  1. Ok thanks for the feedback I will go for the VW site and try that file, do I need to install the Discover Care for Windows. Will the file load onto the SD card ok
  2. I was going to see if there are any updated maps for the SKODA sat nav. Anyway I have tried to get onto the update site but keep getting unavailable messages, is it just me or is there a problem. I tried to get to a help site but it came up in what looked like czecoslovakian and google couldnt translate it.
  3. and on and on So I think my problem apart from not doing computer sciences, was that I was trying run the destination import and other files for the destination creator from the SD card. I have done the same process again using files located in a directory on the hard drive and that seems to give me the POI file download every time ( result Ya ) But, now I have the POI file extracted to the SD card and have run the poifix.py script which appears to give the correct screen display of things being done, when I put the SD card into the Amundsen I get an indication that there is an update and proceed to the manage memory section, then select to continue, the Amundsen stops with an error saying the media has been removed, very strange. I have tried this process several times with the same result, just going to try with another SD card tomorrow as this is getting to much for an old SKODA owner. Any advice appreciated. As a footnote if PocketGPSworld could integrate their CamerAlert into Android Auto then that would be brilliant as it is a great app, even my good lady likes it.
  4. And on and on. Been trying for several weeks on and off to get the poi file for the Amundsen Columbus 2016 MIB 2. I managed to create one a couple of weeks ago but it would not load into the sat nav. Tried again today as I had a day with no jobs on, anyway :- 1 Downloaded CONSOLIDATED file from Pocketgps world in *.GPX format ( ok ) 2 Extract file and remove *.BMP files ( ok ) 3 Download new *.BMP files ( ok ) 4 Go to SKODA MY DESTINATIONS and inport files and bitmaps ( ok ) 5 Create POI files ( not working ) Tried again with same file from Pocketgps world, this time with original *.BMP files but still not creating files. Is the portal down or is there something else I am missing ? I have had to use SpeedcamUpdates.com for the sat nav files, the files works every time with a BOING before the cams but they are not consolidated and I am sure some are missing.
  5. Back again, I have a subscription with Pocket GPS World which I have used for the past 5 years to create Safety camera files. Now the link to the VW creator site has gone and the SKODA POI creater just does not work. Is there going to be a new way to create the POI ? or would I be better using the ANDROID app "CamerAlert" fromPocket GPS World. I have tried it and it does work but not with Android Auto.
  6. More about the "safety cameras" I had been using the VW site to create Poi's since 2013 when I got a Yeti with Columbus RNS510 (also fitted in VW vehicles) Anyway I have tried various methods to make the CSV,GPX,KML and other files into Poi's but now given up. Found a websit that does the Poi's for "safety cameras) in one bunch. (SpeedcamUpdates) You can select your vehicle type and model, I downloaded and installed first time and also now I get an audible warning when approaching the position od a camera. So if you dont mind paying 13Euro for a one off download then it will mean no more sleepless night worrying about how to create Poi's Best I can come up with.
  7. The standard KIA refered to was my brother in laws he has a Sorrento so the comparison is probably a bit one sided. His KIA has 5 cameras. Thanks for the photo of the AMUNDSEN, it looks like the connection is there. I will get my wizard to get his book of spells ready.
  8. Managed to get a 2016 YETI L&K in Nov last year only had 1800 miles on it. Ex demonstrator, good price, rubbish price for my old YETI 2013 model with everyting on it including reversing camera, detachable towbar, TPM, sunroof & duckdo. Anyway I want to fit a reversing camera to this poorly equipped SKODA YETI, even though it is supposed to be top of the range it has less extras than a standard KIA. So glad to get that bit over with now to business, I have a wizard who says for a large bucket of gold coins or was it bit coins ? he can do the deed to this last of the endangered YETI's, recently declared extinct by the SKODA MASTER My wizard wants to know if the connections to the back of the AMUNDSEN MIB2 are similar to the RNS510, i.e is there a 26way socket to plug the camera into. I have spent the past 2 weeks trawling the interweb for a image of the back of a AMUNDSEN head unit with no real success, none on ebay, whats wrong with those head units are they so bad no one pinches them ? Anyway I am sure one of the more technical minded SKODA owners will have had their head unit out to dust it off or retrieve a contact lens from the SD slot so if you have information hand it over, a photo would be nice or just a nod. Thanks to all who find time to check this out.
  9. Just noticed the query about heated seats. Now on 3 rd Yeti, got first in 2009 new, both heated seats had failed before the warranty ran out, had to part x with both seats not working. Had same issue on the second Yeti, had to get new elements for both seats under warranty just before it ran out in June 2016, also had problems with Haldex and Panoramic Sunroof but missed the warranty cut off and the work for both items was nearly £700. Got latest and last Yeti in November last year, hope SKODA have some heated seat elements ready for when these stop working and I will be keeping a check on the 4WD and Sunroof.
  10. Hi there, been using Daily Roads Voyager on my phone as a DashCam but my phone is not well on this App, keeps overheating and will eventuall crash or corrupt files. Anyway as there was not as much washing up to do this morning I had a quick look on the interweb and found this Hidden HD 1080P WIFI Recorder Car Dash Camera G-sensor ACC Connect Dual storage on fleabay. Web link https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hidden-HD-1080P-WIFI-Recorder-Car-Dash-Camera-G-sensor-ACC-Connect-Dual-storage/122029160115?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Model%3AYeti&epid=1977768206&hash=item1c698136b3:g:wFQAAOSweWVXcilT Now this looks neat and could be better than my phone wobbling about on the windscreen. Should connect to my phone or tablet with WiFi So anybody had experience of this "module" and how easy it would be to fit ?
  11. Well I can do the safety cams, there are no audible warnings or speed related info, your real speed will be on your speedo. So unless you use smartlink with your Android or iPhone navigation app you dont get real time speed info. You could try using a OBD11 dongle and Torque app that will display on a tablet or smartphone.
  12. Just seen your request, I have Amundsen MIB2 which has Smartlink and other stuff. Had to do my own map update after collecting car. It is 1 yr old with 1,800 miles on the clock. The map was 2016 - 2017 so out of date I asked the garage to update it but they "forgot" Now have managed to set up Safety cameras and other POI's, it is not documented in the manual.
  13. The colour of the one I got is white, not sure about the seat and internal colour of brown, I think it would have been better black or perhaps red !
  14. I will give Waze a try, some of the speed warnings are wrong on the Amundsen satnav
  15. Yes the sunroof option might get you a smaller mirror, sounds possible.
