  1. Will a MKII fit? I have a full set for a MKII and if it fits I am open to offers mate, has a almost brand new tyre on it also. I can check which tyre in the morning if it is confirmed by another Briskodian that it is suitable.
  2. Evening all, It is great shame that after 10+ years and 3'rd Skoda Octavia VRS, (2 x 1.8T a 2001, 2004 and 1 x 2.0 TFSI 2011 current vehicle) I will be saying goodbye to Skoda. Unfortunately I have received bad news that the timing chain tensioner has failed on my vehicle and that it has caused a catastrophic failure to my engine and the cost to me in almost the cost of the vehicle, so it will be bye bye to my Skoda. I do feel massively let down by Skoda UK considering the fact I have been a long loyal customer who has always had main dealer serviced vehicles, I even asked if they would allow some money off a new car and I would look to upgrade the vehicle at a further cost to me, but they were not interested. It is a shame that now I have this failure I see how much information including VAG own TPI's on this subject that VAG do not inform their customers and give them the opportunity to pay to replace the known faulty parts with updated versions. If I was armed with this information by Skoda I would have replaced said tensioner and chain at my own cost like I have done with anything else my vehicle has required, but instead I am left with non serviceable part which should not have failed and now left with a broken engine and a car I am going to have to just write off when market value is probably £6K. I don't know if anyone else has had a similar experience and can offer advice, but at this present moment it seems quite conclusive that Skoda UK are not interested in helping.
  3. Hi Taz which VRS MK1 did you have? If your coming back to a newer VRS from your previous experiences then you may already have your answer. I had 2 MK1's petrol VRS and decided it was time to be more sensible and we got a 2.0tdi Patriot. 2 years later and I'm back with the MK2FL petrol VRS. I'm glad to be back as will you in either petrol or diesel so go and test drive them both and then get the petrol :-)
  4. Maybe a silly question as the post is VCDS options, but I am due to be getting a FL Oct VRS in the next couple of weeks and wondered which from these options are accessible and can be changed via MaxiDot or do they all require VCDS? Thanks
  5. John, sorry to hear your problem, I have had my noise confirmed by one of the sponsors on here as being present, so I know I am not crazy now, but too subtle to do anything about :-( That is after I spent a lot of money with them on what they thought the issue was :-( I since took it to Skoda who said that it was a dodgy wheel, so we replaced that wheel with the spare, but not sure it made a huge difference, so it is now down to getting that bearing done which I have not had time to do. My dodgy wheel was on the rear, so the directional thing was hard to establish with mine as it didn't really make that much difference as it never really got much louder. Once I have done the rear bearing I'll let you know.
  6. Thanks all - being a whole assembly actually is easier for me to fit myself rather than having to worry about presses etc... I see that as a bonus. Just sent you PM now mate. Again Thanks
  7. Does anyone have a part # for a 1.8t VRS on a 54 plate. Is this OK http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380357072239?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Euro car parts do not seem to stock any for my car :-( Anyone got any fitting instructions also, doesn't look to bad as it comes as a complete unit. Thanks
  8. I had a 51 plate and loved it. All it needed, I now realise was a RARB, but the 51 plate died as I aqua-plained it of a soken muddy road through a road sign, a fence and into a field with 3 bulls in it which took great interest in my lunch on the passanger seat as I tried to keep them from venturing out onto the road  . So I got another one after saying how bad these cars are in the wet and how much they would understeer. I had no none of the nigling problems at all with my old one, running an APR map, but this new one 54 plate with a revo has given me all the mentioned problems of wheel bearings, it had already had a turbo replacement when I bought it at 29K miles as me being second owner, it has had, creaking stock ARB bushes, it needed a heliport to resolve an issue with cyclinder 1 as it shot a spark plug, and now recently a cracked manifold. So I understand your pain. When these cars are sweet they are great wolf's in sheeps clothing and will surprise a few. I think we've learnt maybe once you've had one that's maybe enough, although as I said I do love mine when it running sweet, so hopefully fingers crossed it is a wheel bearing. Maybe the noise you hear is something like a manifold blowing either gasket or crack like I had mate that did give a constant drone, buffeting noise \ feeling.
  9. I don't know if I can leave mine like this. I'll sell it if I can't get it sorted as it drives me mental. I do hope it is a wheel bearing at least it is fixed then although just spent £600 on her to resolve the noise, but didn't.
  10. When you say you took the pipe at which end? Behind the front (passanger side I think) wheel arch trim the hose may have popped off.
  11. Billy did you ever get your noise sorted out? When the noise first started was it something you could clearly hear or was it more of a dull drone and something you could feel rather than hear directly? I have a really dull noise on mine which I think is running gear related it is very subtle and not as noisy as something like a wheel bearing. I was hoping it may amoutn into something more so that a mechanic could hear it, but it hasn't. It is really annoying trying to explain what is it to a mechanic when you know it shouldn't be there and is not normal, but is very subtle.
  12. I purchased one of these when I got my VRS. They do exactly what they are supposed to. You may be able to do it via VAGCOM, but I wouldn't know how, so this achieved what I wanted quickly and easily.
  13. It is a 54 plate VRS with an AUQ engine. The brrrrp happens within the same gear, it it just whilst the engine is under load during passing through that rev range.
  14. Having done a bit more research and testing, listening I think it may be to do with or related to one of these others posts http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/162689-turbo-manifold-gasket/ http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/158611-manifold-gasket-screws-tightened-now-a-metallic-vibration/ http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/190998-low-rpm-unknown-mechanical-noise/ I have noticed that there appear to be 2 sounds which may or may not be related and need your help in further analysis. Sound one is the brrrrpp which is heard when using the torque of the engine low rpm 2000-2500 going up a gradiant this doesn't last long. The other sound is a more tinny rattle which can be heard as a constant noise which may also be causing a very annoying vibration reverb which can be felt and is quite noticible from 2500-3000 maybe higher. This tinny noise and vibration also seems to be revs related as I can drop the clutch with the car moving along and the reverb \ tinny noise will disappear. The noise tinny vibration sounds like it comes from the back of the engine bay under the windscreen and with someone revving the engine around 3000rpm it sounds like there may also be some excessive air around that area also. Any additional help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
