  1. Presumably this means Superb production started at this new factory, not started overall? (Translation is a bit hit and miss)
  2. Due to go to the dealers this weekend so will have a chat and see what is available.
  3. Thanks TP but second hand is out (SWMBO, I have long given up looking for the logic, clearly it sits on a higher plane).
  4. Thanks all for the helpful comments, really useful. Cotswoldlad you ask what I am looking for. I started out enquiring about a 1.4 or 1.8 petrol, manual 4x4 but dealers advised manufacture of these 2 engines was being stopped in the run down to this years facelift. I cant go for diesel (SHMBO, don't ask). Hence considering 2wd as a possible solution. Or could wait for these engines to come back on the Facelifted version but no date for that yet.
  5. I have been looking at the 4wd options in the Skoda range but cant get the right combination of transmission/engine type/engine size at the moment. So, a question. If I get a 2wd with full ESC will this cope with mild off road work (i.e. not 6 inches of soft mud but the odd wet grassy incline and snowy path)? I know it is not as good as full 4wd but is there any real "limited slip differential" type ability in the ESC set up that would get me out of the more common sticky situations?
  6. I'd heard VAG engines were sensitive to a lean mixture and wonder if increasing the airflow could cause problems?
  7. Ouch! I had been thinking I could consider the Octavia 4x4 as a possible fallback. Where did you see this TP? I can only see the 4x4 estate with Diesel engines. My preference is a 4x4 (of some sort) with a petrol engine and a manual box. So far Skoda seem to be removing them just before I get there :wonder:
  8. Thanks all for the answers and comments on my first post. Reading between the lines the view seems to be that this is a fairly standard rundown of the old model in preparation for the introduction of the facelifted model (at some as yet indeterminate time but rumored to be around year end). So, one last question (which none of the dealers I have spoken to seems able or willing to answer). What is the likelihood of the new line up NOT having a petrol engine available in the 4x4?
  9. Good day all. My first post here so please let me know if I contravene the local by laws. In the throes of choosing a new car and the Yeti 1.8 petrol 4x4 was leading the race until this morning when I called the local dealer to arrange a test drive. He told me Skoda were ceasing manufacturing this engine (and the 2WD 1.4petrol) in the next few weeks as a precursor to the introduction of the facelifted Yeti at the end of the year. Other dealers have confirmed. (it will remain available on the L&K model apparently but I don't know for how long) Have any of you heard this? Also, is this a temporary thing or will these engines be available on the new facelifted Yeti? Not keen to buy a new car only to see it go out of production immediately.
  10. Hi On the hunt for a new car, Skoda are well in the frame with a Yeti currently leading the field. Hope to get some advice from the other members.
