  1. Just wondering - would the citigo horn fit the fabia? On my Citigo the horn is loud, two-tone, masculine with a bit of oomph! The fabia horn is like... pfft...meh!
  2. Also note that If you park and the engine stops, it does not engage again if you have removed your seatbealt.
  3. The lack of cruise control was one of the major reasons as to why I went with the elegance instead of the sport.
  4. Cree is one of the worlds biggest and best LED manufacturer. They do also manufacture and sell LED bulbs. But be careful, as with any other manufacturer they have a range of LED qualitys, ranging from the best there is, to really poor. This all has to do with quality consistency in the manufacturing process of LED chips. Even the best manufacturer will get some percentage of chips that are of poor quality, so they sell these cheap. In other words - you get what you pay for.
  5. Ive had several account where my PID did not do the countdown automatically and as a result did not go into standby. Result - flat battery when I get back to my car. I havent been able to trace the conditions which make this happen. Ive tried leaving it in various modes (radio, media, maps), but so far it all seems random.
  6. My CitiGo was delivered with just over half a tank full when i picked it up.
  7. It's the same with a belt. If the belt snaps, the entire engine goes out of sync and could possible destroy itself. In general i would say that chains are more reliable than belts. Usually the chains are designed to last the entire lifespan of the engine. They should be inspected at regular intervalls (can be done with engine in car), but unless the inspection finds any problems it does not need to be changes. Also, chains have a tendency to stretch prior to failure - giving a forewarning of failure. Belts usually just snaps, without warning. Belts are the common solution for most cars these days, but that more due to cost-saving, noise, emmisions etc. For the most part you'll find chains in performance engine. As an example, most high revs racing motorcycles use cam-chains. Keep in mind that belts are designed to last a lot longer than the specified service interval - but when the consequence is engine failure, why risk it?
  8. A colleague of mine at work owns a dark blue citigo with silver colored dash. His car used to be a demo-car at our local skoda dealer, so it's not something that he specced himself.
  9. Continental Conti Viking Contact 5. Yes, I have the winter tyres on already (Continental Contacts for the summer tyres aswell)
  10. Yeah, true for the most part. Car prices are still expensive though when one takes into account the differences in yearly gross income. But hey, always fun comparing prices
  11. I bought my elegance GT for about £17000 (converted from NOK). (Thats with most accessories except sunroof.) Norwegian car prices are really really really really expensive. As cars go in general, thats considered a cheap car here in Norway. The starting price for the base model is about £13400. (Did i mention that cars are really expensive in norway?) Btw, all skodas get "free" 5 year warranty included in Norway.

  13. But what if you had to pick one - and ONLY one - thing that you like. Which would you choose?
  14. I like that little flappy square rubber thingy thats hanging on the door retainer strut :P
  15. If the ASG changes gear anywhere close to the gear-change indicator on the manual then I suspect the ASG is terrible. I have tried driving according to the indicator on my manual Citigo, but the indcator makes all the wrong choices - just as you describe for the ASG. Uphills are the worst - It constantly wants me to be in a too high gear, which of course makes the car struggle and slow down. Then, once the speed falls it advise on a lower gear, but as soon as the car speeds up it wants me to change up again - which of course makes the car struggle once again. Just silly.
  16. Nah.. most people don't have chains. I have a set lying about, but I can count on one finger the number of times I've needed it (and you can bet that when that time comes, the chains are left at home anyways). Wintertires on the other hand - yeah I've already changed to those. Some people swear to studless (usually these people have never tried studless), i use studless only. Again, I can count on one finger the number of times I wished I had studded instead.
  17. Oh no! Is winter coming this year as well? Norway usually grinds to a halt as well. One could be forgiven for believing that the Norwegian vikings would know how to deal with the winters, but every year it's the same. 1cm of snow and it utter chaos on the roads. I'm currently going one step further and are currently winter-insulating my garage. So now my Citigo can sleep indoors at a cosy 20 degrees all winter
  18. In my car it goes from 0-90 deg C in really fast, showing only 5 degrees increments, then stays at 90 constant. Once heated up, I have never seen anything but 90.
  19. I try to follow the book - although by doing so I'm more or less driving the way I'm usually doing anyway (i.e. max 3/4 rpm). It's not always easy to follow the book. The engine is snappy, so when puling away one easily breaks 5000 rpm in the first gear if not careful. Once the engine is run in I intend to use all it's revs. whenever required (overtaking etc). I have yet to hit the rev-limiter, so I'm looking forward to that first experience
  20. The plastic rivet is a two-piece unit. An outer unit consisting of a set of expanding arm, + a inner pin that keeps these arms expanded, thus securing the rivet in place. To remove the rivet, the inner core must be pulled out. This allows for the rivet arms to contract. Once the inner pin is free the rivet can be pulled out by hand. Don't worry if you break it. Rivets like these are widely used among all car brands and spares can be bought online for next to nothing.
  21. My dealer did not have any information to give until 2 months into my Citigo's 3 month delivery timeline. That was when the factory set the build-week of my car. 2 weeks after that they actually manufactured the car. Then there followed a week of construction, and a week of shipment. So basically everything happened the last two weeks before i picked up the car.
  22. Access to the fog light bulbs are fairly easy, although it requires you to wield your trusty screwdriver to remove two screws and a small expanding plastic rivet. You gain access through the wheel arches. The bulbs are of type H11 55W. I replaced mine for a pair of these: http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/mtec-h11-12v-55w-super-white-hid-class-upgrade-bulbs/
  23. There really shouldn't be much difference in the mpg betwen the two models. Same engine, same ride height, same suspension. The only difference that I know of is that the GT is delivered with low roll resistance tyres, brake energy recuperation and a start stop system. Perhaps these differences are enough to justify the better mpg?
  24. There are no settings that I can see, which allows changing the playback gap. I haven't tried playing any albums that need gapless playback yet, but there is a small pause between tracks on "regular" songs. There's no mention of gapless in the PID manual either. So, short answer - no.
  25. My SD card is a brand new Class 10 SanDisk Ultra 32GB card. Should be more than fast enough. Still stutters though. PID reset does not help.
