  1. I have the foot-well lights (I thought they're not available in the UK?). If you set them to 0 in the options menu they will come on upon opening the car, but they'll turn off once you set off. I've seen this general misconception. If you look at the official specs, the high powered variants (GTI/GTD, VRS TSI/TDI) are indeed heavier than the "normal" versions, but they are almost identical between themselves. So a VRS TDI weighs about the same as a GTD. A 30cm stretch in some sheet metal will add some weight, but not that much!
  2. I'm glad I could help. I wasn't expecting such an enthusiastic response. It is a major improvement for the interior of the car and my daughter loves it.
  3. Wow! Really like the wheels, the stance and the overall look. Me also having a white combi VRS has nothing to do with it...
  4. Search for my user name, I've posted mine in two or three separate threads. Here's a link.
  5. I like the "off-roading" they show in that video. You could do that in a VRS without even trying... Could've done better to show why haldex 5 is better over the FWD cars. Otherwise I like the wheels and the interior. Not that keen on the bumpers though, they don't really seem to match the rest of the car.
  6. I do like the matte effect from the wrap though. The color isn't too shabby either... Not that much like the Volvo one.
  7. I like the blackened Skoda logo on the bonnet. Not sure about all the other mods, a bit too OTT for me... Congrats to them for trying anyway, being a show car and all. PS: Is that a matte blue vinyl wrap? Looks like it. I'm actually thinking about getting mine wrapped, since I'm getting rather bored of the white I have.
  8. Like it was mentioned already, we all must be driving stolen cars in different ways, as I'm getting way lower mpg numbers when I "need" to. I'm closer to Orville's numbers, but that's probably because we both live in crowded cities with heavy traffic. My short trips don't help either. If I'd be driving the car at a constant 65 mph it could get better, but I just can't get myself to do that...
  9. Lol, you sound like you belong in pimp my ride or something similar... :P
  10. Hmm, those seats look amazing. But I kind of figured it must be an aftermarket system. Still, it looks like really good job, whoever did those. If you could spare some more detail on those, that'd be great. Maybe open up a new topic so we don't hijack this one. I bet a lot of people would be interested to know more (specs, price etc).
  11. They must be. They look bigger with those 19" wheels than they do on mine with only 18" wheels. It's probably going to be as Neily pointed out...
  12. Sorry for the off-topic, but say what? Please expand... Was that a factory option? Haven't heard of it anywhere.
  13. It's quite obvious that the rear brakes are larger than on the standard VRS. Definitely a test mule of something even more powerful than a stock VRS. My guess it will only have the diff (like the Cupra), but not the haldex (like the R). Bring it on! I'm curious about the styling changes (if any) that will come with this model.
  14. Probably they've heard enough complaints to come to their senses and at least tone the damn thing down!
  15. Can you give us some specs for the pipes? Also, is it louder overall or just higher in the revs? Hopefully it isn't tiresome on the motorway or in town.
  16. There's someone from Romania who's done that exact same thing. Fake trim removed and had some custom pipes done to fill the hole. He's also posted some pictures here on Briskoda. Search for user "CSM" if I remember correctly.
  17. @Wiggos, you are talking about completely different items manufactured by completely different companies for completely different purposes. It's not the same thing as a Skoda technician saying the USB port from the Swing system does something else than what the Amundsen/Columbus one does. PS: It would be rather silly to mention that a 12V USB charger doesn't provide a data connection. Actually you can hook into the wires and you can provide a data channel if you so desire! It is a standard. And don't get me started on Apple and standards...
  18. That's a bit of a bull****, if I may say so... USB is a standard (with different versions mind you), so having it on a Swing or a Columbus doesn't matter at all. It's not like you're getting different USB ports depending on your multimedia system. They're all going to be the same USB version/standard for the Octavia.
  19. Actually it has all of those. Can't remember if the footwell lights were an option in the UK.
  20. Hmm, that Rieger one looks even better... And they have the side-skirts as well.
  21. To be honest, I don't think that screwing up the engine choice is an acceptable mistake. Maybe if he missed out on the VBF, or some of those Simply Clever packages, or footwell lights. But not the engine! At 25k/year I suggest you ask for what you ordered in the first place. The real world mpg figures are rather different than what Skoda would like you to believe. This is coming from a TSI VRS owner. PS: Lets not forget the case of another briskodian who received a new car, just because the factory screwed up the paint on the roof/A pillar. A TSI instead of a TDI would more than warrant a new car.
  22. The OP must have referred to having a charger cable coming from the boot 12V plug. Secondly, that's a misconception. Just because a car's electrical system is capable of working with high amperage, that doesn't mean the plugs (USB, 12V etc) that the user has access to, will work at that amperage. They need to be safe to operate with a wide variety of equipment. So you'll still get something like 1A as maximum draw. Any higher amperage won't do any good (as the internal battery protection would kick in for a phone) and would do more harm through excessive heating. But that 1A should be more than enough to power stuff like external USB HDDs, let alone charge a mobile phone. If it doesn't, there's a problem along the way. First thing to check are the fuses (like Neily already suggested), but I'm guessing there isn't a separate fuse just for the USB port. Probably there's one for the entire head unit. When it comes to control, only the Columbus will let you control an iDevice through the USB port, as the control is handled by the unit. Bolero and Amundsen need the Mitsumi interface.
  23. Yet your user info says "Metal Grey VRS Estate on order". I suppose you ended up agreeing with the article.
