  1. I know it's late compared to other posts, but you don't happen to have the front interior door handles left anf right do you ?
  2. Cheers guys, he is the big ends as well because they were showing signs of wear but because he had to check them in the grand scheme of things doesn't add a huge cost and for piece of mind as I'm planning on being the last owner of the car. Plus he did a few other things like replace rear wiper motor as knackered and replace aerial. If the seller keeps his word for the engine side and added with the money I got from scrapping my old car it'll only be a few hundred to have a very solid engine and car. I get mates rates in terms of parts and time on payment nice instalment plan :-)
  3. I now have her back :-)...the bill is a bit hard to swallow but if the sell stays true to his word it's not too bad ! No I can start to drive her and see how good these cars can be
  4. Hello mate where are you ? I could be interested in the boot carpets/sides and also would you sell the front speaker grills/covers seperate to the door cards ? Cheers Steve
  5. The question marks were meant to be smiley faces.
  6. Good news finally, was oil pick up and oil pump...suspect the every 10,000 mile oil changing according to the service book stamps might not necessarily be true or very cheap oil used. Big end bearings checked and all look good and as expected for almost 100,000 miles. And no other issues found so pretty happy to be honest. My mate will hopefully be doing it tomorrow and a few little things just to make it sweet. And I'm going to treat her to a full professional valet and mop so she's look like a brand new one !! Smiles all round ????????
  7. So today both cars I own are on the back of trucks my old vectra on the way to the scrapyard in the sky and octavia on its way to The Phirm so my mate can fix her...hopefully in a couple days will know what the issue is ????
  8. Thanks :-) I'm keeping everything crossed...I'm so gutted...I always seem to have bad luck with cars Last car I brought had the head gasket go a couple days later and that was brought from my old man and been in the family for like 5 years.
  9. Thanks guys, just can't help worry done some proper damage to the top end. Literally stopped it as soon as I could which was about 30-60 seconds. And strangely yesterday oil was only reading like the minimum hence why I topped up only about 1 litre and checked it today and it seems like there's double the amount in the sump. Closer inspection of the dipstick shows a couple of small parts of the ridged have broken off, now I'm wondering if when people have viewed the car it's broken bits due to fatigue and gone down the tube and that's caused blockage to the pick up pipe. I'd put money on when my mate takes it apart there's little orange bits of plastic !
  10. Yea sorry is an Octavia, was brought privately. Checked online there are no real laws/rights and as I mentioned we took for a 10/15 mile test drive and was fine then I drove 60 miles back and was fine. Seller has offered to pay half of repair bill he did seem an honest bloke. I do like the car and a bit torn on what to do, but with it being a private sale think going to stick with it. Going to get it taken to my mate who is a VAG specialist as he will fix and check of any other possible damage to bearings etc. Good thing I also have a mate who has just started up a car transporting business ! I will keep you guys informed, thank you for your replies. Yesterday was such a bad day !
  11. Firstly I am only a 1 day owner of a MK1 vRS and I'm in need of advice and help. I have been looking for a vRS for a while and yesterday me and a mate when to view a very tidy looking one about 60 miles away from me. We are both engineers and very car savvy we did all proper checks and inspected the car, did back ground checks and took for a 10-15 mile test driver where both of us drove it and no issues what so ever. Car is on 93000 and had cam belt & water pump at skoda dealer less than 2000 miles ago and service book stamped up fully with approx 10k mile between services and receipts for oil and filter change in march. So I parted with my hard earned cash and drove it home was fine all down motorway etc a couple miles from home after giving it a bit of a boot full oil light came on so drove it steady and went off again so thought must just be a bit low. Both me and my mate checked oil several times before and after test drive and was fine. I checked it when got home and if I'm honest the vRS dipstick is pretty rubbish for actually see where the oil is but was just above the minimum so topped it up. Bearing in mind had fully checked under neither and no signs of leaks or smelling of oil. Packed car and headed away for another 60 mile journey oil light came on straight away so stopped let it settle and checked again and just to be safe put a bit more in. Headed off again and got about 3 miles down road and oil light cam on again having just gone round a roundabout then started sounding like a diesel so pulled straight over and switched off. Rung my mate who's a VAG specialist and he said could be possible oil pump !! :-( Spoke to seller he was a shocked as I was but is willing to pay at least half towards repair. My question is, is that the best I can hope for or can I make him take it back and get all my money back ? Sorry long winded but just so gutted and angry Cheers Steve
