  1. The first car I can remember my dad having was a Mk1 Mini DeLuxe , in Yellow with a Red interior He got rid of that fir a white H reg HB Viva that was a POS! Then he had a Mk1 Escort 1100 , in Tawny Brown met , which I loved! Reg no was GJR 192L He then moved on to his only new car , a Mk1 VW Polo in Riyad Yellow (pre facelift) SKS 325T Next , after an interlude riding a Scooter... Austin Metro City in Red , E143 AVU His last car before he died was one of these , Proton MPI Saloon. in white. Before I was born he had a Morris Minor , but I cant remember that obviously!
  2. Do you have to wax the dashboard? lol Looking good though for the work!
  3. Thanks I will try! Wardy - it might not be as economical as a TDI , but it wont be much worse than my MPI , should see low 40s on a run sticking to the speed limit (mostly!) which is all I can coax out of the Fabia. SUL to pay for again though.....
  4. So have I , athough ive yet to go so far as watching the film Ferat that the car was built for!!
  5. No I got it at Western Volkswagen in Edinburgh , Kinnaird Park. Thing is , I went in to look at a couple of GT TDI MKVs they had , and came away with a GTI! (The GTI wasnt on their website at the time so I had no idea they had one in). Yeah i will stop around here from time to time , and will probably be back in a Skoda at some point in the future.
  6. Lovely cars these , I really like them!
  7. Hi all , Im leaving the world of Skoda ownership as of Wednesday , just done the deal on a Mk V VW Golf GTI 3 door on an 05 reg - Tornado Red with full heated leather , CD changer in centre console and 18 in wheels , 37K miles with FVWSH. Looking forward to it , although slightly sad to be saying goodbye to my faithfull little MPI , which I got 1000 quid for in trade in! Heres a pic off my phone that i took just after the test drive.
  8. Looks good Davy , any plans for it , or leaving it stock?
  9. My Fabia (not a TDI , its an MPI) has made that noise since I bought it over 5 years ago , its never got any worse. Still on its original clutch and release bearing at 10.5 years old and 51K on the clock,
  10. VW used stylised drawings of the Beetle in their brochures for years - maybe it wasnt illegal back then (1940s and 50s)
  11. The wheels will be okay for a start , they will go on his vRS when he gets it.
  12. Welcome back to the fold Davy , hope youre pleased with your new Fabia when you get it!
  13. Well since im 300 plus miles away I dont know how relevent my 2p worth is , but If I was wanting to buy from you , little things like offerening to pay for a night in a Premier Inn might be usefull , as theres no way anyone from up here could get to yours and back home in a day?

I only buy Volksworld now , although its air cooled only. I think VW Motoring and VW - Audi Car have both died a death now as I havent seen them for years , they used to have regular road tests on all the VAG marques.
  15. Sunderland here as well , season ticket holder in the West Stand. - so another 'Black Cat!'
  16. All Fabias are 5 stud - the vRS wheels will fit , if thats what you mean.
  17. Ive had my MPI for over 5 years and the only time its ever let me down was when the original battery died at 6 years old - the cars now 10 years old and running fine. Ive had the usual fabia problems that seem to hit all the cars , but the engine has been spot on , never uses a drop of oil in between services and I get between 36 and 42 mpg (computer figures) depending on what kind of driving its used for. As for tax , because mine is an early car (V reg) my tax is only £125 a year - bonus!
  18. That would be nice - the Golf sized Skoda that is.
  19. So its a classic spec car with alloys and a vRS back spoiler.
  20. If its an 8V , (mpi) it will have a chain wont it? Ive never heard of one of those breaking
  21. The Prototypes of this were Gas Turbine powered too , however the production units were Diesel. Trans Europa Express TEE
  22. Ive crawled all the way through that! It was open to enthusiasts a while back and we got guided tour anround and through it , I dont think it will ever move again under its own power though its in a bit of a state now!
