valve snapped right of right under valve retainer. so bits and pieces like locking bits are still in retainer plate. this caused valve to drop on piston and seiged the engine. question is WHY did walve snap? 200 000km on the clolk and 99% on higway with cruise! -

valve shft snapped rigt att retaining plate and dropped the valve and remaining chaft on the piston. WHY is the big question. all walves was removed when cylinder head was tested att workshop and then put back together! -

lacrits68 replied to lacrits68's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
hello! so after checkin all "obivious" things out, did visit lockal independent garage. Head or head gasket is caput. Lucky thing was that cambelt was about to be changed. symptoms did show when rev 3000rpm. small tiny bubles. luckily engine did not mix fluids, and did not overheat.. head, cambelt and all what comes with it, labour and "Normal" service cost me totally 1000£. . :( merry christmast! thanks for input! //Jan -

hello! tested flapalignment, all OK, still no heat! one thing thoug...both pipes TO heater are warm/hot. is there a valve or something inside the heater? //Jan -
hello! My 20061,9tdi estate has developed an nasty "habbit", no heat from heater. What do happend is when I drive away, engine starts to gradually heat up, at the same time heater temperature is rising. When engine gets/is "Normal" hot 90c, heater stops to heat. :( Engine temperature is fine. No loss of coolant no "mayonaise" in oil filler cap no "Bubbling" in expansion tank no oil in water or water in oil no overheating normal level of coolant no exxessive preasure in the coolant tank! Just cold air in to the cabin ! :( pretty bad, since its -20c outside :( can you help me out what more to check? Im running out of ideas! //Jan

hello! I have an 2006 1,9tdi 4x4 octavia estate, and it is developing an nasty habbit.....TC ligt comes on in console and in dahsboard. is there anything I can or should check before leaving it to workshop? ABS is woeking propelly, but missing 4x4.4x4 is workin as long light stays off. when light comes on I can feel a distinkt "hack" in transmission ( gear shifter). It been serviced as schedule says by Skoda dealer. funny thing is that when there is warm outside (+20c) light comes on efter an 1km drive, and when its cold like yesterday (-30c) i could drive allmost 200km before light comes on. what might cause this problem? cheers Jan

hello! On my way home today my cruise control failed to engage. Tried several times to switch it ON/OFF and "set" no result. Then I parked my car, turned ignition off and starter her again. Voila...cruise working again. I did read "cruise control" chapter from owners manual but did not find any clues what might happend. Anyone have an idea? cheers Jan

hello! Im happy owner of -06 1,9tdi 4x4 estate octavia. I use spiked wintertyres 195-65-15. Now my question is can I use summer tyre as "spare tyre" ( car deliverd only with smal compressor and leak fix fluid)? Sommer tyres are size 205-55-16 or is there a risk of "transmission wind up" like i Land Rovers? thankfull for any help! //Jan

-06 octavia 1,9tdi "resonating" att 2300rpm?
lacrits68 replied to lacrits68's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
hello. Problem solved: left read wheelbearing was one to blame...! Case closed. //Jan -
Good morning all. 195-60-16 sounds like a good size. Out here roadsurfaces are quite "rough" and 55 profile tranfers alot of roadnoise inte to the car. Im looking för better comfort, and speeds rarely exeeds 110km/h more like 80-90km/h so we cant speak of loosing prestanda. But an 195-60-16 fit i wheelwell without a problem? Cheers Jan

hello! My octavia estate1,9tdi 4x4 2006my currently have very worn 205-55-16 tyres and they gona need replacement. Im not that big of a fan of 55 profile, so my question is is there an alternative size for 16'' tyres for my estate? cheers Jan

hello! Can you use an 15'' (spiked winter tyre) as a spare for 16'' summer tyres and vice versa winter time on an octavia 4x4, or is there risk for transmission wind up such as on my Land Rover? Or do i Need to get 2 spares one for 15'' and one 16''? //Jan- 26 replies
