  1. Hello there folks, Suffering at the moment from my alarm going off randomly much to the neighbours annoyance, it's an 08 Superb II 170 TDI , Had a look on here, and It looks like it probably boils down to a reserve power battery on the sounder, or even dampness has got into something somewhere. My question to you is, if I was to pull the fuse I think it's the No.34 5a ( dashboard fusebox ), would that act as a temporary fix for the noise issue at least? Many thanks all.
  2. Hi thanks for reply. He is just off the phone and tells me that engine more than likely is stuffed ,the clicking when key is turned, is because the engine wont turn over he said sump had a crack, but still had oil in it. He is taking gearbox off also said something about flywheel, but it had Solid flywheel conversion done at around 60k so he does not think it's that. Things look bleak. D
  3. Hello Everyone. Couple of days ago my 2007 Octavia 1.9 TDI had a rather big issue! Driving Normally all day, then suddenly as I pulled out of the end of a junction I could hear a ticking noise as I had my window down then after a few seconds engine just dies, I tried to start it again, but it was if the battery had died, then after another attempt it started , but very poorly and did not last long till it conked out, then after another attempt just a click when turning the key ( as if dead battery ) but ignition lights all came on fine and no warning lights came on,or stayed on when all this was happening. Car Had to be recovered, and was sent to a independent VW group guy, who has only had time to have a quick look (or so he said) and told me it was not the timing belt. That's what I thought it may have been ( But was done 20k miles ago). So far i have not heard any news. Any Help would be great, Did a search of forum but could not seem to find anything on this matter. Miles: 127000 Serviced every 10000 Thanks Very Much. D
  4. Funny you should mention AC, as I did switch it on , but soon found out it was not working ! so turned it off.. not long after i noticed this issue.
  5. 2007 Skoda Octaiva 1.9 TDI 120000 miles. Hi everyone. Just noticed that my cooling fans are running while engine is running, even when i'm not stuck in traffic, when I stop at a junction I can hear them running. The do turn off when i switch of engine, and they do seem to stop and start. I know this is probably perfectly normal at its fairly warm today 22 deg C, just I never noticed this happen before even in the very very hot summer of last year. I just thought it a bit odd as car is moving with very few stops... 30-50 MPH, If i was stuck in traffic for ages I would understand it. I did search for other threads, but all I could find was cooling fans on and staying on even when engine is cold. Many thanks for any Input.
  6. Hi everyone Sorry for posting this as new thread, as I have seen quite a lot of discussion on this topic. But I was hoping for a bit of help, just started having some indicator problems on my octy MKII, it is only intermittent at the moment, some times when i indicate nothing happens at all, some times when i indicate right, the left indicator starts to flash. ( all Bulbs are fine ) all is working fine again at the moment, but im sure this is not the end of it. I noticed in other discussions, that people suggest changing the hazard switch, as its also a relay, they also say that they needed to replace the whole indicator stalk, or clean with contact spray, I was hoping to try the cleaning with contact spray first to see if this would sort it out until such times as I can get the stalk fixed. My question is, is it possible to get at the contacts on stalk without removing steering wheel and also could I use just normal WD-40 or should I get some proper contact spray for the job. Many thanks for any help on this matter, EDIT- Just noticed that I posted this in the wrong section, sorry all... brain must not be activated properly or something.
  7. Thank you Jonno ! Makes perfect sence to me now.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, so I'm very sorry if I have posted this question in the wrong section. Could anyone answer me this? I have just lifted the bonnet on my 07 Octavia 1.9 TDi , it has recently be serviced, but i noticed the air intake at the front grill the lid was loose ( not airbox the part before the airbox) so i took it off and then clicked it back into place again, thing I noticed, and was hoping someone could tell me was there was no filter in this small part, not even sure if there should be, also you can see right through it from the grill ! Is the airflow suppose to just pass straight through ? Now im just not sure if this is correct or not or I have a bit missing from the assembly. Sorry about my description, i'm totally Not mechanically minded ! Many thanks for any assistance .
