Snag is that without the key we can't get another cut. From memory (we asked about a replacement key a year ago) Skoda want something like £170 for a new key. Given the other problems with the car I can see a visit to the scrapyard looming.

Is there a way to code new keys for the 1.4 8valve? My wife has just lost our only key and before I go to the expense of buying a new lock set I'd like to know if I can do it at home. Or is it a dealer job and how much would they charge? Thanks Malc

Interesting, might well be worth swapping the sensor. And mine only has two wires going to it.

Oops meant to add slome text in here, damn smart phone

Yes generic code reader but the temp gauge is reading normally for what it's worth. Is there another temp sensor? If so where is it cos I've heard there is one but Haynes is useless? This was reasonably nippy for such a small engine, I suppose it depends on what your expectations are.

Replaced the spark plugs and it's improved a bit. I'll get a S/H coil pack from the scrappy's later and give that a whirl.
-
It used to be quite nippy. I would have though a degrading coil pack would cause a misfire not sluggishness?

This happened to my wife's car a year or so ago. When I unplugged the cable from the sensor on the gearbox there was oil in the plug, obviously from the gear box. Shorting the pins on the plug made the lights come on so it was obviously the sonsor.

Title says it all really. We have a 1.4 8V (80k on the clock) which has been fine up till recently. However I noticed it was actually slower when warmed up then when cold and now it's getting worse. I changed the thermostat and temp sensor about a year ago which cured the temperature gauge problem. There isn't anything showing when I plug the code reader in either. Any ideas please?

What, chairs?

Seems to be balanced to me. Some people get too uptight about this sort of stuff

Ditto. A lot of the music I listen to I first heard on a copied CD or cassette (yes I am that old). I've then gone on to buy a whole load of legitimate albums from those artists. There are a few that I have got that I would never have bought in the first place so the band hasn't exactly lost out. Of course that's no defence in law.

Second of the big 6 to announce price hikes - where does it end?

We scavenge our wood from local trading estates. I swept the chimney about 2 weeks ago and it was as clean as a whistle. Mind you we don't bank the fire up for the night, just let it burn cleanly and it seems to prevent tar build up. -
Should our ex services people be treated better?

Sounds like Soviet Russia to me -
What will we qualify for?
