  22. Hi guys Thanks for that, following instructions given I was able to replace the bulb, although using as big a flat bladed screwdriver I could get into the slot it took as much force I could apply to slide the bulb unit over enough to remove I was considering getting Halfords to fit it so a Fiver saved Thanks again
  23. Hi Gizmo68, Thanks for that I will give it a try tomorrow I was not pushing I was levering
  24. I have a 2013 Yeti , one of the licence plate bulbs has blown How do I remove the bulb , according to the manual page 230 it says it can be removed using a flat screwdriver . What direction and how much force is required, I can not get it to move did not want to apply too much force for fear of damaging the unit Thanks for any help is appreciated
  25. Thanks for all your responses, as well as being too close to the side wall the last one I had driven for over 100 miles that morning and the tyre must have been at least partially flat as the tyre had a ridge around it when I got it changed that the guy said was also a reason why the tyre could not be repaired. I did not know I had a puncture until a lorry driver beeped me , I would have thought i would feel it through the sterring , but as the majority of the miles had been motorway may be not too much steering reaction
