  1. Again many thanks for all the info. Just of interest my old Nokia phone worked perfectly in the car but a much more modern Samsung would not work properly All the Best Trevor
  2. Hi again 6677. I don't know if you have seen the video on youtube I don't even know what it is supposed to show but it purports to be a Columbus 610 unit talking to a Windows phone. Any Ideas?Trevor PS Can you tell me any more about the "Blue update" you mention
  3. Many thanks Looks like I will have to be patient
  4. I have a Skoda Superb (2009 with all the bells and whistles). My last Nokia Phone worked perfectly on hands free. Just changed to an HTC S8 windows 8 phone (which I love  , and would not wish to change back). The car system wont talk to it . The phone Bluetooth recognises the car and the car recognises the phone but then says it is incompatible . How can I get round this? Any advice / ideas would be most welcome Trevor
  5. Hi Al Thanks again Trevor Just need to get one at a reasonable price
  6. Hi Al, and many many thanks. Your explanation ties in with whats happening when I try to connect. I switch on the HTC S8 bluetooth. Then tell the car to search. It finds the Phone and tells me it is an HTC S8. The phone finds the car and tells me it is a SKODA_rSAPA and asks me for a pin number. But by then the car gives a message that "The Mobile Phone is not compatible" and does not give the usual number sequence. I can't get any further. The in-car module (under the seat) has the code 5NO 035 730A. I had a similar problem last time I changed my phone to a Samsung (2 years ago; It connected but did not work fully) so I went back to a Nokia (X6) which worked perfectly (and still does). But from what you say the new Nokias, or any other Windows based phone would not now work. So there's little point in me searching for a new Windows phone that would work. From what you say replacing with a new module would help Would this be a 3C8 module. Many thanks for all your help. Any other comments or suggestions would be great. SKODA seem quite poor at offering help Trevor
  7. Car delivered 23/01/2009. The bluetooth on the phone seems to find the car and the car finds the phone but after trying to connect says that the phone is incompatible . I believe it is a GSM III installation, Up to now (with my old Nokia X6 phone) the system has always been hands free. You could use the remote sim through controls on the steering wheel (to access the phone book; the text messages etc) or via voice instructions, either calling a number or pre set voice recognition for the regularly called numbers. I hope this answers the questions Thanks for trying to help Trevor.
  8. Hi Have Superb hands free. Always worked perfectly on Nokia X6. Have now changed to a HTC S8 Windows based system mobile. Does any of this advice apply to a windows8 based phone? All the Best Trevor
  9. To answer one question. With "visible" set to OFF the car does not find the phone.
  10. Thanks for all your ideas and suggestions. Please keep them coming. The phone and the the car seem so close to working but not quite. Managed to get them to talk today, even made a phone call, but not to transfer contacts, and not to find each other after restarting the car.. I will eventually try all the possible combinations and advise results. By the way whats a Parrot kit. I thought the GSM III installation meant nothing else was needed, and that certainly was true with the Nokia phone which allowed everything that the phone could do to be done via the in-car system, including text messages etc. Trevor
  11. Thanks for the reply, They appear to recognise each other: The Phone finds the car and cvreates a small icon called "SKODA r-SAP" (it is from this icon that the authorise setting works). The Car finds the phone and gives it a name BUT On the phone there are 4 settings BLUETOOTH ON/OFF, VISIBLE ON/OFF, REMOTE SIM MODE ON/OFF and AUTHORISE a particular car system YES/NO If I set AUTHORISE to NO then each operation (like starting the link, asking to copy the contacts, making phone calls) needs seperate authorisation on the phone and usually does not work. If the phone is set with all settings to ON or YES (including authorisation) then the systems find each other BUT after I switch the car ignition OFF the phone stays locked in REMOTE SIM Mode and will not operate except in the car. There is no way to reset the phone except to remove the battery and restart. So I can get them to each see the other (just) but not to work properly. The previous Nokia switched itself to remote SIM when I switched on the ignition and back to its own operations when I switched the ignition off. That is really what I want witrh th Even when they seem to be talking the car does not seem to be able to input the contacts that are in the phones memory, so I cant create a list of contacts. I dont know yet whether I can phone since with the previous phones I allways used the list of contacts and had the important ones voice operated. Any Ideas Trevor
  12. Hi. I have a SKODA Superb with all the whistles etc and the in-car phone facility (GSM III) worked perfectly with a cheap Nokia. After finding the Nokia did not like being put in the washing machine had to buy new phone. Have now changed to a Samsung Tocca Lite (which I think is a great phone with lots of facilities for the price) BUT although it recognises the car and the car sees it they wont "talk" nicely to each other. Has anyone any experience and can anyone offer any advice Trevor
  13. Hi I have also tried the 9:00 oclock position and it worked. Many Thanks Trevor
  14. Just to add my twopence worth. I have the same problem. At the BP garage I usually use and at the first refill I could hardly get the nozzle in and had great difficulty taking it out (no jokes please). Since then I do not put it fully in and as a consequence get some diesel overflow. I will try 9:00 and see if that makes any difference. Trevor
  15. I have a Superb II, and please dont get me wrong because it is a great car. But today I tried to sit in the rear seats (instead of my usual wonderful driving position). There is no headroom. Admittedly I am over 6 ft high but I couldn't sit in the rear seat without keeping my head bend down, and the "head rest" was just about level with my shoulder blades. Is it just me or have they made the rear seats much higher than those in the Superb I so that there is space for the drive shafts in the 4 wheel drive version?. Have they also lost headroom because of the fancy rear tailgate opener? Something seems to have happened and it restricts your rear passemngers to about 5 ft 9 inch (or thereabouts) Does anyone else agree? Trevor
