  1. you cant get a seal for fan switch either dealer or non genuine ptfe tape only anyone who says can get a seal is talking c**p
  2. 33 years old got mine last week and got rid of Octavia 1.6 se diesel 2011 which was on a bungee to and from dealer why did I not get one sooner. A petrol one I now have the same year 2011.
  3. 3 weeks got car back still **** Autosales Bilston are hopeless still crap basically got the impression they just wanted rid and various crap on not finding codes and timing out so the do not have the tools so why are they an approved dealer and the plus the master tech was on holiday this wk. So given back courtesy car. Customer service are crap too no compensation and lost a holiday because of it (could not use courtesy car for hols). Will be gone Monday sick of diesels this is 2 I have had issues with different makes but still CR engines. On the bright side still will have a Skoda Octavia (good as a family car) just a Petrol one A VRS.
  4. The thing is i do high miles and the car is used on high speef roads and the engine revs are high enough to clear the dpf every day
  5. diesel exhausts do last its petrol which do not had to have one done on my wifes fabia not too bad 52 plate 1.4 petrol 52000 miles but its to be expected
  6. Lets hope it gets sorted and not happen again as in mentioned this is the second CR diesel car which has some sort of running issue both may be different brands but share the same common rail diesel technology. I may just be unlucky but I never had any sort of issue with a petrol engine. It was my mileage I do which made me turn to diesel. I have had 2 other diesel cars with a CR engine and never had a problem I feel its just the stuff they keep putting in to keep emmisions low god help people when these things go wrong in future. I may as well go to petrol may cost more but cheaper to fix and no DPF crap as catalytic converters are cheap to repair and petrol engines now are just as economical and as powerful as a diesel look at the 1.2tsi
  7. Well Its been at dealers for a day now (at least I have a tdi rapid for a courtesy car) they have updated software (told by them) which has made it start better but the technician is not happy as its not running as it should be or as he feels as it should so I can give them credit they want to do a decent job (I hope). I have not really questioned how it runs as I always expected diesels to be a little slow getting going due to turbo lag but driving the rapid with an identical engine boy it picked up quick. PS I do not like the Rapid very harsh ride mirrors too small and poor rear visability as the back end is up in the sky as I feel it has been designed to force you to have sensors which I hate. I do not want beep beep beep I don't get them when reversing an articulated lorry (the reverse horn does not count)
  8. I use my car as a diesel should be as I do a lot of miles on various roads and according to the books I should be keeping the dpf clear and free flowing
  9. I will print off this post and hand to dealer at its in the 22nd July if it is DPF problem the car is gone I am not going to have a potential big bill once the warranty is finished so much for Volkswagen reliability and to be honest any diesel rather have a petrol and pay the extra tax, fuel costs, had this hassle on two different makes both with common rail diesel engines a ford cmax (new shape) and now this I am a lorry driver and they do not have problems with filters and other things for years
  10. no difference tried that at various garages (no supermarket crap put in).
  11. Hello I have a 1.6 tdi cr SE Octavia which has had problems starting from cold but once started is fine even if driven and the engine is not fully warm. The car has been to dealer being under warranty till 2014 they diagnosed a coolant temp sensor but still the problem remains its going in again. I have seen various forums on cr engines bring **** and having injector failure/pump due to high tolerance levels. I drive high miles so a diesel is a better option and use lots of high speed roads I hope it not any dpf issues as if so the car is gone. The car is a 2011 model. I have looked at the 1.4 tsi and could get a straight swap on a same year and spec. I would rather not but if these issues are going to happen after warranty I will get rid now. Any advice.
