  1. Both of them are just around the corner from either home or work (< 1 km). It was 5C this morning and 9C afternoon, I don't expect them to heavily influenced by heat
  2. Used (the same type) compressor at two different gas stations. It could possible be wrong, but it seemed correct on the winter tyres (using the same two). I didn't get pictures today, I¨ll see if I can make it Friday.
  3. I'm pretty sure you don't want to run a diesel dry. It could possible ruin the engine.
  4. Exactly my point. If I DEFLATE the tire from it's original 2.8 bar (40 psi) to 2.4 bar 34 the tire looks completly flat. Sidewalls bulging out and all. I'm stopping by the dealer Friday to have a talk with the guys in the shop.
  5. Stirring up the bri-hive Anyways, I'll get some photos of the tyres with the different inflation levels on my way home today. Max pressure on the sidewall does display 51 PSI (nothing in bar, compressors at gas stations in DK features only Bar scale). 3.0 bar might not be that far off ideal pressure if max is 3.5. I am certainly not inflating them to max. Maybe Italian engineers know better, my knowledge tells me that the tyre pressure should correspond to the tyre load. Unless you're driving around with ~630 kg pressure on each tyre you should not inflate to 3.5 bar.
  6. Yeah, stupid me. I was looking at Continetal's webpage... they are not featuring the right tyre names So much for goldfish memory. It is the factory mounted tyres on the Golus rims, it IS the 225/40 R18 92Y... despite the corrections here, I still cannot find the right tyre pressure.
  7. Hi guys, I've been looking everywhere for this information as I think the inside of the fuel hatch is wrong. I have just fitted my Octy 2.0 TDI stationcar/estate with the new Golus 18" rims with the Continental SportContact 2 tyres (235/50 R 18). The tire wall only states what maximum pressure should not exceed and weight constrains per wheel. The inside of the fuel hatch says 2,2 - 2,4 bar for 2.0 TDI with 235/55 tyres, depending on passenger load. When mounting the wheels they were inflated to 2,8 bar (even after spending 5 months in the garage) and deflating them to 2,4 caused them to look like I've run flat. I mean, they were really bulging out. Even at 2,8 the front tyres looked at little squeezed. At 3,0 they looked like they should so I've kept them there but I don't like driving around on "intentional look", I would rather have the correct tyre pressure.
  8. Hmm, thanks guys. I don' t think we got much different diesels here in Denmark. We surely don't have Tesco, so I guess we just have one kind of diesel and that's the premium.
  9. Hi, I was talking to the mechanic at the local Skoda dealer and asked him if could recommend to add additives to the diesel. He wasn't sure it was a good idea since the 2.0 engine should be a newer version of the traditional VAG powertrain that which is in VW and such. He said that there had been upgrades on the sensors and other technology so he would not just say yes as he would with any of the old model. Does anyone know if it is a good idea to add additives and if so which can you recommend. I am driving 30-35 of highway each way to work and then some weekend driving that could consist of alot smaller runs but also the occasional +300 km.
  10. Would anyone dare to try to actually run the car dry and see how much fuel they can cramp into the tank (please do not do this in a diesel). Take a spare fuel tank with 10L so you can reach a gas station.
  11. I think it comes down to how hard you apply the brake (thus the clutch) and how fast you are switching to the selected drive. I find the lack from reverse to drive quite often, when reversing you of my drive way and then lightly touching the brakes to a stand still and then changing to foward driving. The lack it 1-2 seconds or so.
  12. I am not dissatisfied with the Canton, I just think the possibilities to adjust the settings are too limited (or I haven't found out how yet). I have been fidling with a couple of things: - The Canton Soround Sound has to be set to either 'Front' or 'Driver' for the volume to get rich. Setting it to off make the sound flat, esepcially the sound from the two treble speakers in the doors get muted. - Boosting the 'Bass' on the equalizer doesn't really make a difference when sitting in the front seat at least. It makes no difference if it is set to -9 or +9. Should this be so ? - First I thought the sub to be broken, but when I opened the boot I could hear it thumbing, It is almost impossible to hear from the front. - When you have lowered the volume beyond the 'default setting' and you put the DSG in Park, it turns the volume up to default level instantly
  13. I have a problem with the Canton, it seems like the Sub is out. Driving along with the wife the other day we agreed that the stereo sounded much like a standard set of speakers. The sound focus was off, turning it on improved the sound a little but still, turning up and down the sub woofer from -9 to +9 doesn´t make any noticable difference :-( Anyone got clues to what to check ?
  14. Automatic hatch, windows, tinting of the rear view mirror when cars approach, control of indoor climate, convience indicators, brake systems... you name it. Funny as everything in cars now a days are electric, and still some insist on doing the shifting on gears by them self. The DSG is a little slow taking off if you are in a hurry, but all the rest is a great pleasure.
  15. Thanks guys. Actually, Now I´m looking forward to see SWMBOs family 370km away
  16. You actually have to lift it firmly into place when locking it in. I think it is a bit of a design error, that you have to angle it down wards to make it come free of the lock. It would have made much more sense to unlock it by angling it upwards
  17. And then we have the 25% VAT on extra equipment like DSG, Canton and all that. In general it just means that Danes rides smallers cars, thus the Car of the Year looks a bit odd for outsiders.
  18. FInally, after waiting for ~4 months it arrived two days ago. Black Combi 2.0 diesel with DSG, Canton, Sports suspension, Xenons, Tinted windows, mitsumi and all. You have to imagine the 225/40 Golus as cars imported to Scandinavia after 1st of Ocober are fitted with winter tyres due to regulations (in atleast Sweden). The winter tyres need caps I think, probably some black ones. Review so far (after 200 km): PROs - Super easy driving style. I'm comming from a Golf and the handling is exactly the same, you don't feel it's much bigger. - The Canton sounds great, as others have said it probably needs to be broken in before it really unfolds - The torque of the diesel engine is amazing. At least up to...ehm... after 170 it faints out - Sound level at cruising highway cruising speed is increadible low. You can have a conversation with the people in the back without raising your voice - The cornering function of the Xenons. Provides really really good overview. My guess is that is can light an angle of 35 degrees or so. - The heavy feel of the doors. You actually have to give it a firm push, it feels much like there's some quality in it. - Interior, especially the lighting of the dashboard and console - The stiffness of the undercarrige. It's like driving a go-kart. Perfect for my taste, no wobbly feeling. - The coming home/leaving light. The LEDs are soooooo beautiful bright (Without activating the DLR in the car menu, you will go about with the LED+normal position light bulp in daylight, but changing the setting in the menu will make you go with Xenon+LED as daylights. The dealer said something with automatic DLR in the fog lights and the Xenon swithcing on when darkness falls, but I could not make it work. My fogs are only on by switch). Anyway, I want to have to run with xenon+LEDS all the time + rear light on all the time too. CONs - The Bolero bump up the volume (maybe to default level) when putting the gear in Park Conclusion: Sublime driving experience. I pretty much have a smile on my face all the time. ps. The chrome fitting on the side and on the back are missing as the skilled worker fitting them was sick, so the dealer would rather give me the car than having me waiting a week. Thank you :-) pps I think the chrome list around the windows solves the B pillar gap. Mine are perfectly fitted.
  19. Just place her in front of a laptop then play a piece of her favorite music, tell her that's what it sound like without the Canton because they are cutting the cost on standard stereos.
  20. Would you add to the thread on the original number LEDs please. And grats on the car.
  21. Most of the start/stop systems will not work if: - The motor temperature is below 90 degree (or other normal running temperature) - The out door temperature is below 5 or above 30 degrees - The Aircon is using to much current - The aircon blower is on 3 or higher - The seatbelt on the driverside is not buckled - Driver's door is open - The bonnet is open - The battery is low on charge - Car hasn't been above ~10mph on the last motion - You've just been driving in reverse - Indoor temperature is far lower what you've set it to be - Heating of the rear/front windscreen is on - System is disabled by the on/off button (with the wierd A+arrow around it symbol)
  22. I must admit, I had to go compromising 20 years of really bad brand value. It was not until I actually started to investigate and compare the VAG cars (now in golf tdi) and the Octy III I came to that conclusion that the Octy is pretty much the best value for the price. Yeah I could get a Golf variant or a Passat which more or less would be the same car, but with another batch on the steering wheel. Much more extra gear and a heck lot of space (al knobs and handles inside is the same as the new golf VII). I bet this car will be Car of the Year in most of Europe in 2014
  23. I know about the shutter effect on LEDs, thats also why the slomo's don' have that flashing effect. It just made me think of the rear lights as the video does not show the rear when he applies the brakes. But thanks for the answer. Can't wait for 4 more weeks... It's unbareable.
  24. Off topic, since it everything comes down to sexism now a days because there's a pretty lady in the video. Looking at the flashing headlights (pun intended, looking at the flashing LEDs) at the end of the video make me think. Does the LED raer lights have that emergency braking effect where they flash the brake light ?
