  1. hi mate sorry got sidetracked . it was celtic tuning that did it. and they reckoned it would need turbo and injector upgrade for a stage 2. running standard cat as also iam confused what to do with that. de cat i believe would cause mot problems and not sure what to do with the 2 lambda sensors?? sports cat is very expensive but maybe worth a look. car has large cold air feed pipe to inside of front bumper running a k and n type cone filter. in tank standard high pressure pump. yours sounds pretty good and i have done a lot of that already. how do you get around the de cat etc.?
  2. love the humour haha. :-) oh dear lol thats starting to sound expensive and i have a heavy right foot so you can gaurantee those bad boys coming through the side of the engine.o.k what if i stick to my stock turbo with the current mods ??? what else can i do. i believe its running around 200 to 210 bhp i have a printout somewhere. my local re maping center wont take it up to a stage 2 they reckon it wont handle it/run right. ? not sure how true that is though as i have seen lots of other people saying they have had it done up country although not sure if they needed extra mods. would be happy with more torque and round the 250 bhp area. andy.
  3. hi thanks for youre reply iam very used to powerfull front wheel drives and the above dous sound about right lol. have already uprated suspension etc brakes iam looking into. was looking for nearer 300bhp . andy
  4. hi all. i know this subject has probably been up several times. i have an AUQ 180 octavia and its been re mapped stage 1 also fitted FMI and upgraded hoses. also bailey 007 fitted. car goes well but typical bloke need more power. i have been told a change of turbo and injectors plus a second re map should do it. i believe its fitted with the ko3 turbo. my question is what turbo can i buy which will all but bolt straight on and allow for more power(tuning)??? k04 (maybe) ? and what injectors same question really?? any help would be greatly appreciated.andy.
  5. hi mate in regards to youre problem as above I have had all these symptoms and more when I first bought mine. all the problems were from the multiplug in the drivers door that plugs into the black box attached to the window motor the wiring rots here and generally when you pull the plug out half the pins come out the black box with it. I went for new short door section of loom and second hand module problem solved. although be warned the black boxes although all look the same and plug in as per norm. have many different part numbers and different configs so match yours before buying. hope this helps.
  6. it is possible that someone may have swapped them as I bought it as spares or repairs originally and they may have used parts off it for a doner or something. p.s upside down bulbs love it sounds like something I would do with a major hangover. :-)
  7. hi. yeah checked and double checked by the garage definatly correctly in there slots.
  8. hi all. well the guy said he physically couldn't get the beams to bend that far. is it possible that the bulbs maybe positioned differently i.e 45 degree or something. but the only way I can see this to be true is that the reflector positioning i.e longside of reflecter and short side of reflecter to be opposite therefore altering the way t??he beam is bent.??
  9. hi all. iam hoping someone could shed some light on my problem. I have recently had an mot on my vrs and I have owned the car for less than a year so it was the first mot I have took it for under my ownership. it failed on the headlamp beams reflecting the wrong way ( like a left hand drive car would have) its a bit weird though as I cant see any noticeable difference compared to other Octavia headlamps for sale on ebay etc. i.e the reflectors are all pointing the same way on visual inspection. any help or anyone else come across this that could help me please.
  10. hi all. been having a strange problem with my vrs since purchased 12 months ago. when the car is cold i.e the choke is on and sai pump running. the lights etc will surge every other revolution of the engine. but it will only do it for about a minute then return to normal. after connecting a voltage meter to it from cold it confirms that the voltage is jumping from 12.4 to 14.4 constantly for the first minute. iam a bit stumped poss alternater problem??? anyone had this problem??
  11. hi everyone iam hoping someone can point me in the right direction with regards to dump valves or diverter as they are properly known I believe. I have a 0ctavia vrs 2004 1.8 t. my friend removed my standard vag recirc valve and replaced with a bung then fitted a atmospheric one into the metal turbo pipe which sounds great and the car seems to go fine but every other day it throws the ecu light on which my friend just resets. so I guess it dousnt like it. what dump valve is recommended as a replacement for the standard vag. iam told it should be a recirc but I like the noise of the atmospheric valve and have seen many 1.8 t golfs etc using atmospheric without any probs. has anyone experienced this and knows the solution.?????
  12. hi everyone iam new to the skoda world having vw up till now(although its much the same). I recently purchased a 2004 skoda Octavia vrs 180bhp 1.8t 20 v. and iam experiencing a problem which I would be most gratefull if anyone has ever experienced this themselves or may know what the problem is. the car starts and runs great no problem. no smoke and no funny noises. also idles smoothly and seems fairly responsive(normally). when you are driving the car it will suddenly loose power like its running out of fuel but dousnt misfire. when it dous this I turn the ignition off briefly then restart and off it goes again with no probs and there are no engine management lights on. I have had the car plugged in and its showing no faults or codes. also there is no pattern to when it dous it. sometimes you can drive it 30 miles before it dous it other times only a couple. really struggling with this one I can only think it must be a mechanical issue over electrical. any one have any idea.
  13. hi everyone iam a bit of a newbie to the skoda world. and I have just purchased a skoda Octavia vrs 180bhp 1.8 t 20 v. on a 2004 plate. got it cheap as it needed some love although its now looking good iam experiencing a problem and hoping someone could point me in the right direction. iam not shy to working on cars so not afraid to get stuck in. car starts and runs sweet with no smoke no lights on dash i.e ecu and idles smoothly. but when you drive it sometimes it just looses all power and dies but if you turn the ignition off and re start it. it will drive off like nothing happened. there are no faults or codes showing on the ecu so I can only assume that it is a mechanical problem not linked or monitored by the ecu. has anyone experienced this before??? as iam struggling with this one.
