  1. Thanks, DB. Had a look before and it's all fine with the wires. I think it could be the Electrical System Control Unit because now the new switch will not work, and it is a genuine Skoda one. I think the ESCU could be sending too high of a voltage to the drivers side and thats whats killing them.
  2. Has anyone been able to solve this problem? I am having the same issues as Josh. I bought a new driver switch and they started working. Then as started building the door back together and the window switch stopped working again. I'm thinking the problem maybe the Electrical System Control Unit and where is this located? Any suggestions will be helpful, thanks! Jack
  3. Did a compression test today, everything came back okay. Also checked the timing senor, nothing wrong in their either. The light also hasn't come back on since friday, so it's probably fixed itself temporarily again, like last time. Strange fault! Thanks for your suggestions anyway.
  4. Still going to do a compression test seeing as we already have the kit for it. Just seems odd that its not all the time. We are starting to think it could also be one of the sensors in the engine that has some muck on it.
  5. UPDATE: Today I've used my car as normal and the engine management light on the car hasn't appeared, and its been running like normal. I haven't replaced anything in the engine, this seems to suggest that its an electrical fault, as opposed to a compression fault? Thanks, Jack
  6. Thanks guys, I shall let him know. It's even confusing him, and he's been fixing for many years!
  7. Hi everyone. I have a 2006 Fabia 1.2 64HP car. Recently it has been showing the Engine Management light when the car is up to temp (90C) and is idle. The engine management light will appear and it will then put the car into limp mode, reducing the cars power and turning off cylinder 1. My dad, who's a mechanic, has replaced the coil pack in cylinder 1 and the spark plug. This hasn't solved the problem. He seems to think it may be the ECU playing up as when the car is turned off for about 30 seconds, and then fired back up, the light disappears and then re-appears if the car is sat idle. If I turn off the engine when the engine management light is on and then turn back on after 30 seconds and keep my foot on the accelerator, keeping it at about 1500 rpm, the light doesn't come back on. Its only when the car is idle and hot. Anyone have any other suggestions? If I do need a new ECU, I assume it will need programming to the car by someone who knows what they're doing? Thanks in advance. Jack
  8. Hi Recently my 06 FABIA has developed a problem with the 2 front electric windows. Had a look at fuses today, all fine and power getting to them. The passenger window then started working fine, but the driver side did not. I've looked at the comfort control unit (box above clutch) and I don't know where to start looking. Put it all back together, now the passenger side doesn't work. Does anyone have a diagram for this, or know of a solution that doesn't involve a specialist? Thanks! Jack
  9. I've just had a black box fitted to my car for insurance. The car now locks itself if I unlock it with the remote key, is this meant to happen normally? Or does this box make it happen? I've never noticed it do it before.
  10. It's a standard fit radio. And I doubt putting a CD in it will make much difference.
  11. I thought that but why would it be doing anything if its empty?
  12. I don't think it's that. The noise comes from the cockpit type area.
  13. Hi, I've just bought a 2006 Fabia 64 and when the driver door is opened, a motor starts to make a noise. It's sounds like it may come from the radio, but I haven't got a clue. Does anyone know? Help!
