  1. As said, the labour and the parts will more than likely cost less elswhere. Yes "excessively pitted" was the term used by the mechanic as well for the brake discs. all the work will get done it just may take a little while longer!
  2. I had the car in at D.M Keiths,Leeds today for a new tyre and a service with MOT..................... And it failed!!front suspension arm, rear braked discs and 2 new front tyres needed!!! They rang and wanted £470 to put it right for the MOT. I couldn't afford that at the moment so i'll get it tested at a local garage not dealers. Pretty annoyed but the mot was free so........... Also i had a look in the showroom for a race blue fabiia vrs, whats the news on them?
  3. James did mine too!!! No clutch slip and bags of torque!!Makes overtaking even easier. Lent it to my gran only to find her bombing it past 4 cars on a single lane dual carriageway!!:orb_rolli
  4. Yes James from Chipboost, can't reccommend him highly enough. Sound bloke, came to the house and did a fantastic job. He waited whilst i took it for a drive after and i was extremely pleased, pulls harder all the way upto the red line and doesn't seem to tail off!! In fact i had him remap my mams TT225Conv and it was mind blowing!! Really sound guy and i'd be confident to say that you will be impressed and think the same once you have it done. Go to him direct @ www.chipboost.com
  5. VW loved to badge the mkiv's anything they wanted IMO, its very hard telling what's what going by the badging on them. I've seen a TDI115 badged as (SILVER) GTI (lad from work) It's very hard to tell!!
  6. I had a GTI-6 and a 306 Rallye before this and both were fantastic cars although i needed a "practical and exciting" motor as my partner had given birth at the time. I've had it remapped and now i wwant full leather from seat surgeons(original leather isn't practical enough) and an audi TT 225 brake conversion. Alternatively i have just bought a saxo vts as a run around car,to and from work..,. HOWEVER on our way back from picking up the car i could not lose our lass who was driving the fabia. She isn't a great driver either. Conclusion= If i want an easy car to drive anywhere the vrs would be my choice, its so easy to live with and drive. ALSO - I didn't give a **** about what skoda haters had to say as nowadays they get owned!!!, The best car i have ever bought!!!!DEFINATELY!
  7. Looks like you had P.G for a minute there!!! Actually i was wandering the same thing?? HELLFIRE~:I keep on going past a silver VRS down near my mams house (woodlesford), do you come past that way alot?? If so,I'll flash my lights now everytime i go past a silver vrs in woody!!!
  8. Just Leave it as it is but tell them it's standard!!!............Only Kidding!!!:P Maybe your best option to take it back to standard form tbh,i pay that amount now with 3 years NCB and at 22 with my g/f of 20 on the policy.
  9. An interesting thread!! I'd expect a remapped fabia to lose little ground against a new Golf Gti. I agree with hellfire on this one but sadly haven't had a play with a new gti........yet! On the other hand (as someone posted earlier in the thread) throw
  10. Good Read mate:thumbup: Glad you're happy too with a remap. I opted for the chipboost remap as he came to my house, But as you say a massive kick in the back when the throttle is planted just before 2k revs. In the wet, the first 3 gears are useless also when giving it some beans, this is hardly the case though as you have to be an idiot to totally rag your car when its wet. I Don't know about you but i'm definately after some 312mm brakes as the standard ones struggle to cope with the power!!!
  11. :rolleyes:OK. First off a Mondeo st200 weighs 1410kg's, 0-60 in 7.32 & 0-100 in 19.26. Renault clio 172 mk2 weigh's 1110kg's,0-60 in 6.96 & 0-100 in 18.52. A Ford Mondeo ST TDCI (Remapped) weighs 1484kg's,lets say the remap takes the bhp to 180bhp (which is above what bluefin quote),0-60 in 8.49,0-100 in 23.96. Now look at the Fabia VRS (pushing out 172bhp) remapped of course, 0-60 in 7.55,0-100 in 20.50. Now compared to my old 306 rallye the fabia is very close performance wise. The 306 rallye is on par with a clio 172. So a 172 is quicker in all respects than an ST200. Guess i must have had one heavy Driver in the 172!! :rubchin: Of course stats on paper dont mean everything but gives you a rough idea. The ST TDCI is way out in comparison to the others.
  12. IMO due to personal experience the st24 would be close in comparison to a remapped fabia, maybe he was in the wrong gear coming off the roundabout? As said, the 200bhp ST200 would probably pass a remapped fabia Just!! Having said that a clio 172 happened to be behind me at the lights coming home from work 2 days ago and he pulled into the R.H lane. We set off and changed up till 3rd gear approaching another set of traffic lights with an exit just after on the left. It was dead even he wasn't gaining and i wasn't dropping, turned out he needed my lane and thought he'd get across. What he didn't expect was him having to drop back, brake and pull behind me. With that comparison in mind, a 172 should be quicker to 100 than an st200!
