Hi, I have a 2018 octadia 2.0 TDI,I currently have the engine management light displayed and have a code P26F800 coolant pump c stuck but no overheating issue.From cold temp gauge rises to 3 bars, drops to zero then climbs steady to 90 degrees where it then stays.When codes are cleared light does not come back on from cold but if I do a short run , stop for around an hour and restart light comes back on.I have checked temp with diag tool and found gauge starts to rise at 60 degrees and drops to 48 degrees when needle drops to 0.I have taken it to a VW specialist who after having it for a day said water pump needs changing as it is leaking but there is no leak whatsoever.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I understand the usual vapour from a cold damp exhaust ,just never seen it from a rocker box or dipstick tube before.Certainly don't get this on industrial common rail engines Thanks for the reply btw any help from anyone with knowledge of this engine is greatly appreciated.

I'm currently looking for a mk 3 octavia 2 litre tdi ,went to look at a 15 plate with 56k miles yesterday ,found when engine was up to temp there was white vapour from engine filler cap and dipstick tube Dealer had a golf gtd with same engine and 12kmiles asked to compare the engine on this which I found to be the same .Is this normal ? Hi thanks for the guide Bowders1 ive just changed drivers harness and reg £30 from breakers and door lock complete from D2P autoparts £22 now need to source microswitch to repair original do you know anything about these ebay locks ive used if theyre trouble ill replace repaired one sooner rather than later. Thanks for reply the reason i wang to fund out is ive noticed a metallic tappung noise which i didnt notice when i bought the car which does not really fit in with an engine which has only done 45000 miles

Hi i have recently bought an octavia silverline with the 1.9tdi Alh engine could anyone tell me where the engine number is stamped on the block ive found the number on the timing cover label but want to make sure it is the original low mileage engie any advie much appreciated.

Is the non pd as good ont fuel as the pd .Thanks for your really helpfull replies btw.

Hi; im going to look at an 03 octavia 1.9tdi 90 bhp will this be pd or non pd ? Are both engines ok and is one noisier?Any advise greatfully received thanks.

I am going to look at a 2001/Y fabia described as immaculate with 39000 genuine miles the asking price is £3000. I know all the usual things to look for but would like advice with any problems peculiar to fabias also could anyone tell me how much i should offer for it it is a 1.9tdi

Thanks for the replies so far,i've been driving diesel vans for years slow ones which used to have to be driven and in recent years turbo'd one's with dmf to take clutch judder away though without dmf this was never an issue once used to the vehicle,i used to drive a caddy D reg which seemed very slow and noisy till i got used to it but thats 20 years ago and i cant really remember how good / bad it was,i have heard turbo and dmf give trouble regularly on tdi and dont want the hassle but might have to end up going down this road to get decent performance,thanks again for the replies.

Hi,I am looking to buy a fabia sdi estate as the size is great for what i need and i believe they are very reliable,my only concern is i would be using it alot in west Wales which is mainly steep hills and would like to hear from anyone who uses an sdi for this type of driving.

Thanks for replies ,the car I've seen for sale is a 2001 with just over 100,000 on the clock which I believe is not a lot Got an SDI but I don't know much about thesr bodywork wise so I guess ill ill Have to Have a good look for rust I'm not expecting a faultless car for what they're asking but obviously don't want rust

HI all does anyone know if the octavia 1 SDI is fitted with a dual mass flywheel as I'm looking to buy a reliable economical diesel but don't want the problems with turbo and dmf look forward to reading your replies which will be very much appreciated.

HI all I am currently looking for a small economical runaround,I Have seen a couple of owner reviews praising the fabia the SDI is apparently slow but I like the idea of no turbo to self destruct,So how slow are they and are they're any major faults with these cars do dmf's break any quicker than any other car,any major electrical faults ?would really appreciate your help.

I'm in Ian from Dudley West Mids I run a van and and am looking for a small economical runaround,Ive found good reviews of the fabia SDI estate and want to find out if they suffer from any expensive mechanical issues. Look forward to hearing your views on these Ian
