  1. Yes, will do. Thanks for your assistance.
  2. The service indicator was reset yes, but it was set to be serviced again at 20k, instead of being put into the variable service as I had requested. Since then, I reset it myself at 20k miles and so when it goes in for its upcoming service at another local independent, I will ensure they set the interval to variable, given that it's using the best longlife oil. And yes, it's ironic that it would have been less, considerably, if I'd taken it for the fixed price dealer service.
  3. None of them. A local independent in East Lothian. The only thing he got right was the spec, 0w20 as West End seemed happy not to use 0w20. But you've confirmed what I thought all along. I'll use a different independent and insist on showing them the 0w20 that I will supply to them.
  4. Yes I understand all that and I want to continue to use 0w20. It's the price I'm querying...
  5. I need some assistance and advice re my late October 2019 Superb SEL 2.0tdi manual hatchback. Attached is a photo of its first service costs, in April, when the mileage was 10865 miles. I used my local independent garage as I always have done with previous Skodas for many years. When I picked the car up, the mechanic and I had a very long and difficult discussion about the oil price. The mechanic assured me they had spent ages working out which oil should go in the engine, which apparently changed in October 2019, with now 5.3 litres required. He stated that it has to be VW 509 00 spec and that these cars are filled with 0w20. I have subsequently found out that what he said was correct, though some Skoda dealers didn't agree with me, or the local independent. Anyway, the cost of what I was charged is the issue. The car has now done 24k miles and I am about to book it back in for another service. I have found 509 00 spec oils at various prices online, typically at around £60 - £75 for 6 litres, which is what it requires. Do members feel it's appropriate for me to take printouts of these oils along to the local guy and insist he uses them, or indeed see if he will agree to me supplying these oils (I know they are not keen to have customers supplying their own oil for obvious reasons) if I assure him I am ordering the correct oil? I'm also not sure about the fuel treatment and engine flush costs...are they reasonable, and needed? Obviously I love my car and want to ensure it has the correct oil, but not at any cost! I am going to be making a couple of trips to eastern Europe in the car in the spring, from my home in Scotland so I want to ensure things are bang on. Thanks for any advice and replies!
